FUN ZONE DROP-IN PROGRAM (Game room / gymnasium)
Are you looking for fun and exciting activities for your children? Look no
further. The Neighborhood Recreation Center offers a variety of programs
such as special events, on the spot games, tournaments, arts & crafts and
physical activities. The program goal is to provide a safe, fun and supervised
alternative for youth after school. IMPORTANT! This is a drop-in program. Youth
come and go as they please.

FUN ZONE MEMBERSHIP - $3 monthly
All youth must be registered by a parent or guardian. Children must have their
membership cards in their possession to participate. If a participant’s card is
lost or stolen, a new card must be purchased. A $3 replacement card fee

FREE THROW SHOOTING CONTEST
Two age divisions. 1st place receives a two year Fun Zone membership and
trophy; 2nd place receives a one year Fun Zone membership and trophy; 3rd
place receives a six month Fun Zone membership and trophy.

CLASSES
HOW TO REGISTER FOR CLASSES AT THE NEIGHBORHOOD RECREATION CENTER
Fill out a class household information card and pay the required fees at the
center. You are not enrolled into the class until you have: 1) signed the waiver
on the back of the household information card, 2) your fees have been paid,
and 3) you have received your receipt. You may also register online starting
the first day of registration! Look for the class registration link under Online
Services on the City’s web page www.cityofnorthlasvegas.com
Please Note: The City of North Las Vegas reserves the right to prorate class
fees as necessary due to holidays, etc.
FITNESS FACILITY
The Neighborhood Recreation Center offers a variety of state of the art free
weights, strength and cardiovascular machines to help improve and maintain
your overall fitness level. Participants must be 18 years of age or older and
show a valid Picture I.D. at the time of registration. Lockers are provided on
site for bags and personal items.

DANCE
Comfortable clothing and bottled water suggested for most classes. Ballet
& Tap students must supply their own ballet and tap shoes. Leotards are
suggested.
BODY FAT ANALYSIS TESTING
The Neighborhood Recreation Center offers free body fat testing once a month
to track the results from your hard work and dedication in the fitness room
(additional monthly testing will be $3). Please see instructor Janet Mantilla for
assistance.

This is the perfect class for children who want to explore the world of ballet
and tap. Students will learn the fundamentals of dance in a fun and creative
setting.

KARATE II - Instructor: Stephanie Gorden
This class offers an extension of Karate I. Instructors permission is required to
enroll. Karate II includes a style of martial arts that is a combination of GojuShorei, Shoto-Kan, Tae Kwon Do, BKF Kenpo and Jujitsu. During the training
process students will learn self defense, self-discipline and respect for others.
Must have an orange belt or higher.

to increase the fitness level of the whole family. Comfortable clothing and
bottled water are suggested.
BOOT CAMP AEROBICS - Instructor: Janet Mantilla
Join the ultimate circuit workout combining intervals of cardio drills and
muscle conditioning drills. Enjoy the variety of classes that may use jump
ropes, boxing drills, relay races and even a little healthy competition. These
high-intensity classes will help you to burn between 400-600 calories. Suitable
for all levels – but let the instructor know if this is your first time in class.

Silver Mesa offers two fitness rooms. One room has a variety of strength and
resistance equipment and the second room has the latest cardiovascular
machines to help improve and maintain your overall fitness level. The cardio
room is equipped with a state of the art cardio theater as well as a sound
system to get you moving during your workout. So bring your headphones
from home for use on the cardio machines and tune into our TV’s! Users must
be members.

SAFEKEY PROGRAM
Safekey is a structured before and after school program for K-5th grade
children. Safekey is offered at school sites and provides a variety of activities
and social events such as arts and crafts, fitness activities and physical
games that are facilitated by trained staff.
KIDDIE KOLLEGE EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
Kiddie Kollege is a positive, recreational learning environment utilizing creative
art, music and constructive play for young children. This is a 9-month class with

Children may work on homework during the hours of Safekey but we cannot
enforce the completion of homework or ensure that it is done correctly.
Safekey is a recreation based program, we do not offer tutoring or homework
help. This is to ensure that children are not misadvised on homework.
You must sign your child in and out daily. The person who is scheduled to pick
up your child must be listed on the participation form and they must show
proper identification.
Every child must have a new Safekey participation form on file for the 20152016 school year.
Children are encouraged to wear closed toed athletic shoes daily. Flip flops
and sandals are not advised for indoor or outdoor active play.

