Pulque Story
J
The consumption of pulque is a deeprooted tradition. Made from the agave
plant, and developed by the Aztecs, it
was a sacred fermented drink only to be
consumed by priests, senior citizens and
the sick and drunk in rituals to their gods.
Contemporary pulquerias are opening
their doors where a new generation can
drink it, listen to music in a modern, yet
traditionally-decorated place.

Chiapas iron blessings are a tradition in
San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas.
Since Colonial times, people in San
Cristobal placed hand forged iron
blessings on their roofs as a magical
protection against earthquakes and
other natural disasters.
They are a Maya and Christian symbol
of peace, justice and hope.
