Do Your Best By Judith Costa Page 3 The Chapter 11 filing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court on Friday came after a judge ordered East Coast Foods Inc. to pay roughly $1.6 million to Daniel Beasley of Compton and the remainder to his attorneys. East Coast Foods estimates that it owes creditors between $10 million and $50 million, but has assets amounting to less than $50,000. The action doesn’t necessarily mean that any of the seven eateries will be closing, according to Glen Mertens, an attorney for the Rostam Law firm, which is representing East Coast. By Judith Costa In every situation you are in life always do your best. You don’t need to be perfect or to avoid taking action because you are afraid of making a mistake, you need to do your best, no more and no less. If you Love yourself, you will notice that you cannot judge yourself when you do your best, because what you did was the maximum you could do in a certain moment in time and in the circumstances you were living. You need to respect yourself for it. Don’t ask yourself for more than you can do. Enjoy your life and don’t go against yourself by ending-up exhausted or depleted. Take care of your body, mind and spirit. Fall in Love with your best self. Don’t do less than you can, because by doing this you will be also going against yourself, because your actions will create guilt, regret, and shame towards yourself. You are in Earth to live your life happily and to Love. Live in the now and take action. Don’t avoid life. Don’t be afraid of failing. Be yourself and live your life; the life you want and desire. Don’t allow yourself to sabotage your opportunities. You are capable of doing what you want, but you need to rely on yourself. You are supported every step of the way and, if you surrender, you will be guided. Make a conscious effort to create a life with purpose and fulfillment. This is part of doing your best. Live your best possible life, instead of living a life that doesn’t satisfy you. Make choices that will demonstrate the Love that you have for yourself and your life, instead of going through life on autopilot and making yourself unhappy. Choose to do your best because it makes you happy, not because you “have to”. You are always learning and improving. You need to accept yourself the way you are and, if you feel the need to change, just do it. Doing your best is part of this process of self-acceptance, growth, and honesty with yourself. Live without regrets, live in the present moment, and enjoy what life is offering you. Appreciate your blessings and be grateful for them. She was killed when a bomb tore through the departures area of Brussels airport on Tuesday, her family confirmed. A split-second decision saved her husband and 4-year-old twin daughters Maureen and Alondra from share her fate. Her Belgian husband, Christophe Delcambe, had taken the girls out of the check-in line to play for a moment when a loud explosion ripped through the concourse. One daughter was struck in the arm by shrapnel and is being treated in a local hospital. Her brother, Fernando Tapia, told The Associated Press his sister was preparing to catch a flight to New York to meet up with two sisters who live in the United States. Tapia and her husband lived in the town of Tubize, south of Brussels, and her brother said she will likely be buried in her adopted homeland. Gigi Adam said her 79-year-old father Andre Adam died trying to protect his wife during the attack on Brussels airport. Adam was a retired Belgian diplo- mat who had served as his country’s ambassador to Cuba, the United States, the United Nations and other countries. “His death has wounded us all forever,” Gigi Adam wrote on Facebook. “All his life he had worked towards the peaceful resolution of conflict in the world.” She described her late father as “a cultured and cheerful man” who had met his future wife — “the love of his life” — on his posting to Cuba in the early 1960s. She said on Facebook that her mother had been hospitalized after the attack. Gigi Adam said her parents had retired to southwest France in recent years. “He was a loving father and an adored grandfather,” she said, asking for his family members to be given privacy. “We need to rest.” On Sunday, investigators launched 13 anti-terror raids in the Belgium capital and two other cities in the government’s attempt to contain criticism of its handling of the attacks. Four people were taken into custody. In central Brussels, riot police used water cannon when scuffles broke out in front of the Bourse, which has become a symbolic rallying point for people to pay their respects to those who died in Tuesday’s suicide bombings. Black clad men carrying an anti-Islamic State group banner with an expletive on it held an agitated rally, but were pushed back by riot police. The council voted 14-0 in favor of a resolution supporting AB 2663, authored by Assemblyman Jim