T
hink about the notion of physical freedom. Now think
about the bicycle. For those in love with the cycling
lifestyle, it’s hard to separate these two ideas;
they are, in many respects, totally synonymous.
With increased speed and agility, our autonomy reaches
new heights. Without the aid of fossil fuels, we can move
quickly now, travelling over great distances and across
huge variances in geography and experience along the way.
We are, in a word, independent.
We know that’s why you ride bikes. It’s why you sell bikes.
And most importantly, why you sell Kona. We put our foot
down in 2014, firmly asserting ourselves as the independent bicycle company we’ve always been, one committed
to doing things our own way—The Kona Way. You did the
same, standing by your business, your way of doing things.
You stood by Kona, and together we’ve got the bicycling
world talking.
“This is not a story about the search for a bike that can run
a short stem, it’s about a company that has gone against
the grain and been bold enough to bring a bike with a low
standover in all sizes, bikes that are simple to understand
by way of progressive suspension, are stiff and reliable
with good hardware, reasonable pricing and good component spec.” –Steve Jones, Dirt Magazine

It seems staying true to our roots and doing things our own
way is paying off. Bikes like the Process 111, the Rove, the
Precept, the Carbon Operator and the constantly evolving
Cinder Cone continue to show both our consumers and our
competition that the Kona Way of doing things isn’t necessarily traditional, nor does it follow trend. It does, however,
recognize the fact that a bike can always be better.
For 2015, we haven’t slowed down. You’ll see unique
products throughout our collection of nearly 80 bikes: new
additions to the Process line, most notably, the 26-inchwheel Process 167 and the small-person-specific Process
134 SE. There’s the Esatto platform in Road Endurance, the
perfectly priced Precept 200 downhill bike and the ultimate
in Freerange, the Big Rove—just imagine what that bike
can do.
As our family continues to grow, as the bicycle industry
continues to flourish in a world struggling to experience
true physical freedom, we’re honored you’re on the same
fiercely independent ride with us. The fact remains that the
original founders are still an integral part of the company.
No one owns any part of us and we don’t own any part of
anything else. Just Kona. Just bikes. Nothing else.

THE KONA RIDE - 2015
MATERIALS: CROMOLY
W
e’ve never stepped away from the honest ride feel of cromoly
steel. It’s the original bike material, and its application is just as
relevant, cool, and long-lasting as it was when we made our first
Kona Cromoly Cinder Cone back in 1988. Over that time we’ve
made hundreds of different models of cromoly bikes, from road bikes and
commuters, straight through to cyclocross, cross-country, and dirt jumpers,
right up to the very modern, hardcore trail bikes like the Honzo. Depending
on price point and application, we incorporate three different types of steel.
.........................................................................................................................
REYNOLDS 520
From one of the world’s top cromoly manufacturers, Reynolds
Cycling Technology, Reynolds 520 tubes are mandrelbutted for accurate profiles and available in a wide range
of shapes. Weight savings from butting provides competitively priced,
light framesets that are noticeably compliant on the road or the trail, and
are guaranteed to last a lifetime. The Reynolds 520 range uses the same
chemistry as their 725 range but without the heat-treatment process.

KONA RACE LIGHT
SCANDIUM 69
Known to have one of the highest strengthto-weight ratios for any alloy in the world,
Scandium has been a hallmark in our bikes since we
first introduced the material in 2000. Since that time, it’s
found a home in light and quick 29-inch hardtails, savvy
all-mountain rides and recreationally oriented, well-priced
mountain bikes.
For 2015, our commitment to the material grows
significantly, with new Kona Race Light Scandium 69
models showing up throughout our growing range of Road
bikes, from the new Road endurance Esattos to the base
model Zone, through to the Kahuna Deluxe, Kula and
Cinder Cone.
Introduced to our line in 2012, Race Light Scandium 69
comes with yield strengths that are about 40 percent
higher than previous Scandium alloys. The result is
the strongest per-weight aluminum alloy ever made.
Because of its fibrous or fine-grained structure, Race
Light Scandium 69 alloy reveals a unique combination of
corrosion resistance and excellent fatigue strength.

