The United Nations World Food Program (UNWFP) has undertaken a project on behalf of Government of Odisha
to re-issue ration cards and institute new process to better manage and monitor the distribution of food grains in
Rayagada district of Odisha state. The project is being carried out to strengthen the infrastructure and system of the

Background
The world’s largest biometric identity exercise and India’s Unique ID / AADHAAR project is an initiative that would
provide identification for each resident across the country and would be used primarily as the basis for efficient
delivery of welfare services. It would also act as a tool for effective monitoring of various programs and schemes of
the government. The Unique ID / AADHAAR number provided by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) will
serve as a universal proof of identity allowing residents of India to establish their credentials anywhere in the country.
4Gid has made a significant contribution to this World’s largest social inclusion program in different aspects right from
the conceptualization stage till deployment and execution.
4Gid Role in India’s Unique ID / AADHAAR Project
Biometric Subject Matter Expert: 4Gid has provided its experience in deploying large scale Multi-modal biometric
projects right from conceptualization, biometric technologies selection and design stage of the Unique ID / AADHAAR
project.
First Proof of Concept: 4Gid developed and deployed the enrollment application for the first proof of concept of Unique

The Food & Civil Supplies Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh, India wanted to design, process, and find the
duplicate records in the Civil Supplies Ration Card Database based on IRIS recognition technology for Targeted Public
Distribution System (TPDS) for delivery of subsidized food to its citizens. The objective is to identify duplicate and
ghost beneficiaries in the Ration Card database which comprises of 56 million citizen iris data and 82 million citizen

Background
National Population Register (NPR) is a comprehensive identity database to be maintained by the Registrar General and
Census Commissioner India, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. NPR projects is taken up by the Consortium
of Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs) consisting of Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Electronic Corporation of India
Limited (ECIL) and ITI Limited. Registrar General and Census Commissioner India initiated the order for supply of
STQC – UIDAI certified 4-4-2 slap fingerprint scanners as part of creation of biometric database of the people residing
in the country.

Background
The manual system of fingerprint record keeping for identification of criminals has been in use in the police department
for more than hundred years. The fingerprint bureau of Karnataka Police wanted to automate the manual system
to improve performance of the fingerprint bureau and to reduce turnaround time of criminal identification. The
automation of the fingerprint Live Scan system interconnects a string of 148 police stations across the state thereby
enabling faster investigation.

the coastline security as part of National Population Register (NPR). NPR is a comprehensive identity database to be

manages multi-biometric devices, algorithm and biographic search technologies. 4Gid Multi-modal Identity platform
provides an XML based interface to the custom-built application for identification and authentication of subjects.
Features
Interoperability: 4Gid Multi-modal Identity Platform is capable of integrating not only multiple biometric devices and
authentication devices but also search engine algorithms for iris, finger, face and biographic data. The platform also
supports the match on card technologies.
Scalability: 4Gid Multi-modal Identity Platform can easily scale up as the size of the deployment increases in terms of
the number of subjects enrolled in the database. 4Gid web server architecture can seamlessly integrate with additional
servers and can be configured to suit licensing policies from various biometric vendors.
Extensible: 4Gid Multi-modal Identity Platform is extensible as it has been developed using a modular software design
approach. Modules can be added in a plug-and-play manner and can be integrated to suit customer requirements.
Components can be configured for centralized or de-centralized deployments.
