Late Fall Edition
It’s been a fabulous fall at MBS. Now that the start of
school and the first quarter are behind us and we are settling into our routine,
we are faced with fast-approaching holidays. We have a lot planned and hope
you can set aside some time to join in the fun! Community building is our
primary goal for the year, and we want everyone to feel welcome to
participate. A heartfelt thank you to the many individuals who have stepped
up to help so far. We could not do it without you! Interested in helping out?
Please let us know!
MBS Monday and MBS Week in Review will continue to be our primary
communication vehicles. The best way to stay up to date on upcoming events as
well as to get recaps of past events is to diligently read these biweekly emails
from the school. In addition, this seasonal PA newsletter will continue to
contain lots of great information. In this issue, we include our 2015-2016
budget, a list of upcoming dates, a volunteer spotlight, many updates from our
coordinators, and a Fashion Show wrap up.

Q: Why did you choose to get involved
as a first year parent to MBS?
A: In my previous school, I
wanted to wait and see how the
school worked, what the activities
would be and take my time before
getting involved. What I found
was that, by the time I did jump
in, I missed out on opportunities
to meet people and get a better
understanding of the school. I
wasn't going to let that happen
again so this time, I looked at
what interested my daughter and
decided to volunteer in that area.
I have met amazing parents, many
of whom I would never have
met otherwise and I am now
responsible for your Founders
Hall lobby artwork displays.
I love it!

If you would like to get more involved,
please contact Melissa Simon at

opportunities that can fit your interests
and your schedule.

Backstage Pass. For the
first Backstage Pass, a group
of parents were treated to an
intimate, behind-the-scenes
discussion of the making of
Almost, Maine with Dr. Susan
Speidel, MBS Performing Arts

interesting anecdotes of the
play and playwright, challenges
and amusing stories of the
rehearsals, and intricacies of
putting together a high school production. The
parents were also treated to a backstage tour of
the set (constructed by the Stagecraft students)
and a peak at the dressing rooms furnished with
costumes from the show. Almost, Maine runs
November 11 – 14 in Founders Hall.
Ragtime: The Musical. Join Backstage Pass for
a one-night-only performance of Ragtime at the
Morristown MPAC on Thursday, January 28th at

FROM THE CLASS OF 2016
W EDNESDAY , N OVEMBER

Fashion Show "Fashions Around the
Green" a successful event. The goal
was bringing the community together
in celebration of the Class of 2016.
We were thrilled to have nearly 360
guests in attendance. Check out the
slide show on Crimson Spotlight on
mbs.net if you missed the day and
would like to see pictures of our
seniors. Congratulations to the Class
of 2016, you rocked the runway!
The success of the event is a direct
result of the involvement and
support of so many. Below is a list
of the many volunteers who donated
their time in support of the event. A
big THANK YOU to Ilissa Matilsky
for chairing the Fashion Show. Her
dedication and enthusiasm was
displayed on a daily basis. We would
also like to thank the fabulous
committee chairs and committee
members for their energy, creativity
and determination. Our generous
donors are also listed below, and we
are grateful for their contributions.
We are pleased to report that
together we raised more than
$60,000 in support of our school!
Finally, we are aware that there were some misspellings in the show’s program, and we apologize for
that. Therefore, we have also included the corrected program. The program also highlights the stores
that dressed our seniors. We hope the entire MBS community will support these stores as well as
other businesses that supported our efforts.
The Parents Association is eager to continually improve. If you have any comments or suggestions on the
Fashion Show, we would love to hear from you. Please reach out to Bea Fagan at [email protected]
with any feedback. Thank you!
