The single wire design of the Braun basket is unique in our industry. Stress is distributed to all
parts of the basket rather than being focused on one part. Braun baskets are "Tailor Made"
to carefully fit every tree spade in the industry to provide a better package, while reducing the
need for crimping. We manufacture a complete series of Continuous Wire Baskets.
CLEGG/BRADCO - cylinder
shaped, flat welded bottom, in 9°
or 15° taper for Clegg spades and
for process balling.
AGGB BASKET - a new concept
of above ground growing.
ROKOR BASKETS - made specifically to contour fit the curvature
of the Rokor spade.
DUTCHMAN - made at the current
angle of each spade.
OPTIMAL - made at precisely the
right curvature for the Optimal

Exceptional Strength
The strength of the Continuous Wire Basket is based on several
unique features. One continuous length of wire is woven into a
pattern of vertical and horizontal spirals welded at as many as 96
points. The distribution of stress minimizes chances of weld
breakages. The vertical ribs of the Braun basket are contained and
reinforced by horizontal ribs located on the outside of the basket.
The verticals are tightly sandwiched between the tree ball itself and
the noose like horizontals. As a consequence of the "sandwich
design", the overall strength and durability of the basket is
multiplied and reinforced.

Designed for pigtail crimps
The malleable wire, chosen for the Continuous Wire
Basket ranges from 12 gauge on the 14 inch baskets,
to 5 gauge on the 122 inch baskets. Strength and
"crimpability" are provided without the breakage
characteristic of brittle hard wire. Crimping of a few
points, performs the dual function of tightening the
wire basket around the tree ball and by virtue of the
"pig tail" style crimp, tightens the lacing to a degree
impossible by hand. The superior tightness is
achieved because a crimp in the single strand basket,
pulls the entire basket together like a tourniquet.
This eliminates the numerous, time consuming Z
crimps normally used. Both the horizontal and
vertical wire can be "pig tail" crimped. The only
part of the basket that should not be crimped is the
top loop. The pigtail crimps stay in place assuring
the arrival of a tight, neat rootball at the final
destination.

Braun lists all measurements of each size and style of basket which is needed when
correctly sizing basket to root ball.
These dimensions are listed as: Diameter Loops on Daisy or Ball Boy form
a circle. On 4 or 5 Loop the

CUSTOM baskets are "Tailor Made"
to carefully fit most tree spades in the
industry, providing a better package.
The single wire design of the CUSTOM
basket will distribute stress to all parts of the basket rather than
being focused on one part. The lighter gauge, malleable wire chosen
for the Continuous Wire CUSTOM Basket ranges from 12 gauge on
14 inch baskets to 10 gauge on the 32 inch baskets. Rigorous field
tests of the light wire baskets have proven reliable.
NOT RECOMMENDED THAT THEY BE LIFTED BY THE LOOPS.

In response to requests from professional diggers, we have developed a
wire basket that is suited for application around a root ball.
The “WRAPPER” is a handy basket for odd shaped root balls, for
areas inaccessible to tree spades, for reballing heeled in trees.
Application of the “WRAPPER” is easy. Place it around the root ball;
close like a belt and pigtail crimp to tighten.

Ball & Burlap your plant in conventional manner - Place the
burlapped ball on flat lying mesh basket - Raise mesh basket
upwards around ball to the top of the ball - Tighten draw wire
mesh by holding ball with one hand and pulling the draw wire
with the other hand, until the basket is snug around the root ball
To tighten - Place hook at the intersection of 2 wires - Rotate
tying tool a few times gently until wire is tight around the root
ball - Tuck protruding wire into the root ball