For 2015, you'll find the simplicity, strength, comfort,
resilience and playfulness of Kona Cromoly interspersed
throughout our road- and mountain-bike platforms. Very
few materials offer as much shock absorption, durability and supple-ride
characteristics as steel. We’ve never strayed from cycling’s original material
and have worked tirelessly to adapt, refine and innovate Kona Cromoly
framesets as rider demands continue to evolve.

THE KONA RIDE
THE KONA RIDE
THE KONA RIDE - 2015
WHAT IS SCANDIUM?
Scandium is the eighth most abundant rare element on
earth. A silvery white metal extracted from the earth’s
crust, Scandium is a potent grain refiner that, when added
to aluminum alloys, elevates the strength and durability of
the material by 50 percent. It does this by “straightening”
out the grains of the alloy, making the metal less
susceptible to failure. It’s this strength and durability
that makes Scandium alloys an attractive material
when it comes to manufacturing bicycles. Strength is
so much higher—Scandium alloy is twice as strong as
6061 or 7005 aluminum—that we’re able to use much
less material to achieve riding characteristics similar to
steel. With Scandium we’re able to shave weight from our
aluminum frames by 10 to 15 percent.
KONA 7005/6061
ALUMINUM BUTTED
Kona 7005 and 6061 Aluminum alloys
are used extensively throughout our
fleet of mountain and asphalt bicycles.
A tough, durable, affordable, light
alloy, both Kona 7005 and 6061 deliver
fantastic, reliable performance that
lasts for thousands of rides. Much of our 7005/6061
tubing is butted and/or formed, meaning the tubing’s
wall thickness can be increased or decreased, as well
as shaped, allowing us to fine-tune a particular frame’s
strength and ride characteristics depending on its
intended application.

KONA RACE LIGHT
7005 ALUMINUM
BUTTED
Kona Race Light 7005 is a lighter, more
performance-oriented fabrication of
our 7005 tubing. Designed to meet
Kona’s discerning race specifications,
Race Light 7005 uses custom butting
to create thicker tubes at weld areas and important
parts of the frame, providing incredible strength and
torsional integrity to the feel of the ride. We remove wall
thickness in other parts of the frameset to lighten up
the bike, giving the perfect balance between quickness
and stiffness. The emphasis here is on performance,
lightness and speed, built the Kona Way.

