Dear business partner
For many years we, at The Association of Danish Window Manufacturers in cooperation with The Danish Technological Institute, have had
a strong focus on ensuring prime quality windows and doors for our
customers. One of the ways of achieving this has been a certification
scheme which our many members must join. The scheme stipulates a
wide array of requirements to the individual company and its products
and, not least, that they must be open to independent inspections. This
is the consultants’ as well as the end-users’ guarantee that they buy a
highquality product.
It goes without saying that also in future, different manufacturers will offer different
windows and doors. Fortunately so – because multiplicity adds to consumers’ choises concerning material, design, appearance, and price of course. But no matter the
customer’s choice, the certification scheme will guarantee compliance with a number of
quality requirements, regulatory requirements, and that there is “money in the bank” for
compensation, if worst case should arise.
Actually, there is nothing new in this – but what is new is that we are introducing a
completely new name and a new logo complying with the quality standard “Technical
Requirements for DVV” and not that of the certification body. This will make everything
easier and more transparent. With this booklet we want our business partners to be
the first to be let in on these changes, so they are uptodate when the new logo and the
term Dansk Vindues Verifikation begin to appear in the near future.

Why a new label?
For many years, membership of The Association of Danish Window Manufacturers has been
subject to the company being affiliated to DVC Produktcertificering. This still applies. What is new is
that the scheme changes its name and logo. From now on the name is Dansk Vindues Verifikation
– DVV – and a new and highly eye-catching logo is introduced.
The certification body DVC Produktcertificering – is connected with The Danish Technological
Institute which, so far, has had an exclusive right of certifying companies. This has, among other
things, meant that the logo used would also be used for other products under other certification
schemes administered by The Danish Technological Institute. We have found that this is not
convenient. We want a clear and distinct labelling exclusively used for windows and external doors.
For this reason, a new name and a new logo will be introduced for certified windows and external
doors under the quality standard “Technical Requirements for DVV”. It also means that from now on
the industry will be less restricted in its choice of certification provider, and that the name and logo
will remain unchanged if we decide on a new business partner.
It is, however, crucial to emphasize that whoever The Association of Danish Window Manufacturers
in future decides on to carry out the certification of companies and their windows and external
doors, then it will be an impartial and independent body whose work is not controlled by the
industry itself!

The new label
The purpose of the DVV scheme is to ensure the end-users a quality product of guaranteed long durability and in compliance with all regulatory requirements. Just like
today.
DVV is the name and label to be used in future by those carrying out the certification
in practice. The actual certification will be monitored by the Danish Enterprise and
Construction Authority. This scheme is called Danish Accreditation (The Danish
Accreditation and Metrology Fund = DANAK). Once this accreditation has been granted
the provider is entitled to carry out the required impartial inspections at affiliated
companies and subsequently certify or verify that these meet the requirements formulated in the “Technical Requirements for DVV”.
The “Technical Requirements for DVV” is a comprehensive and detailed quality
catalogue worked out by experts from The Association of Danish Window Manufacturers and The Danish Technological Institute.
If the certified doors and windows meet the requirements, they can be labelled with the
new DVV logo.
The logo with a tracking code will typically be affixed to the window rebate and be
clearly visible when the window or door is opened.

Technical Requirements for DVV
The technical requirements - which certified windows and doors must comply with – are
collected in a comprehensive quality program called “Technical Requirements for DVV”.
These requirements can be read in full and downloaded on The Association of Danish
Window Manufacturers’ homepage www.vinduesindustrien.dk
The technical requirements for DVV cover all types of windows and doors whether they
be manufactured in timber, PVCu, aluminium, or FRP (Fibre reinforced polymer), or in
combinations of these.
The technical requirements set out a number of minimum requirements including
among other things:
• Management and quality control
• Product construction and design
• Quality of materials and component parts
• Execution and finish of the work
• Testing of specific properties
Inspection visits are typically paid once or twice a year. All members of The Association
of Danish Window Manufacturers must be affiliated to the scheme, but the scheme is
open to non-members as well.
The Association of Danish Window Manufacturers comprises approx. 65 companies
and with that more than 90 % of all manufacturers of windows and doors in Denmark.

Windows and Doors with a Warranty
The certification scheme provides for checks of the company’s quality control and that
finished units comply with requirements to construction, performance, materials,
surfaces etc. Therefore, it offers maximum security that you have bought a high-quality
product.
It does not guarantee, however, that faults and defects cannot occur. Therefore, all
DVV marked windows and external doors are covered by a warranty scheme giving all
private consumers five years’ total warranty. If faults and defects on windows and
external doors are discovered within this five-year period, the damage will be made
good without charge or new units will be supplied.
So, this is an additional security when buying DVV marked windows and doors.
The DVV warranty scheme has insurance coverage which means that also in case of a
company bankruptcy, it will cover faults and defects for consumers.
