THE SOCAN AWARDS
The SOCAN Awards show is an annual celebration of
accomplishments by Canadian songwriters, composers and
music publishers, hosted by SOCAN.
Embarking on its 27th year, “The SOCANs” is one of the
premier music events in Canada, attended by nearly 700
music industry executives and award winners.

HISTORY
For the past 26 years, the music industry has gathered annually at the SOCAN Awards
to pay tribute to Canada’s most esteemed songwriters, composers and music
publishers and to enjoy the evening’s festivities.
Some of the winners who have attended over the years include:

Winners are determined by the amount of ‘spins’ (airplay) their successful
songs have received over the past year and over the course of the song’s
lifetime. Hundreds of awards have been presented since 1990.
Highlights of the evening include live performances and the presentation
of the Lifetime Achievement, National Achievement, International
Achievement, Special Achievement and Breakout awards to recognize
songwriters and composers for their significant career accomplishments.