C
omfort, stability, durability, standover, cornering performance and every nuance in between: the Kona Ride has long been
a definitive element of what makes our company unique. And while we make bicycles for almost every type of rider and
ride surface imaginable, at the end of the day, we design bikes that are playful and fun. Because as long-time cyclists,
we know that a bike is all about you, the engine inside.
COMPACT REAR
TRIANGLE
Short chainstays and seatstays provide
a perfect balance of stability and power
transfer when out of the saddle and pedaling hard. Shorter
seatstays also have less deflection during braking and
accelerate faster than longer stays. A more compact rear
triangle also helps the bike to negotiate tight-twisting
sections of trail. The Honzo, Operator and Process 111 are
good examples of 2015 bikes with incredibly compact rear
triangles: quick, aggressive in corners, easy to maneuver
and laterally stiff.
...............................................................................................
HYDROFORMED TUBING
Hydroforming is a tube-shaping technology
that uses high-pressure liquid to form
the shape of a tube and align its grain
structure. Quite simply, the technology delivers a sound
structure and ride performance like no other tube-shaping
process in the world and results in a seamless, continuous,
aligned piece of metal, right down to the fiber structure
itself. Hydroformed tubing is especially advantageous at
weld points where tubes can be flared to increase weld
areas, adding strength without adding weight in the form
of extra gussets. The result is a strong, flawless frame with
great lateral stability, durability and responsiveness.
...............................................................................................
SUPERPLASTIC
FORMED TUBING
Superplastic Forming (SPF) uses high
temperatures to shape aluminum tubing
when the tube structure is in its most formable state.
SPF creates tube shapes that cannot be produced using
traditional forming techniques; 90 percent of the tube
can be shaped, resulting in more optimized shapes and
less weight. SPF tubes are the perfect alternative to more
expensive carbon fiber and are comparable in weight and
performance.
INTERNAL HEADSETS
The major benefit of an internal headset,
whereby the bearing cups are actually
pressed into the frame and are easily
removable, is the extra layer of protection it provides the
bearings against the elements. Additionally, the bearings
are commonly available angular contact bearings, which are
easily and inexpensively replaced. An internal headset also
reduces stack height, so the height of the stem and bars are
more adjustable, giving the rider the best fit possible.
...............................................................................................
INTEGRATED HEADSETS
Integrated headsets are simple, light and
effective headset systems whereby the
bearing race cups are actually part of the
head tube, be they machined away and left with the head
tube, or glued in (carbon) or welded in with steel or alloy.
Like an internal headset, an integrated headset also reduces
stack height, so the height of the stem and bars are more
adjustable, giving the rider the best fit possible. Providing
effective, precise steering, you’ll find integrated headsets
on our collection of Road Endurance and Race bikes like the
Zones and Esattos.
...............................................................................................
TAPERED HEAD TUBE
Aside from improving the aesthetic, due to its
cleaner lines and smooth transition between
the fork crown and the headset cover, tapered
head tubes also offer a more solid interface between forks
with tapered steertubes and the bicycle frame itself, thanks
to more weld contact area. More girth at the bottom of the
head tube better distributes shock force, prolonging the
bearing life of the headset itself, eliminates brake shudder,
all while providing positive steering performance. The
inherent strength of its triangular design also means a
stronger steering position and improved balance, giving the
rider more control in rough terrain. A zero-stack, tapered
head tube also puts strength where the load is going—into
the lower headset cup—maximizing bearing durability where
it’s needed.
44MM HEAD TUBE
44mm oversized heatubes allow us to
run tapered steerer forks by using a
large external lower cup headset bearing.
Primarily used on our Titanium and Cromoly models, where
tapering the frame material of the head tube is prohibitive,
44m head tube allows us to include of the precise steering
and frame stiffness associated with a tapered steerer fork.
.............................................................................................
TUBELESS
COMPATIBLE RIMS
An increasing amount of 2015 Kona models
feature the benefits of tubeless compatible
rims. Tubeless rims allow for tires with more puncture
resistance, better tire grip on the trail, lower rolling
resistance and weight savings over traditional tube + tire
systems. For 2015, you’ll find tubeless compatible rims on
most of our XC Race Light and Enduro bikes, as well as
throughout our Cyclocross and Road platforms.
............................................................................................
12X142 / 12X157
REAR AXLES
The XC/Trail/Enduro 12x142mm and the
DH 12x157 rear axle standards provide
two major advantages to the Kona rider:
the 12mm diameter of the rear axle
provides the rear hub and frame with a
stiff interface, while the 142mm/157mm
outer diameter of the hub allows the wheel to be quickly
and properly positioned in the frame before the rear axle
is inserted. The take-away? 12x142 and 12x157 standards
make a bike that rides better and is easier to work on.
EVOLVED SIZING AND FIT
Fit is the prime contributor to comfort and
confidence on any type of bike design.
It is especially critical on MTB Trail and
Enduro bikes where the uphill speed and efficiency an XC
bike needs is at balance with the control of a downhill
bike. Many mountain bikes currently on the market are still
subject to the traditional fit and sizing mountain bikes
took from road-bike sizing standards, whereby seat tube
length defined the sizing, and stem lengths increased with
frame size. As a result, riders have been forced to replace
stock stems because they are too long for use in technical
terrain. While this Band-Aid solution has improved the ride,
we would argue the balance of the bike has been negatively
affected. Radically shortening a stem, without regard
for the geometry of the bike, will create a bike that is too
small, and it shifts the weight bias rearward and creates a
steep head angle, resulting in a twitchy ride. No good.
In 2012, Kona took the modest step of offering a Trail
hardtail with a longer reach, shorter stem and slack
head angle. To balance the wheelbase growth from the
longer reach we aggressively shortened the chainstays. In
2013, we built on this by offering the first Process model,
featuring the same formula: long top tube, short stem and
short chainstays. In 2015, we’re cranking the volume by
offering a total of 11 different Process models, each with
the trail-worthy balance of long reach, short stem, slack
head angle and short chainstays.
On our XC Race bikes, we feature longer top tubes coupled
with shorter stems and slightly shorter headset stack
heights. The steps between sizes are at a half-inch to oneinch increments, with up to seven sizes ranging from 14 to
22 inches on many models.
Our Commuter, Road, CX, and Freerange platforms offer
up to seven sizes from 46cm to 63cm. When it’s called
for, seatposts are either offset or straight to maximize the
reach and power output of the rider. More importantly,
our comprehensive bike sizing allows Kona dealers to
determine rider fit more easily from model to model and
category to category.

