Spirals are symbolic of eternal life in many cultures. The Celtic knot is one of the
oldest symbols of this kind. Monks used them to decorate sanctuaries and tombs.

Cregeen’s Irish Pub
Tracing its history back to Roman occupation,
pubs (or public houses), were British establishments
licensed to serve alcohol. Food or “pub grub” did not
become popular until the late 20th century.
Cregeen’s serves many of these dishes with a slant
toward the American palate. In Ireland, a pub is often
a focal point of the community where folks go to
enjoy “Craic”. (pronounced crack, the Gaelic word
for communal fun)

The Book of Kells was
designed as an altar book and is
considered a national treasure in
Ireland.
It
is
an
ornately
illuminated manuscript of the
Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke,
and John. Written on calfskin,
near 800 A.D. by monks, it still
survives today in the archives of
Trinity College in Dublin. The
artwork and calligraphy contained within, served as
the inspiration for the Cregeen’s logo.
The swan
is a symbol of
beauty
&
femininity, and has spiritual meaning. Swan maiden
stories are often told in Celtic fairy tales. In an Irish
legend, Fionnuala, the daughter of Lir, was
transformed into a swan and condemned to wander
over the lakes and rivers until Christianity came to
Ireland.
