First of all, Portraits in the Park is just around the corner. On Monday, June 13, we are hosting three amazing photographers who will be sharing their talents and artistry for a full day at the Planting Fields Arboretum, one of the most scenic locations on Long Island. (See details in this newsletter and on our web site.) If you haven’t already signed up, take advantage of the early bird discount. Just go to http://www.eventbrite.com/event/1643625127 and save $10 if you register before June 7. June is also the month of our annual GNY fishing trip. Please join us on Monday, June 27 for a fun filled day on the water with friends, family and colleagues. We will be departing at 1PM on the party boat Super Hawk, leaving from the Point Lookout town dock near Lido Beach. The cost for the day is $40, which will be due at the dock. If we have a large enough group, the price will be discounted. (Be sure to bring your own food, drinks and snacks.) By the way, we all came back with lots of fish last year, so get your filleting knives and freezers ready. The July 5 dinner meeting will be at Koenigs in Floral Park and will feature a program by New Jersey photographer Jim LaSala. To view his creative wedding, portrait and fine art photography, check out his web site at www.jimlasala.com . I think you will find his work to be extraordinary and exciting. The Dog Days of summer will not keep us from having some fun together. On Monday, Aug 15 we plan to be enjoying ourselves on Fire Island with a cooling ferry ride and sunset dinner. Members are invited to come earlier to have a nice day at the beach. For more information, contact Anthony Guerreri at [email protected] . The most exciting upcoming program will be the PPSNYS Project 9/11. This state-wide event will take place exactly 10 years to the day after the tragedy of September 11, 2001. The intent is to document, through our photography, how NY State has thrived, but still remembers that dreadful day. The subject matter will be yours to choose, and does not have to be directly related to 9/11. The idea is to show what we will be doing in NY State on a single day, from Buffalo to Montauk. It doesn’t matter whether you cover a wedding, a professional or family affair, routine events or some ceremony commemorating the terror attacks. We hope to collate exciting photos from every PPSNYS section and PPSNYS member and create a book showing off the best images that we, as professionals, can create. The proceeds will be donated to an appropriate charity. Specific information will be forthcoming soon. I invite everyone to come together and participate in each of these exciting events. I look forward to seeing you all. Registration Form - Next Page L.I.