INDEPENDENT SUSPENSION
S
uspension design is an exercise in finding balance. For our designers, this means extensive study of the relationship
between leverage rate curve, pivot placement, geometry, intended use and rider fit. These ride characteristics come
to life through an unwavering attention to detail, not newfangled suspension gimmicks. Based on a single-pivot
suspension design philosophy that centers around a linkage actuated shock, Kona Independent Suspension is a
three-configuration system that wholly focused on providing great performance without over-complicated technology.
CLEAN CABLE ROUTING
Throughout Kona’s 2015 range, you’ll find
many subtle changes to cable routing.
Some are now internal, while others have
been rerouted to improve performance and tidy aesthetics.
These are small changes you may not even notice, but
rest assured the changes are designed with ease-ofmaintenance in mind and are not fashion-driven. New for
2015, you’ll find dropper post routing throughout our MTB
platforms, including our Race Light bikes.
............................................................................................
DROPPER POSTS
Dropper posts are a key element in riding
technical singletrack. No surprise then,
for 2015 we’ve spec’d dropper posts on
numerous models throughout our Enduro and MTB Trail
platforms, featuring the lightweight and proven seat posts
from Kind Shock. New for 2015, you’ll find internal and
external routing for dropper posts throughout our Race
Light XC mountain bikes.
............................................................................................
27.5-INCH WHEELS
The benefits of the 27.5-inch wheel are
simple: they roll over obstacles and track
better than 26-inch wheels, but are
more maneuverable and nimble than 29-inch ones. They
are, quite literally, the best of both worlds, effectively
increasing overall performance and rider confidence. No
surprise then, that 27.5-inch wheels have found their way
throughout our Mountain Bike range. You’ll find the wheel
size throughout our Enduro platform and now throughout
many of our traditional mountain bikes, like the Cinder
Cone, Blast and Lana’i.

RIDE-SPECIFIC GEOMETRY
& LEVERAGE RATE CURVE
The little details of frame geometry make up the perfect
ride. Kona’s relentless focus on finding the best balance of
these details for a given discipline gives every one of our
bikes the distinct Kona Ride. Kona Independent Suspension
allows us to tweak the angles and the dimensions of our
bikes down to the exact millimeter. When it comes to actual
suspension performance, our leverage rate curves are
designed to provide the best ride for certain applications.
How do we do that? By making the suspension predictable
throughout the travel and easy to tune.
DURABILTY
Tested in the Pacific Northwest, our prototype frames
spend their winters on the North Shore and in the muck
and mud of Washington. Summer finds them in the
Whistler Bike Park or all-day rides in the alpine. What
have we learned from all of this? That widely spaced
pivots featuring oversized bearings stop early-bearing
wear from side loading and create better resistance to
pressure washers.

ROCKER INDEPENDENT SUSPENSION
Different riders have different needs, but Trail and Enduro riders need a lot of everything—from downhill
performance to efficient climbing. With Rocker Independent Suspension we found a healthy balance
between the down and the up, while also designing a suspension platform that was as compact and
low-slung on the frame as possible for maximum standover, stiffness and maneuverability. A consistent leverage rate
curve that perfectly matches currently available air shocks creates a stable pedaling platform, while giving the rider a
predictable feel throughout the travel.

Rampage runs ever (Graham Agassiz).
RIDE FEEL BEFORE AXLE PATH
It’s one of many factors that must be balanced to make
a World Cup-level bike. If you only listen to the Internet,
however, you would find it nearly impossible to make it
down a rocky trail without a perfectly rearward axle path.
Geometry—making the bike maneuverable, and leverage
rate curve—making the bike predictable and easily tunable,
are more important than selling the soul of the bike for a
“perfect” axle path. (What is perfect anyway?) A bike that
is maneuverable uses its travel prudently and is intuitively
responsive to rider input, allowing the rider to skim over
technical terrain faster than plowing through.

Featured on the recreational-oriented Precept line of Trail bikes, and the new Precept 200 DH bike,
Kona’s Swinger configuration allows us to smartly increase standover and optimize the leverage rate for

same advantages and performance features as our other designs, but at a more affordable price.