STICKS FOR KIDS: Golf is an excellent forum to introduce youth to physical
activity, to increase youth’s environmental awareness and to provide an
opportunity to learn a lifetime sport. The Sticks for Kids program provides as many
children as possible with a set of clubs to use while learning to play the game
of golf. The Par 3 Golf Course is proud to offer the Sticks for Kids clubs that are
available for use at no cost. See the pro shop staff for more information.
SPECIAL PROGRAMS: Par 3 golf course is a Boy Scouts Merit Badge Cub Scouts Loop & Pin Certified Location. Please call and book an individual tee
time for a trooper or group time for an entire troop. Par 3 encourages parent
participation or supervision while troopers are fulfilling their requirements to
obtain their badge or loop & pin.
MUNICIPAL PAR 3 LIGHTED GOLF COURSE
TOURNAMENTS: The Par 3 golf course hosts multiple tournaments
throughout the year. Tournaments are held internally, through leagues or the

The City of North Las Vegas operates a 9-hole, par three golf course 7 days a week
that offers the best golf value in the Las Vegas area. Open year round, the course
can be enjoyed by golfers of all ages and abilities. It is especially user friendly
for seniors and beginners. The length is not intimidating, there are no artificial
hazards and the small greens present a challenge to the more accomplished
players.
LESSONS: The City of North Las Vegas is proud to offer golf lessons for
beginner to intermediate golfers. Classes are held once a week, for 4 weeks.
Beginner classes are $35.00 and meet for 60 minutes. Intermediate classes are
$40.00 and meet for 90 minutes. Private lessons are now available at various times
on weekdays, M-F. These are non-group lessons for all ages 6+ and have a ratio
of (1) instructor to (1) student. Private lessons are for 4 weeks, 60 minutes per
week for $50.00. Clubs are available at no additional charge for participant use
during lesson time.
The course is well maintained and offers gently rolling terrain with many mature
trees and a great view of the Las Vegas Valley. The course was the first lighted
course in Nevada and golfers can tee off as late as 4:30pm during the fall season.
There is a small coffee shop and pro shop located in the clubhouse, featuring top
of the line products.

MOBILE STAGE: Are you looking for a stage to host a concert, a special
event, a company picnic or even your own community gathering? Well, the City
of North Las Vegas Neighborhood and Leisure Services Department has a great,
fully equipped mobile stage to suit your needs! Along with the mobile stage,
we also can provide sound, lighting, generator and our highly skilled technicians.

Desert is a little different but it can be done successfully. If you have tried to grow
your own vegetables but haven’t been successful or are gardening for the first
time and want to develop your green thumb, we have a class for you. Learn how
to have a successful garden from seed to harvest.

CANCELLATION POLICY: We understand unplanned events come up and
you may need to cancel your reservation. If this is the case, cancellation must be
made at least 14 days prior to your reservation. All cancellation requests must be
made in writing with the name of reservation holder, reservation date and contract
number. Cancellations made prior to the 14 days are subject to a fee of 50% of
reservation costs. For cancellations made less than 14 days of reservation, NO
REFUNDS will be issued. No refunds will be approved due to inclement weather.
REFUND POLICY: Refunds are subject to approval. All approved refunds will
be applied to the original payee and credit card number unless paid with cash
or check. If paid by cash or check, a check will be returned via the mail. Refund
process may take up to three (3) weeks.

2ND ANNUAL CRAIG RANCH ACTION SPORTS COMPETITON
PERSONAL BAR-B-QUE GRILLS: For the safety of our patrons, personal
The City of North Las Vegas is proud to be hosting the 2nd Annual Craig Ranch
Action Sports Competition featuring pro-BMXer Ricardo Laguna! Saturday,
August 29 from 12:00noon to 8:00pm in the Craig Ranch Skate Park. Participants of
all ages are given the opportunity to compete on skateboards, scooters or bikes
for awards and prizes from an Advanced and Intermediate level. Event features
include action demonstrations, face painting, a video game mobile, rock climbing
wall and food for purchase.
bar-b-que grills are not permitted within Craig Ranch Regional Park.
COMMUNITY GARDEN: The community garden offers sixty-two, 5 ft.
x 13 ft. personal garden plots that are available for reservations annually.
Applications for the Community Garden are available online at www.
cityofnorthlasvegas.com or stop by the Information Kiosk. (#17) The annual fee
is $150.00 per plot and includes water usage.
Day of admission is $5 for spectators, $20 to compete. Pre-registration is $15 from
July 13th until August 27th at the following locations: Craig Ranch Regional Park
Office (851 W. Lone Mountain), Silver Mesa Recreation Center (4025 Allen Lane)
and the Neighborhood Recreation Center (1638 N. Bruce St.) PLEASE NOTE:
Only competitiors will be allowed skateboards, bikes and scooters at the park.
HELMETS REQUIRED (Safety equipment recommended).
FARMERS MARKET: On the Ranch Farmers and Artisan Market is open
EVERY SUNDAY (rain, shine & holidays) inside of Craig Ranch Regional Park. Our
new summer hours are 8:00am-1:00pm through Sep. Fall hours 9:00am-2:00pm.
Come out and get your farm fresh organic and conventionally grown produce
and honey for the week along with locally made spices, sauces, oils & vinegars,
kettle corn, Hawaiian shaved ice, handmade jewelry, crafts, natural skincare
products, clothing, incenses & oils, children’s books, Reiki sessions, hot foods and
more! Don’t stop for coffee or tea because we have our very own veteran owned
café on-site! We accept cash, credit, SNAP/EBT, and Senior Nutrition Coupons.
