A Note From Mr. Patrick Lee
You will find limericks, acrostics, prose, and a variety of pieces about
Dear Lincoln “Literary Lions” Authors,
seasons, animals, and things that are important to our very own
I want to thank you for sharing your wonderful talents with the entire
Lincoln authors. Enjoy!
Lincoln School community! As I read through your submissions,
I am struck by the variety of what inspires you to write. Everything
Editors’ Note
We are so proud of our Literary Lions members and the wonderful
writings they produced this year. Our writing journey began with free
verse poetry and prose. Our students then moved into a journalistic
style of writing where they conducted interviews with one another.
They also explored free writing with topics that were meaningful in
their own lives. We touched upon love poems and used different
from candy to cooking, from fall to fishing, from painting to pencils…
the topics are endless! Continue to search for these sources of
inspiration in your writing, and never give up on improving your
craft. I appreciate your creativity, humor, emotion, and thoughtful
reflection as you wrote these limericks, poems, acrostics, and other
pieces on topics that are special to you. I commend you for your
hard work this year and for creating a lasting memory for Lincoln
School!
poetic devices. And we ended the year with a read aloud party
where students shared their favorite pieces with each other. Enjoy
Thank you also to our Lincoln parents, including Heather Layng,
the magazine and also take a look at the writing samples online.
Cara Huzinec, Marsha Romero, Rebecca Ferranti, and Dee Bouloukos
Write on!
for your guidance, leadership, and inspiration to our Literary Lions!
Heather Layng, Cara Huzinec, Marsha Romero, Rebecca Ferranti
Sincerely,
and Dee Bouloukos.

Two Way
Trout Season
Where It Can Be Seen
Back, back, waaaay back...
I take the ornaments
Mike Trout crushes another monster HOME RUN!!!!
Candy canes too
I see that beautiful evergreen
I put it in a room where it can be seen
I string light and garland
Back, back, waaaay back…
All the way through
Mike Trout runs down another long fly ball!!!
But under that tree
On Christmas Day
Back, back, waaaay back…
There’s toys galore
Mike Trout brings his arm into firing position to throw out
Scattered on the floor
Josh Donaldson at home plate!!!
And anyone can see that there’s no room for more
The tree is brighter
Back, back waaaay back…
Than ever before
I cast my lure into the river and catch a giant rainbow trout!!!
I could not ask
For anything more
And that is trout season two ways!
It’s the most beautiful evergreen
That’s why I put it in a room
Where it can be seen

Naked Trees
Brown and dull
No more colors.
All the colors fell to the ground.
The poor cold tree is shivering in the cold.
The branches are shaking and shivering in the cold.
The warm leafy clothes are getting crunched and jumped on.
Fall can be a bad season for trees.
Flipping Out
I love to jump, hang, and swing
it makes me feel like a flipping machine
Handstand, cartwheel, tumble, roundoff
I always want to bound off the trampoline!

Fall is when you put scarecrows out. It’s time to go back to school.

Thanksgiving parade
falling, falling leaves
Thanksgiving is when you have a big feast with a yummy turkey
and gravy and all of your relatives. You can wear special clothes
that represent fall and watch the Macy’s Day Parade.
Thanksgiving means to give thanks to your family and to God. I am
thankful for food and water and clothes. I am also thankful that I
have good parents, a great school, a perfect teacher, awesome
friends and a great God.
The Limerick of Leo
(involving cat Cleo)
There once was a cat named Cleo.
She traveled to Rio
To fight scary Leo.
She found out she can’t travel,
And fell to the gravel
And was never again to be seen-o.

Valentines Day
Ode To Soccer
Love, hugs and kisses.
I love to play goalie,
Chocolate hearts and heart cookies.
I block the ball quickly with my hands.
Valentines Cards and family.
I hear the sound puh puh puh.
All these things make me happy.
I kick the ball with the side,
And inside of my foot.
I am happy playing soccer.
I love soccer very much,
And I love to play.

I try to be his friend
But sometimes he’s so shy.
He is black and white.
We saved him from the pound.
After vacation I will see him again.

Birthday Happiness
My birthday is on May 14th.
All my friends are coming.
I am very happy.
At the end, I blow out the candles
But the wish stays in my heart.
