the help of public fundraising:
redirecting 2% of the income tax, 20% of the profit tax,
CSR funds, donations and sponsorships
in value of EUR 284,000 during the first year
How do we define gifted children?
Children with an IQ* above 130
Children who could
easily accelerate 2-7
grades beyond their
physical age
In heterogenous classes, gifted
children stand out more often
through the problems they create
**, rather than through their real
potential (have EQ* and SQ*
below average)
“To have the intelligence of an adult and the emotions of a
child combined in a childish body is to encounter certain
difficulties.” (Hollingworth, 1942)
* IQ= intelligence quotient, EQ=emotional quotient, SQ= social quotient
** centralization of several studies : http://giftededu.ro/resources/Beneficiile-educatiei-copiilor-supradotati-Cercetari-internationale.pdf
Where do the results of gifted children rank in the
school’s classic average values?
Gifted children who do
not meet others to
share their passions
with, run the risk of
feeling excluded,
become arrogant or
mediocre
“80% of the high-ability
children become
mediocre because of not
being involved in
programs to develop their
abilities” and “only 3% of
the gifted children will
succeed in life”*
The existing schools
attended by gifted children
should offer, among others,
options such as:
differentiated curriculum,
curriculum compacting,
course acceleration,
tunneling (two years in one)
and, most important, mentorcoordinated enrichment
activities. This does NOT
happen.
*study conducted since 1974 up to the present time http://www.evz.ro/doar-3-dintre-copiii-supradotati-reusesc-in-viata-907227.html
How would Romania benefit from a school for gifted children?
GDP increase
Gifted children educated
according to their needs and
potential have an impact on
the GDP increase of the
respective country*
Development
They register twice up to 8
times more patents than
the rest of the population **
Inspirational Leadership
These children may become
inspirational leaders of the
future society. In school they
are taught that each of us can
make a difference, and the
principle “Pay it Forward” is
one of the school’s leading
principles.
Both developed countries and countries in Central and Eastern Europe already have schools for gifted children.
