June 4 gimmick rallye -- details announced
By Bob Budecki, rallyemaster
The June 4 Porsche Club Gimmick
Rallye will start and end in Reedsburg, WI, about a 2-1/2 hour drive
from Milwaukee. We'll begin at the
Reedsburg BP Station on the corner
of Hwy 33 (Main Street) and Viking
Road.
Schedule: Plan to arrive at 1 p.m.
Drivers' meeting at 1:30 p.m.; first
car off at 2 p.m. Make sure your fuel
tank is topped off before you arrive.
The route is about 50 miles through
some very scenic back roads of Sauk
County. Plan about 3 hours for the
event. We will end the event at J's
Pub and Grill, on Viking Road just
north of the BP Station starting
point. J' s Pub and Grill has a full
bar, great casual menu and roomy
enough for us to mingle after the
event. The GR winner will receive
a trophy at J's.
For those new to Gimmick Rallyes
it's like a scavenger hunt on
wheels. Each team of Driver/
Navigator will receive detailed driving instruction plus several pages
of photos of scenic items to locate
along the route. Each photo has a
question that can only be answered
after seeing the item. All items are
in clear view and do not require
exiting the vehicle.
Cost is $20 per vehicle payable in
advance through the registration
form below or on day of event. All
vehicles are welcome and you do
not have to own a Porsche or belong to the club or to do this
rallye.
If you plan to register day of the
event, please let me know that
through an e-mail so I have
enough driving instructions and
photo sheets available for everyone.
We hope your summer plans include this fun event.
Please feel free to contact me with
any questions. Bob Budecki,

event is open to PCA Members of all regions as well as other car owners.

while trundling through the construction
zones? May 22 is your time to show orange cones what they were really made
for. Go to MotorSportReg.com and sign