Cooper, D-Elk Grove, which is seeking to boost funding by $73.6 million and sets future increases according to the California Consumer Price Index, though only if it does not cause a reduction in funding. Deivis Ventura is still just a candidate for the Dominican Republic’s Chamber of Deputies, but he feels like he’s already scored a victory. The 42-year-old former private school teacher, the first openly gay person to run for his country’s Congress, is delighted his campaign has not encountered overt hostility as it likely would have in the past. Advocates for the programs warned today that without extra funding, as many as 50,000 LAUSD students could be shut out of after-school services in the next year. The president of LA’s BEST, which provides after-school programming for about 25,000 LAUSD students, described the current funding level as “an existential threat.” “Despite cuts and raising as much private funds as possible, we are facing a deficit of more than $1 million this school year and, without a state increase, three times that amount next year. It’s simply unsustainable,” Eric Gurna said. Councilman David Ryu, who authored the resolution, called for the state Legislature to pass the bill and for Gov. Jerry Brown to sign it during a rally outside City Hall today after the council’s vote. After-school programs have been strapped for funding in recent years, which has hurt their ability to “attract and retain quality staff,” Ryu said. This has in turn “resulted in reduced staffing hours, reduced professional development, the abandonment of specialized instruction and fewer spaces for children.” Councilwoman Nury Martinez, Councilman Bob Blumenfield, LAUSD board member George McKenna and other local elected officials joined after-school program providers at today’s City Hall rally. The funding for the after-school programs was set up through the approval by voters in 2002 of Proposition 49. The After School Education and Safety Program began in 2006 and currently offers services to 400,000 students around the state, “It’s an important moment for our country,” Ventura said one recent afternoon during a break from camtypically at schools where 80 perpaigning with a transgender friend. cent of the students are eligible for “The fact that we have openly LGBT free or reduce-cost meals. candidates in an important political According to Cooper’s bill, afterparty speaks of change.” school program operating costs and the minimum wage have increased Another openly gay man, Yimbert since 2006, when the funding startTelemin, is running in the May eleced, but the daily rate per participant tion for city council in La Romana, an has remained at $7.50. Sailor samples fuel serving aboard USS Roosevelt (DDG 80) Profile of Home Buyers (Part 1 of 2) By Ruth A. Hayles, REALTOR Buying a primary residence for home buyers is a major financial decision but also an emotional decision that involves many lifestyle factors. For most home buyers, the purchase of a primary residence is one of the largest financial transactions they will make. Buyers purchase a home not only for the desire to own a home of their own, but also because of changes in jobs, family situations, and the need for a smaller or larger living area. Elberg Hollywood legend ‘Charo’ dishes about guest-starring in ‘Jane the Virgin’ Charo plays a friend of the character Rogelio (played by Jaime Camil), a self-absorbed actor who stars in a telenovela. The story line, published reports say, is that Rogelio brags to an intern about his long-time friendship with the famous Charo, and embellishes his tale by making the relationship with the star seem more romantic than it really was. After the story makes the tabloids, Charo appears, with no intention of letting Rogelio get away with his lie. In an interview with Fox News Latino, Charo said she was thrilled to be on “Jane the Virgin,” a show she admires. She not only displays her acting chops on the episode, but also her musical talent when she plays the guitar. “’Jane the Virgin’ is one of the most original shows that’s been presented in the United States,” Charo said. “The secret is not only that the show itself is charming, but the cast – Gina Rodriguez, Jaime, the other actors – is so talented, so extraordinary.” Charo, whose guest appearance on An annual survey was conducted by the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® of recent home buyers and sellers helps to gain insight into detailed information about their unique experience with this transaction. The information provides understanding, from the consumer level, of the trends that are transpiring. The actress and political activist wrote a scathing open letter to the Mexican-American labor activist late last week in response to Huerta’s op-ed in Medium that slammed Bernie Sanders’ record on immigration. Huerta is a strong supporter of Hillary Clinton. A 2002 Birmingham High School graduate and San