Scholastic Book Fair March 28-April 4 3 An Interview with Interim Principal Kenner by an Inman 7th grade student. How is Ms. Herrema doing? To my understanding she is doing very well in her new position at the APS Center for Learning and Leadership. What kinds of things are you hoping to accomplish while you are at Inman? I would like to learn more about the Inman culture and climate. I am listening to staff and parents in an effort to determine the “real issues” that need to be addressed. I would like to be instrumental in helping Inman stakeholders to realize the importance of monitoring the academic progress of all students and providing enrichment and support services to students in need. Were you surprised about anything when you came to Inman? I had heard that Inman parents were very demanding and at times difficult to work with. To my surprise, that has not been my experience. The parents I have had the opportunity to interact with have been caring, informed, and very interested in their child’s school, only wanting the best for their children. What do you think are Inman's biggest challenges/opportunities? 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. To continue showing parents our willingness to resolve issues that are bound to come up. To make sure positive stories of Inman are told to our stakeholders. To “get through” the pains of the Building Expansion. To continue to develop character and resolution skills in our students. To retain quality staff. To continue to address equity and diversity issues in education and co-curriculum programs. To retain and increase the involvement of all our parents, and continued community support. What is your favorite thing about being principal at Inman? The fact that the vast majority of our students, staff, and parents are working each day to keep Inman a “great school.” The people are wonderful. 4 Save the Date March 31st-April 4th Book Fair April 3rd Taste of Inman April 14th-20th Osteria 832-(dine-out) May 2nd King of Pops (at Inman) May 13th West Egg Cafe (dine-out) Book Fair The whole school is excited about our Book Fair. This annual event is so much fun and a great time to get together with other Inman families – not to mention the AWESOME food. And don’t miss our raffle at the event. We have great items available from Summer Camps to Hawks tickets to Airline tickets. So – good food, great company, and prizes – what more could you ask for? This year we are holding the event right before Spring Break on Thursday, April 3. Join us! As we get into a very busy time of year for the school with performances and practices, please do not forget to follow the rules the school has established for pick up and drop off. The procedures are designed to keep our students as safe as possible by separating cars, buses, and pedestrians. Another way to help: please do not park in the curb lane east of the school entrance on Virginia. This helps us stack cars in the carpool line. A few extra minutes is a very small price to pay for the safety of our kids! Thank you for your continued support for our many events and activities. Our Nominating Committee is hard at work and still accepting nominations for Executive Committee positions. Join us for the annual Book Fair the week before Spring Break to support our school library. And we have an Osteria Dine Out scheduled after Spring Break. Lots going on and many great ways to support our school community. I always enjoy hearing from you! Please contact me with any questions or feedback.
