LICA’s Bove Industries Reinventing a Much Traveled Intersection LICA member Bove Industries, Inc. continues to play an integral role in the reconstruction of County Road 3 that includes significant intersection improvements at Ruland Road/Colonial Springs Road in Melville just outside the offices of Newsday. The Suffolk County Department of Public Works (SCDPW) initiated the project because they found that, based on current levels of traffic, this segment of the county road was not adequate to meet the needs of the motoring public. Over the years significant economic growth has occurred along its corridor, creating new jobs and investments. That in turn has mandated the need for improvements and road realignments. Bove Industries was started in 1985 by the owner and current President/CEO Louis J. Bove. Located in East Setauket, the company has developed over the years into a major site-work and heavy/highway contractor on Long Island and in New York City. While best known for public and private construction work, during the past two years the firm has also begun work in the specialized field of directional drilling. 2 September 2, 2014 LICA to Participate in LIA Breakfast with LIRR President Patrick Nowakowski The Long Island Association (LIA) is hosting a special executive breakfast meeting with the new President of the MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) Patrick Nowakowski on Tuesday, September 16 at 8:30 a.m. at LIA headquarters, 300 Broadhollow Road, Melville, 11747 (Lower Level of the Bank of America building). As LIRR President, Nowakowski oversees more than 6,000 employees – one of Long Island’s largest workforces – and directs a commuter rail system with more than 700 miles of track that serves more than 83.4 million customers a year at 124 stations and terminals located in virtually every community on Long Island. Building on the work of the LIA Economic Development & Infrastructure Committee, Mr. Nowakowski will discuss ongoing LIRR projects and his plans for the LIRR in the future.