We enjoy the new-school trails—smooth, bermed with
jumps—and have learned a lot about being light of foot.
We’ve taken those lessons back to our home turf and found
new lines with this evolved approach to geometry and
suspension design. We do not want to create bikes that ride
like couches. We think that’s boring, slow and not fun. We
decided to make a unique DH bike—one that you ride, not one
that rides you.
MORE PROGRESSIVE LEVERAGE
RATE CURVE
Compared to the original Operator, we’ve made the leverage
rate curve more progressive at the beginning of the stroke.
We did this for several reasons: it keeps the bike higher
in the travel by making the initial travel stiffer in
compression, as well as providing faster initial
rebound. It also matches the initial leverage rate
curve of currently available forks so front and
rear suspension is more in synch. The curve is
more progressive at the beginning of the stroke,
and consistently so through the travel, providing
the rider with a predictable and easily tuned bike.
It is also easier on the rear damper as there are no
sudden spikes in force on the shock caused by rapid
changes in the leverage rate curve.

Why Carbon? Because we can make the frame stronger
and lighter. We’ve taken a different approach, avoiding
fashionably stylized tube shapes and focusing on round
tubes, which are still the best performers in terms of
overall strength, stiffness and dent resistance.
REAR-TRIANGLE STIFFNESS: Three times stiffer
than the previous Operator, the 6061 Aluminum Butted
rear triangle features dual pinch bolts on the rear axle to
prevent it from twisting in the frame and a Carbon Bridged
Rocker for the lightest, stiffest rocker possible.
12X157MM REAR O.L.D. REAR AXLE: Same
advantages as 12x142mm—easy rear-wheel placement,
lateral stiffness.
“As an industry we tend to pile gimmicks
on to DH bikes in order to assure the
customer that this is the bike that will
make them faster. With the Carbon
Operator we kept it as straight forward
as possible: solid chassis, good geometry
and dialed leverage rate curve. These are
the key components of a fun bike and day
after day a fun bike is a fast one.”
20
OVERSIZED PIVOTS & BEARINGS: Large
bearings are used to reduce wear from side loading and
pressure washers. We use two standard industrial-sized
bearings on the frame that are inexpensive and easily
sourced worldwide. The outer race bearing seat has been
machined to allow for easy removal of the bearing by
pushing only on the outer race without specialized bearing
tools. All bearings are held in the frame, this prevents
off-axis loading when pivots are torqued. Lightweight large
outer dimensions thru-axles feature large 12-point hex tool
interface to prevent tool interface wear. All Process and
Operator bikes have laser etched assembly info on main
pivots for ease of maintenance.

ONE PLATFORM - 5 MODELS
Different riders have different needs. Riders all over the
world struggle to define what Trail, All Mountain or Enduro
riding is. When it came to designing the ultimate platform
of bikes for technical off-road riding, we saw the need to
develop a versatile product line to fit the needs of every
definition. Our prime design directive was to find the best
possible balance of geometry, travel and wheel size. As a
result, we came up with some very specific travel numbers
that complement the design, wheel size and intended use
of specific models.

GEOMETRY –
CHALLENGING TRADITION
PROCESS 153
Trail and Enduro bikes currently on the market are still
subject to the traditional fit and sizing mountain bikes
took from road-bike sizing, where seat tube length defined
the size, and stem lengths increased with the frame size.
This doesn’t make sense given what today’s riders are
trying to do on their Enduro bikes: pedal them like XC bikes
and descend them like DH bikes. So we rethought the
equation with a holistic approach: stem-length, reach, top
tube length, chainstay length, front center, and wheelbase,
all relevant to the fit, form and function of the modern
mountain bike.

giving the rider a predictable feel throughout the travel.

