View Our Annual Report - Tennessee Coalition to End Domestic
2015 Annual Report Message from the Executive Director Dear Friends, This is an exciting time for the Coalition. We are passionate about our mission to end rape and abuse in Tennessee and so very grateful for your support. While 2015 presented challenges for the Coalition and our member programs across the state including increasing demand for services, funding cuts, and a shifting political climate, it also provided new opportunities to enhance prevention efforts at colleges and universities, expand our reach, and provide more services to victims of domestic and sexual violence. On the public policy front, the Coalition helped pass landmark legislation to insure all rape kits in Tennessee will be tested and require law enforcement agencies to have policies and procedures on providing a trauma informed response to sexual assault victims. We were very honored to receive the Access to Care Award from the Baptist Healing Trust in recognition of our successful advocacy efforts in expanding services, especially for the vulnerable and underserved in Middle Tennessee. None of this work would have been possible without you. Thank you for helping us do more to restore hope, change lives, and build a better future. Hope brighter future for a the selfless act giving donors like you. bottom of our heart, of from From the we Kathy Walsh Executive Director 2 lies in thank you. 3 Our Purpose To end domestic and sexual violence in Tennessee What We Do Advocate for new laws and policies which increase safety for victims Provide emergency assistance and direct legal services to victims Offer training and technical assistance Foster statewide partnerships Develop effective programs Educate communities Why We Do It 1 in 3 women will be a victim of rape or abuse in their lifetime We believe everyone should be safe from rape and abuse 4 5 Impact by the numbers 174 420 victims received legal services 483,391 survivors received financial assistance dollars invested in local communities 32 batterers’ intervention programs certified 66,793 victims served 858 people trained 39,901 social media posts victims served in one day by TN’s domestic violence shelters 6 2,573 25,143 people received technical assistance 7 2015 Board Members Chair: Carrie Daughtrey Vice Chair: Regina McDevitt Secretary: Carmen Wyatt Treasurer: Judge Kelvin D.
