The current politics of the Portuguese Government show a strong will to introduce in 2007 a fiscal and legal environment favourable to the Business Angels operations, which will have positive implications on the financing of early stage projects. The organization of such a congress could have an important influence in the number of active business angels in Portugal and the consecutive Portugal is also known for it’s warm reception and always have a good impact on international delegates providing everyone with a relaxing days out of the office. For those intending to extend their stay, Portugal offers the best programs, including sports such as golf or trecking, but also many museums and monuments dating from the middle age or even roman empire. Government authorities are also getting more involved in the issue, approving investment programs (FINICIA) that depend on business angel investment and changing taxation to attract more investors to this start-up support activity. The recent creation of a regional business angel network is also a good sign and recognizes the lack of players in this capital financing stage. This partnership gathered Francisco Banha determination in supporting Portuguese entrepreneurs and Chausson’s expertise in catalysing projects with venture capital. In this 6 years of activity, Gesventure has largely contributed to the awareness of entrepreneurship in Portugal, in result of the annual events realized, books and articles publishing and conference participation. As a result for all these efforts, Gesventure as raised 14,4 million euros to 8 projects in 2005.