SHORT CHAINSTAYS: Improves the handling
of the bike at slow speeds, cornering in all situations,
jump-ability and overall bike stiffness.
STEM LENGTH: Critical to how the bike steers:
short stems provide stiff and quick handling. This is
especially important when the head tube angle gets
slacker. Additionally, taller riders should not be penalized
with slower steering and flexible 90mm stems. In our
opinion, long stems have no place on serious trail bikes.
SEAT TUBE: With the adoption of dropper posts,
the seat tube itself no longer needs to define the size of
the bike, allowing us to lower our top tubes to the absolute
minimum on all sizes. And we do mean all sizes: the XL has
the same minimal standover as the small.
LONGER TOP TUBES: In high-speed
situations, a perceived downside of short chainstays is
that wheelbase is reduced and stability is negatively
affected. We’ve countered this effect by lengthening the
top tube, increasing the overall wheelbase. The result
is stability at speed without compromising low-speed
handling.
FRAME DETAILS –
A STANDARDIZED APPROACH
With the Process platform, we made a distinct effort
to have all of the bikes share many of the same frame
details. This helps both the consumer and dealer on many
levels, most notably ease of maintenance, standardized
replacement parts, and a succinct story when it comes
to selling the bicycles. For the consumer, it allows them
to easily determine which model is right for them as
all frame, geometry, suspension and design features
represent a progression. The decision on which bike to
select is then based on their own style of riding and the
terrain their most often exposed to.
SLACK HEAD ANGLE: Keeps the bike
stable at speed and allows the bike to roll out of steep
terrain confidently. One of the downsides of slack head
angles is that it makes the bike handle more slowly, more
awkwardly and less responsively at reduced speeds, which
is exacerbated by wide bars. Short stems counteract this
effect of slack head angle allowing for quick handling of
the bike at slow speeds.

PROCESS 111
Last year we redefined what a 29-inch-wheel mountain bike was
capable of. Combining short (430mm) chainstays and a low BB,
omitting the front derailleur and incorporating big standover, a short
stem and a roomy rider cockpit, we turned the idea of a 29-inch-wheel
bike up on its head, laying waste the land of trail in a flood of Big Fun.
Highlighted by a surprisingly deep 111mm of rear Rocker Independent
Suspension—whose progressive leverage rate curve means plush on
the down and smooth on the up—the exceedingly capable 10-42t X1
drivetrain and a new Pike 120mm fork, the Process 111 returns to
shock and awe.

At Kona we’ve been making gravity bikes since the beginning
of gravity bikes. We’ve always had a passion for making fast,
competent rides, and we also create bikes that enable the
rider to take it to the next level. With the launch of our carbon
Operator series, we’ve hit the sweet spot. Capable of wowing
the crowd at the Red Bull Rampage, to contesting the podium
at World Cup DH events, to the great opportunities of gravity
riding in between, the Operator returns as one of the lightest,
most playful DH bikes on the market today. For those especially
budget conscience but looking to jump into the downhill game,
we offer the all-new Precept 200, our first Swinger Independent
Suspension downhill bike, specifically designed for those
who don’t want to sacrifice performance but are looking for
something somewhat subtler on the pocket book.

SPECIFICATIONS
The Process 167 is the ultimate in DH/freeride/hardcore enduro, with the pedaling
performance to get you to the top. A bike that Kona Team rider Graham Agassiz
spins and flips with ease will also excel in the burliest of enduro races should
you want to race it. As you can see from our product line, we believe in geometry
before wheel-size hype; this bike is no different. The Entourage ripped because of
its stellar combination of ultra-short chainstays (415mm), low BB (2mm drop),
responsive 170mm travel and slack head angle (65). To fit 27.5-inch wheels in this
frame we would have had to lengthen the chainstay, raised the bottom bracket,
or reduced the travel. With proven geometry on the ultra plush, super stiff and
reliable Process platform, rest assured the new 167 is going to be a trail scream.
If you wanted to call this bike the new Stinky, we’d be ok with that.

MTB: RACE LIGHT
Super fast and really fun: that’s how we like to describe our 2015 lineup
of Race Light XC bikes. Since cross-country legend Joe Murray designed
some of our first bikes back in 1988, we’ve always been focused on
creating incredibly light, ridiculously fast mountain bikes. But what
differentiates us from the competition is our want to ensure our bikes
deliver equally on the smile quotient. From our technically capable Hei
Hei series of dual-suspension trail igniters to the legendary ride of the
Kahuna hardtails, no one puts more fun into going fast than Kona.

