However, Coop is far more than just the well-known supermarket around the corner. The Coop Group also includes a wide variety of different sales formats that do not display the Coop logo, as well as wholesale and manufacturing companies. The aim of this information brochure is to give you an insight into the colourful world of the Coop Group and show you the diversity of our range of products and services. With its two core areas of retail and wholesale / production, the Coop Group is able to maintain a firm footing, both in Switzerland and in Europe as a whole. It is of particular concern to us that the different business areas within the Coop Group should increasingly work together and benefit from one another. We are especially proud of our environmentally and socially responsible ranges and our sustainable products and services. We play a pioneering role in this area and have already won several national and international awards. This recognition spurs us on to continue our commitment with conviction and enjoyment. Our employees, who attend to their many and varied tasks with passion, form the basis of our success. We are in good shape and therefore look forward to facing the future together and tackling the challenges that will come our way. Coop firmly believes that sustainability is an important basis for a company’s long-term success. For this reason, Coop has firmly enshrined sustainability in its Articles of Association, its corporate profile and its missions. With its sustainability strategy concept, Coop ensures that the dimension of sustainability is incorporated into all its corporate strategies. The sustainability strategy concept is based on three pillars: Pillar 1: Sustainable products and services How we act as consumers has a considerable impact on both people and the environment. Coop is promoting sustainable consumption with particularly sustainable products, conscious range selection, targeted customer information and, especially, a variety of advertising activities. It promotes compliance with demanding minimum requirements along the entire value chain, is involved in pioneering procurement projects, and cultivates long-term partnerships in organic farming, for example. 20 RETAIL Pillar 2: Resource efficiency and climate protection The efficient use of resources and energy helps to both reduce our consumption of these resources and lower costs. Coop’s efforts in this regard focus on the consistent implementation of the “CO2-neutral by 2023” vision and the associated reduction in energy consumption and greater use of renewable energies. Other important topics are logistics and goods transport, waste avoidance, packaging optimization and recycling, responsible water management and sustainable construction. 11:03 TÄGERWILEN Organic white cabbage farming for Coop 05:27 VIETNAM, SHRIMP FARM Purchasing organic shrimps for Naturaplan 07:36 HONDURAS, COCOA PLANTATION Fairtrade cultivation of cocoa beans for Chocolats Halba Actions not words no. 85 10:30 ALLSCHWIL, COOP SUPERMARKET Mounting the new LED logo We are consistently reducing our CO2 emissions. actions-not-words.ch To the top with innovative achievements in sustainability Integrated brand and corporate communication on sustainability Sustainable products & services Resource efficiency & climate protection Employees & society 02:50 Processes and tools HONG KONG, EUROGROUP FAR EAST Meeting to implement social standards with the business partners SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY RETAIL 21 11:03 17:14 POLAND, OSTRICH FARM Quality check of ostrich rearing BASEL, COOP SUPERMARKET Recycling made easy 13:54 INTERLAKEN Event for around 2 000 Coop employees on the theme of own-label sustainability brands 09:22 AFFOLTERN, COOP SUPERMARKET Food being handed over to “Schweizer Tafel” (Swiss Table) 14:12 WOLHUSEN, TROPENHAUS Visiting a Coop Sustainability Fund project 11:30 MADHYA PRADESH, INDIA Visit to the Biore Animation School as part of the Coop Naturaline media trip. 22 RETAIL 10:05 15:40 STEINMAUR Organics event for Coop apprentices BASEL, NATURE TRADE FAIR Information stand on the topic of biodiversity 63:70 -OAKAK,SARUDNOH EGATNALP rüf uabnA-edartriaF ablaH stalocohC 16:00 VALAIS, BELALP A visit to a Coop Aid for Mountain Regions project Pillar 3: Employees and society As an employer, Coop provides training for apprentices, a standardized and progressive collective employment agreement for the whole of Switzerland and a generous pension scheme, and endeavours to integrate disabled people into the work process.
