CHEYENNE COUNTY ENTREPRENEUR CAMP SEW SAVVY Mondays Beginning June 1 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. Sidney Public Library, Sidney Friday, June 12 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Lodgepole Valley Youth Camp, Sidney Grades: 6th - 12th Registration: Limited space Fee: Free 4-H Member; $20 Non 4-H Member Ages: 8 - 13 Fee: $20 Explore your business personality, talents, hobbies and learn how to turn those interests into a business idea. Campers will be challenged to think about business needs in their communities and how to market local businesses. Meet local entrepreneurs and tour local businesses. Camp culminates with your business presentation during the county fair. Let’s start with the basics. If you have always wanted to learn how to sew, this is the workshop for you! You will learn sewing machine basics, simple seam finishes, pressing techniques and basic hand stitching. Open to boys and girls, ages 8 to 13. You will complete several beginning projects that may be entered in the county fair including a pillowcase, pincushion and needlebook. Please bring a sewing machine, fabric scissors and sewing toolbox if you have them. Bring your lunch! Come explore entomology and start your own bug collection. Camp is led by Krysti Nienhueser. Learn where fibers come from and what makes them unique. Once the case is closed, each detective will have the opportunity to experiment with various dye techniques to create a sample book, silk scarf and fabric yardage. Learn the science of fabric dyeing with unique materials and tricks for creating winning color combinations. This workshop is to “dye” for! Designed for 4-H members, ages 10 and older, who are enrolled in the NEW Beyond the Needle project. Bring your lunch! Grades: 4th - 12th Fee: $15 Registration: Limited space Learn the art of linoleum block printing from local artist, Cindi Egging Carve your own stamp to create stamped art in a block print format. Leave with a framed work of art. Explore the color wheel as you learn to crochet using fabric strips to create your own potholder or throw rug. Taught by Kathy Krahulik, this class explores a traditional folk craft. All Ages IT’S ALL ABOUT THE BASE Thursday, June 18 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Lodgepole Valley Youth Camp, Sidney Grades: 4th - 12th Fee: $15 Livestock judging is the evaluation of an animal’s characteristics and making a comparison to other animals and the ideal standard of that particular class. Test your judging skills at this annual competition featuring beef, sheep and swine. Wednesday, June 25 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Kimball County Fairgrounds, Kimball Grades: 2nd - 12th Fee: $10 Using your true colors, paint and decorate a wooden cut out of the State of Nebraska at this Design Decisions Workshop. Grades: 4th - 8th Fee: $45 Registration: Limited space Build your own rocket to launch on Friday and work with a partner to build a EV3 robot to navigate an obstacle course. Transportation from Sidney is available. 4-H WORKSHOP REGISTRATION The 4-H Summer Workshops are open to all youth. You may attend workshops at either location. Workshops are geared to specific age groups so please make sure you use the grade the youth will be entering in the Fall.
