Guild Notes F rom the President’s Desk Dear Guild Members, Autumn is upon us and the Guild year is in full swing! Our small army of members and volunteers is hard at work preparing for this October’s Tour of Homes, North Main, Now and Then. Five gorgeous homes will be shown October 2-4. Tickets will be delivered to outlets for sale and we encourage our members to help sell tickets to neighbors, friends and out of town guests. We are very grateful to our member friends and businesses for their sponsorship of this first fundraiser of the year! The Guild Board Retreat was held at The Thornblade Club on July 28. GSO Executive Director Sherwood Mobley spoke to the board about the future plans for the orchestra and Maestro Tchivzhel gave highlights of the concert season. The board broke into roundtable discussions and many good ideas were produced, which VP of Administration Carolyn Beckie and I are analyzing for use. Our first Guild meeting was held at Northampton Wines and Richard DeBondt and staff produced a wonderful meal with appropriate wines to our delight. Our next event is The President’s Reception to be held at the beautiful home of Sharron and Norman Glickman. This always popular event is a great time to reconnect after the summer and I look forward to seeing many of you again. Our first Concert Preview will be held at The Governor’s School for the Arts & Humanities and Maestro will give his insights into the program for Masterworks I, Opening Spectacular, which features soloist Andrew Von Oeyen on piano. As parking can be limited at the school, we ask members to car pool as much as possible. Right after the Tour, some of us will be attending the SOVA Roundtable in Hilton Head, SC. We look forward to the fellowship with volunteers working with other regional orchestras and coming back home with some great ideas to benefit our own organization. I would like to take this moment to say thanks to all working on The Tour of Homes and the Patron Party. Your dedication to pulling off this major event is inspiring to me and to others and I look forward to serving during that weekend.
