FAREWELL, MY FRIENDS-I have had the delightfully good fortune of being able to spend the last 37
years surrounded by precious children and the beautiful people who have chosen to devote their careers to
making them feel special and helping them to believe in themselves and to experience the joy of learning.
Thank you, parents, for trusting me with your children. I have a lifetime of special memories and will
treasure them as I have these wonderful little people. May God bless and keep you in the coming years.

Who Will Win?!?!? Will it be your class?
THE LAST FEW DAYS— please send a sturdy bag with your child on Friday, May 30th. Desks will be
cleaned and your children will be bringing home papers and personal items. Talk to your children who ride
bikes to school about the possibility that they may not be able to carry their belongings while riding bike. We
will donate all unclaimed items left in school to a charity.
Report cards will be sent home Friday, May 30th, the last day of school, if your child does not have obligations
due, such as lunch charges, lost or damaged textbooks or library books. Please take care of these obligations at
your earliest opportunity. Please call the school if you have questions, 356-2080.
Our “Awards” presentations will be Thursday, May 29th, at 1:00PM. Parents are welcome to attend.
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL LUNCH—all elementary school kitchens will be open for breakfast and lunch on
Friday, May 30th, the last day of school. Your student may buy the school lunch: corndog w/ chips, fresh
vegetables, fruit & milk. This will be packed as a sack lunch. Or, students may bring a bag lunch from home if
they prefer. Please use disposable containers.
LUNCH ACCOUNTS—there are 4 days remaining in the school year that we will be serving breakfast and
lunch. Please be sure your children’s accounts are paid to the end of the year. Balances remaining in accounts
at the end of the year will be rolled over to the 2013-14 school year. THERE WILL BE SACK LUNCHES
AVAILABLE ON THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL. BREAKFAST WILL BE SERVED AS USUAL.
RETIREMENT / CHAPTER TWO — it is bittersweet as I send out this last newsletter for Horace
Elementary. I will miss working with the students, parents, staff and community. I have gained so much
from many of you. Thank you! I am not saying goodbye but see you later. I plan to be in from time to
time to check up on my little ones.
I leave you in very good hands, so please make welcome from our very own community, Kristi Sauvageau.
She is currently administrative assistant for Westside Elementary. She will be a wonderful partner for your
new principal Mr. Markusen which you will also love. I have worked with him at Cheney Middle School
and he will be a great asset to Horace Elementary and the future of West Fargo School District. I leave you
with these words.
“I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.”

Going forth joyfully,
Ava Vranish