Fernando Valley, California native is serving in the U.S. Navy with Naval Beach Group TWO (NBG 2). Petty Officer 2nd Class Jaime Luna Barrios is a boatswain’s mate with the beach group operating out of Virginia Beach, Virginia. A Navy boatswain’s mate is responsible for a variety of duties that assist the ship and crew in completing the mission. “My job allows me to interact with a variety of people at the command,” said Luna Barrios. “I get to build friendships that last a lifetime.” Commissioned in 1948, NBG 2 is designed to organize, man, train and equip forces to execute, combat support, and combat service support missions. NBG 2 is made of four commands, Assault Craft Unit TWO (ACU 2), Assault Craft Unit FOUR (ACU 4), Amphibious Construction Battalion TWO (PHIBCB 2), and Beach Master Unit TWO (BMU 2); who have their own individual missions that assist to ensure the overall mission of NBG 2 is complete. Luna Barrios serves with BMU2 who provide Naval Beach Party Teams (BPTs) for deployment in conjunction with Expeditionary Forces in order to provide beach and surf zone salvage and to facilitate the landing and movement over the beach of troops, equipment, supplies, and the evacuation of casualties, prisonersof-war, and non-combatants. “The atmosphere at this command is very family oriented,” said Luna Barrios. “There is a great camaraderie here.” Approximately 30 officers and 300 enlisted men and women make up the beach group. Their jobs are highly specialized and keep each part of the command running smoothly. The jobs range from operating boats to maintaining engines and handling weaponry. “The Sailors here never cease to impress me with the effort they put into their daily work,” said Capt. Jeffrey Hayhurst, commodore commander of NBG 2. “Their dedication and hard work make me proud to be in command of Naval Beach Group Two.” “Dolores, I am surprised, dismayed, and concerned that you would do your legacy such a disservice by becoming an instrument of the establishment, rather than joining this movement to create a better America like you once inspired us to do,” Dawson, a Sanders supporter, wrote in the Huffington Post. WILSON Case No. BP172443 To all heirs, beneficiaries, creditors, contingent creditors, and persons who may otherwise be interested in the will or estate, or both, of JAMES D. WILSON A PETITION FOR PROBATE has been filed by Mary A. Mosley in the Superior Court of California, County of LOS ANGELES. THE PETITION FOR PROBATE requests that Mary A. Mosley be appointed as personal representative to administer the estate of the decedent. THE PETITION requests authority to administer the estate under the Independent Administration of Estates Act. (This authority will allow the personal representative to take many actions without obtaining court approval. Before taking certain very important actions, however, the personal representative will be required to give notice to interested persons unless they have waived notice or consented to the proposed action.) The independent administration authority will be granted unless an interested person files an objection to the petition and shows good cause why the court should not grant the authority. A HEARING on the petition will be held on May 9, 2016 at 8:30 AM in Dept. No. 99 located at 111 N. Hill St., Los Angeles, CA 90012. IF YOU OBJECT to the granting of the petition, you should appear at the hearing and state your objections or file written objections with the court before the hearing. Your appearance may be in person or by your attorney. IF YOU ARE A CREDITOR or a contingent creditor of the decedent, you must file your claim with the court and mail a copy to the personal representative appointed by the court within the later of either (1) four months from the date of first issuance of letters to a general personal representative, as defined in section 58(b) of the California Probate Code, or (2) 60 days from the date of mailing or personal delivery to you of a notice under section 9052 of the California Probate Code. Other California statutes and legal authority may affect your rights as a creditor. You may want to consult with an attorney knowledgeable in California law. YOU MAY EXAMINE the file kept by the court. If you are a person interested in the estate, you may file with the court a Request for Special Notice (form DE-154) of the filing of an inventory and appraisal of estate assets or of any petition or account as provided in Probate Code section 1250. A Request for Special Notice form is available from the court clerk. You should also be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder’s office or a title insurance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust on the property. NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER: The sale date shown on this notice of sale may be postponed one or more times by the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code.