We’ve been making 29-inch-wheel hardtails for a very long time.
You could say we’ve been doing it from the outset, long before
most companies embraced the beauty of the big wheel. From our
testing center in Bellingham, Washington, where wet roots and
perennial mud make for long, challenging, and highly rewarding
rides, the simplicity of 29-inch-wheel hardtails has always made
sense. No surprise then, we’ve spent the better part of a decade
making sure they runSPECIFICATIONS
perfectly.

PRECEPT
The genre-defining Precept takes the rollability, traction and quick
handling of 27.5-inch wheels and 120mm of Kona’s Swinger
Independent Suspension to create an incredibly efficient climber and a
faster, more stable, descender. Thanks to an amazing price, it’s a bike
that knows no bounds. Outfitted with a Shimano drivetrain highlighted
by a Deore Shadow rear derailleur, 130mm RockShox fork and refined
trail geometry with excellent standover, the Precept is everything a great
mountain bike should be: solid, smooth and full of smiles.

CINDER CONE
Formidable entities don’t just happen. They take time. Dedication.
Commitment. We’ve been making Kona Cinder Cones for 28 years, and
while the bike has changed remarkably over the years, one constant
remains—it always serves the goods. For 2015, one the most popular
models in our history continues the legacy with a light, sweet handling
Scandium 69 frameset, 27.5-inch wheels and smartly selected
components. Quite simply, a mountain bike to live by.

FIRE MOUNTAIN
BLAST
As one of the most popular mountain bikes ever, the iconic Blast
explodes again. One of our longest-running models continues to rock
on with better rolling and obstacle-annihilating 27.5-inch wheels;
the Blast is the perfect ride for cyclists venturing ever further into the
flaming-hot radness of singletrack. Because, as you probably know by
now, trails are the best—a real blast you could say.

CYCLOCROSS
Here at Kona, we love cyclocross. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a leg-shaving
skin suiter or a wool-ensconced commuter, we make a ‘cross bike to fit your
demands. From the top down we incorporate race-inspired geometry with neatly
tucked-away amenities like fender mounts, rack, and water bottle mounts. In
short, our CX bikes are designed with ulterior motives in mind. The course tape is
just a reference and we’re not afraid to encourage you to color outside the lines.
Go out and give ‘er! Just be back in time for dinner and wash your hands.

ROAD: CLASSIC
These are the originals. Using road’s heritage in steel, and with geometry more
attune to versatility, confidence, style and comfort, our Road Classic platform
is all about blending the old with the new, creating bikes designed to stand the
test of time and define an era.
HONKY TONK
We have a lot of commuters who work at Kona, hardcore employees
who brave the elements from summer and fall straight through winter
and then spring. They endure everything from snow to incessant rain,
long distances, dark hours and heavy loads. We built the Honky Tonk
specifically for them. The result is a well-thought-out Reynolds 520
road frame that’s comfortable, light and smooth, with components
and features specific to cycling in the rain, like long-reach calipers for
excellent big-tire and fender clearance.

HONKY TONK
“The ideal steel commuter
that might encourage your
inner explorer to come out.”
CYCLING PLUS (UK)
FREERANG
FREERANGE
These are the bikes made to go everywhere, imbued with the ability to turn
you into an everywhere riding animal. From the deep snows of wintery climes
to the warm sand of beachy ones to the big wild world of singletrack, gravel
fire roads and bumpy pavement in between, in our ever-growing Freerange
platform you’ll find exceedingly detail-oriented and well-designed bikes able
to do it all. Ride free, good cycling person. Ride free.

WO
We’ve seen them cruise glaciers and roll through sand dunes on the
way to surf breaks, even dropping in on the odd cross-country race.
Yes, the Wo has secured its spot in the Fat-bike world as an amazing
value and solid performer. Introduced last year, the 2015 Kona fat bike
gets an updated frame design featuring sliding dropouts and 190 OLD
rear spacing. The result is a bike that can clear wide rolling five-inch
tires. Don’t hold back. Make the world go “Wo!”

DEW PLUS
For those looking to dash some performance into their daily commute,
the Dew Plus is about as ideal as separated bike lanes with donut
shops every other block. The Dew Plus uses a butted aluminum
frame with an internal headset and matching fork to improve
steering precision and features new dropouts to ease fender and rack
installation woes. Throw in clearance for up to a 40c tire and fenders
and you have the makings of a super commuter for the budget-minded
buyer. Coming in two colors to a bike shop near you!