2005 Snell-rated helmets not expiring 6/1
By Terry Royals
PCA extends
use of Snell
2005-rated
helmets to
January 2017.
For those of you familiar with SNELL
ratings, you recall that we (this is tied
to PCA’s Club
Racing requirement) follow a
particular guideline where the
helmets are
"dated" within 10
years of the upcoming season.
This season we
will continue to accept the 2005 rated
due to the delay in new 2015 models.
April Coffee Travelers
We'll let these pictures tell part of the
story of our Coffee Travelers get together in April 2016 at Black Canyon
Coffee in Wales. We get together
monthly at an area coffee shop
(anywhere in the 5-county area of SE
Wisconsin). We mostly talk about
Porsches. If you have a suggestion
for a meeting place that includes decent parking, please let our region
president Donna Daufenbach know.
The 2015 helmets are currently in short
supply and in working to stay consistent
with club race rules, we will accept your
2005 version for the Milwaukee Region
Aug. 12 driver education event as well as
the Milwaukee Region Sept. 11 autocross.
Learn more about helmet requirements
on the region website.
Region visits Kelly-Moss Road and Race
By Donna Daufenbach
Saturday, April 23 saw 50+ region
members and friends gather at
Kelly Moss in Madison for a visit.
About half of those attending started the day at International Porsche
Waukesha for a backroads drive to
Madison.
We made an impromptu detour
around Jefferson to avoid swap
meet traffic which took us from Sullivan through Fort Atkinson to Cambridge and on to Madison. The
weather was clear, traffic light and
the four deer that were sighted
crossed the road well in front of the
tour group.
Our host for the day, Pete DeVries,
highlighted the diversity of services
available at Kelly Moss. Many are
aware of the race services they provide at both the professional and
amateur levels. The most recent
additions are Porsche Cayman GT4
Club Sport. The winning vehicle
from the inaugural PCA GT4 club
race at Atlanta was one of three on
display. Several others were out on
the West Coast and Pete reports
that they are expecting delivery of
four additional vehicles.
We also got to check out the KMRRSR which was at Kelly Moss after
participating in Rennsport V before
returning to its owner in New Zealand.
Other vehicles on display for our inspection included a Safari 911 built
last year, an indigo blue 911, an orange 914-6 and the body of a 356 in
the early stages of restoration work.
The 356 is a one-family car from
New York. Also present on a rotisserie was the body of a 964 from
Virginia which was at Kelly Moss for
removal of the cage and roof replacement.
We also took a peek into the body
shop/paint area where no Porsches
were present however there were
two Ferraris.
We then made a stop in the engine
room where Pete spoke to us about
not just Porsche engines but also
NASCAR engines.
Page 9
As we returned to the main shop
area discussion turned to some of
the challenges in a diverse enterprise particularly staffing. The staff
is multinational with some residing
in Wisconsin and others flying in
including several from the Netherlands.
Kirt Shore from PCNA, a Chicago
region member and longtime
friend of Pete’s, was also in attendance and made a few brief remarks and answered questions.
Thank you to Pete DeVries and
Kelly Moss for hosting us. Thank
you to Tom Frizzle and International Porsche for opening their
doors early for us and to Tom for
serving as our sweeper and support vehicle on the tour.
We look forward to seeing you at
our next event.
Kelly-Moss tech session in pictures
Page 10
Our host, Pete Devries, right, provided lots of insight into the
Kelly-Moss story, including capabilities and services.
Thanks to Donna Daufenbach and Al Wagner for the photos.
Join us for the Blind Horse Winery Tour and lunch, Sept. 17
Join other PCA – Milwaukee Region
members on Saturday, Sept. 17 for
a drive through the twisty, hilly
backroads of the North Kettle Moraine to the Blind Horse Winery in
Kohler, Wis. There, we’ll have a private tour of their production facilities, followed by lunch on their patio. Upon arrival, our cars will be
directed into an area of their parking lot reserved just for our Porsches. The event provides not only
an interesting drive but also the
opportunity to visit a true "Napa
Valley" style winery and enjoy lunch
in a rustic, elegant setting.
We will be led on a tour of Blind
Horse’s wine production area by
chief winemaker, Thomas Nye. We’ll
get to sample from some of their
barrels and each participant will
receive a bottle of Blind Horse wine
with a “PCA-Milwaukee Regioncentric” label.
Page 12
For those not familiar with Blind
Horse, they make serious wines,
worthy of some of the better winemaking regions of California. We
think you’ll be impressed with their
vintages. For those wanting to further sample their products, an additional tasting of any 5 of their
wines is available for $6.
The cost of the tour (including one
bottle of Blind Horse wine) will be
$30 per participant. In addition,
each participant (or couple) will
be responsible for paying his or
her (their) own lunch check. We
must provide Blind Horse an exact
count by noon, Saturday, Sept. 3,
2016.
Afterwards, we’ll have lunch on
Blind Horse’s patio (weather permitting…otherwise, we’ll be served
inside) and order from their full
menu. For a preview of their lunch
menu, check their website, http://
www.theblindhorse.com/.
Following lunch, feel free to linger
on the patio (hopefully, in abundant sunshine!), and then return
home on your own. There will be
no organized return drive.
To register for the event, please
print out the reservation form,
and send it with a check of $30
per participant to the address
shown on the form. The form and
check must be received by the
above-noted deadline. Details regarding the starting place and
time will be provided to registered
participants the week prior to the
event. If you have questions, contact information is provided on the
reservation form.

