NOVEMBER 11—Veteran’s Day Program “When we think about the kind of character we want for our children, it’s clear that we want them to be able to judge what is right, care deeply about what is right, and then do what they believe to be right— even in the face of pressure from without and temptation from within.” Dr. Thomas Lickona 11 Board of Ed Mtg. 6:00 at CHS Library 14 - PTO Meeting 9:30 a.m. 13 - Mid Terms 16— Fall Fundraiser ends 18—Parent Group Meeting—9:30 a.m. 25 - 27 - Thanksgiving Break The Jerusalem School morning announcements feature a characteristic of the month. Message from Central Office Administration The school year is off and running and our schools are all doing the things that make this district a special place for kids to learn. As we move forward addressing the financial and educational challenges that face us, we want to let you know the district is committed to community engagement and involving parents throughout our school system to be a part of planning and communication efforts for our future. Here are a few things going on in our schools: The last several weeks have been very busy coordinating with the Lucas County Health Department of the H1N1 vaccination clinics held in our schools. These clinics were a success in helping to achieve the goal of vaccinating as many children as possible. Our district has begun a strategic planning process looking at ways we can continue to improve in the areas of communication, community involvement, curriculum, fiscal operations, and business operations. We thank all those who have participated in this process. We continue to lobby the state department on behalf of public education and adequate funding for our schools. We feel financial pain as you do. Finally, our teachers are working exceptionally hard this year on behalf of your sons and daughters to provide the best education possible given all the staff reductions and change in personnel within our district this school year. Please take the time to thank a teacher for all the hard work they do! If you haven’t checked out our new website please do so. Your child’s building is working very hard to keep the website current and useful to you. www.oregoncityschools.org Thank you for the continued support of your school district.
