GEOS Chelsea: The St. James Building
The St. James Building was built in 1886 has
stunning views of Madison Square Park, the
Flatiron District and Midtown. When the St.
James Building was built on the site of one
of the 19th century's most elegant hotels, it
stood in the heart of New York's wealthiest
neighborhood just across from Delmonico's.
Designed by renowned architect Bruce Price,
it is a striking combination of stone, brick,
terra cotta, iron and copper in the Beaux
Arts style with extensive detailing inside and
out. One of its original treasures, a lobby
mural painted by the famous French decorating firm of Arthur Brounet, is maintained
in its original glory.

GEOS NEW YORK
GEOS staff always cares about our students’ needs. We help our student increase their Standard English levels and work on improving their TOEFL iBT
score, make new international friends and have a memorable experience studying aboard. We provide quality language courses in a comfortable atmosphere.
Also, we provide Homestay service, academic counseling and social activities
every month.
ACCOMMODATION - HOMESTAY
The GEOS Homestay Program is intended to
give visiting foreign students a first-hand experience at American culture by sharing in
their host family’s everyday life. As well as being able to use practical English language skills
they have learned in school, it is expected that
students will be able to participate in family
activities for a holistic view of life in New York
City. A GEOS staff member visits each of our
homestay families with student's interests in
mind. Our aim is to provide our students with a
secure, educational, and economical environment. Our host families live in safe, comfortable neighborhoods in Brooklyn, Queens and
Northern New Jersey.
STUDENT ACADEMIC
COUNSELING
During the first two weeks of study, all
new students will be asked to take part
in an academic counseling session with
the school's academic staff. You will
have the opportunity to discuss and
your academic plan. Also, all students
meet with their teachers for one-on-one
counseling at the end of each 4-week
session.

Monthly Testimonial from GEOS students
My name is Hiroko Shimokawa. I have been studying English at GEOS New York for 4 weeks. I was so happy with
my teachers, James and Brian and my nice classmates. Also,
my host mom and her daughter were so kind to me. We
went to a movie on weekend and we had a great time at the
restaurant.
I saw great culture in New York and I met great people in
the city. I am so lucky to be at New York and study at
GEOS in my life. Thank you so much!
Hiroko Shimokawa from (Japan)
I've studied at GEOS in New York for 12 weeks and had a wonderful experience here. Time just went fast!
Although Coming New York was a big challenge for me and my
family, the staff of GEOS was so nice to me. Ms. Nobuko gave
me a kind reply-mail for my questions before arriving here and
Sarah welcomed me warmly on my first day. I was so lucky for
having a great chance to study with such good teachers. Alicia- a
pretty academic, Matt- an energetic gourmet, Steady Matt-a cool
musician and David-a real gentleman. I just thank them for their
endeavor and passion and everything. I really enjoyed all
classes and excursion days at the Grand Central Station and Central Park! Now I have unforgettable and precious memories from
GEOS!
What about good friends I've met here? I want to thank every
single classmate of mine. Now I really would like to visit all their
countries like Italy, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and Japan.
I'm sure I could meet good people like I did in class. The more