MKE PCA ROAD AMERICA DRIVER EDUCATION
Block the date: Friday, Aug. 12
By Jeff Cowie
We hope that by now that your
car has finished off her StaBilflavored fuel, and that you've
filled her up with a fresh tank of
93 octane ... priced lower than it
has been for many years. That
fresh gas and well-rested Porsche
is just one more reason to attend
our fantastic Driver Education
event at the world-renowned
4.048-mile, 14-turn Road America circuit in beautiful Elkhart
Lake! Some of the other reasons,
of course, are for novices to learn
from experienced instructors, exactly what your car was designed
and manufactured to do. Add to
that, you will be able to enjoy the
camaraderie of all the drivers who
attend…it is a fun day.
Drivers. (A word to Group 1 drivers: We limit the number of cars to
about 35 which is due to Instructor
availability. This group fills up
quickly, so sign up early.)
We divide the Run Groups into
three categories. Group 1, Novice, is for first-timers and those
with limited track experience. In
this group you will have an instructor in your right seat. They
will support what you are learning
in the classroom as well as help
you understand how to handle
your car in numerous track situations, e.g. over/under steering.
Group 2 is for Intermediate Drivers; Group 3 is for Advanced
Register now
Registration and payment for this
event is now open and handled
through MotorsportReg. See link at
the end of this article where you
will find more details and pricing.
Novices – drivers will be attending
a clinic when they are not on the
track. The clinic is incredibly educational on the basics of car handling in HPDE (High Performance
Driving Events). We cover numerous topics, including braking, turn
entry point, apexing corners, and
turn exits. A Road America track
map that specifically covers all 14
turns is scrutinized during the clinic. You'll also learn the allimportant flag colors and designs
that are used by corner workers to
keep you safe on the track.
There are numerous discounts
available for early registration, first
timers and instructors providing
you register before July 28.
Page 14
Helmet requirement
A helmet is required, and must comply with a helmet manufactured in
2005 or later, and stickers are in five
-year increments. The SNELL SArated sticker is required by PCA National regulations. All helmets must
have a SNELL SA-rated sticker dated
2005 or 2010. This sticker is a reflective decal affixed to the semirigid foam padding in the rear inside
portion of the helmet, underneath
the soft padding. The helmet must
also have a chin strap in good condition and no cracks.
Well? ... Looking for fun and excitement? Go to Milwaukee PCA DE-Road America and sign up. Have
any questions, send us a note at

Porsche launches new vehicle delivery program at Experience Center in Atlanta
Porsche Cars North America has
launched its New Vehicle Delivery
program at the Porsche Experience
Center (PEC) in Atlanta. The program enables customers to place a
factory order for a new vehicle
through any authorized Porsche
dealer in the U.S. and take delivery
directly from the experiential destination, located at One Porsche
Drive in Atlanta.
California forensic accountant and
attorney Tracy Blumenthal was the
first official customer to participate
in the program today when she
picked up her new Cayenne S EHybrid sport utility vehicle.
"We are thrilled to launch the New
Vehicle Delivery program as another premium offering at our Porsche
Experience Center in Atlanta," said
Andre Oosthuizen, vice president,
marketing, for Porsche Cars North
America. "We welcome further customers to follow the lead of Tracy
Blumenthal and enjoy this exclusive
opportunity to truly experience the
Porsche brand."
New Vehicle Delivery customers
receive a total VIP experience,
comprised of a tour of the PEC, an
in-depth vehicle orientation with a
delivery specialist, a 90-minute experience in a Porsche on the driver
development track, and lunch at
Restaurant 356, Porsche’s finedining destination.
Because Blumenthal is the first customer taking part in the New Vehicle Delivery program, she also enjoyed a special demonstration lap in
an 887-horsepower 918 Spyder
plug-in hybrid supercar with former
Porsche race car driver and 24
Hours of Le Mans winner David
Donohue.
"Porsche is a remarkable brand that
I have repurchased multiple times,
consecutively," Blumenthal expressed. "You truly can't understand
the genius of these cars unless you
have in fact had the opportunity to
get behind the wheel of one."
In addition to Blumenthal’s new
Cayenne S E-Hybrid and the 918

WANTED to BUY: Tubi exhaust for 997.2
I recently bought a 2011 997.2 S cab and would like to
upgrade the exhaust. I am a complete newbie to Porsche.
I have read lots of positive reviews, and gotten first hand
accounts that TUBI is the way to go. Do you have one to
sell? Do you have thoughts on purchasing such a system?
Should I just go to Champion Motor Sport in FL and bite
the $3500 bullet for the system?
