Whisper Canyon
We are delighted that you have chosen to hold your retreat at Mount Hermon’s Whisper Canyon site.
Located in the beautiful California central coast area, approximately 12 miles from the beautiful Lake
San Antonio, Whisper Canyon, formerly known as Dry Bones Christian Faith Center, was given to
Mount Hermon in 2004. This facility can comfortably accommodate 80–120 guests depending on the
season.
There are many interesting hiking trails where you can observe bald eagles (in winter), turkeys, deer,
and quail.
It is our desire that you will have a remarkable and life changing experience with your church or group
while at our facility. We look forward to assisting you in any way possible to help this happen.
This planning guide is designed to assist you in organizing a successful retreat. Please make sure to
review each section carefully as it will help you in the planning process. If at anytime questions arise,
and you cannot find the answer in the planning guide, please feel free to call me.
Mount Hermon’s staff looks forward to ministering along side of you.

retreat is successful. The Host will be accessible in case of emergency 10 p.m. – 8 a.m. Call (805) 4729201.
Telephone
In case of emergency, a telephone is located at the Shop. For medical emergencies, please call 911 first,
then contact the camp host at the number above. Verizon Cellular service is strong. Other services are
intermittent or nonexistent.
Lost & Found
Please bring any items that you believe may have been misplaced to the Whisper Canyon Host. Articles
left behind will be kept on site for 30 days. Please contact the host to retrieve any items left following a
retreat.
Pets
For the safety of our staff and guests, dogs and other pets are not permitted on site. However, Seeing Eye
and service dogs on a leash and under immediate control of the owner are accepted.
Security
Whisper Canyon is a safe environment. However, in a fallen world it is still important to pay careful
attention to one’s belongings. Mount Hermon is not responsible for any lost or stolen articles.
Fire
Whisper Canyon has a very high fire danger during the dry season. Smoking is not encouraged.
However, if necessary, please alert the Host, who will provide an ash can and instructions as to an
appropriate place for smoking. Wood fires are allowed in designated fire pits when the CAL Fire fire
risk is moderate or less. Charcoal and propane fires only during greater risk. Fireworks, open fires and
burning candles are strictly prohibited.
Firearms
Should you or one of your guests believe that the words “camp” and “gun” go hand-in-hand, this is just a
friendly reminder that this is not true at Mount Hermon facilities, including Whisper Canyon. Firearms
are prohibited.
Conservation
Water remains a precious commodity. Please help us conserve water by reporting dripping faucets, toilets,
etc. Energy is also a precious commodity. Please turn off the lights when a room is not in use. Heat may
also be conserved with your help. When leaving a room during the winter months please close any doors
and windows that may have been opened. Please do not pick wildflowers or remove any natural features of
the property including fossils of animals. Be aware that poison oak, rattlesnakes, scorpions, mountain lions
and tarantula’s are native to the area.

Medical Services
Basic first-aid supplies (i.e. bandages, pain relievers, etc.) will be available to your group. However, for
needs greater than the basics, one will have to visit a local hospital or urgent care facility as Whisper
Canyon does not have a designated health supervisor on grounds. At the Dining Pole Barn, you will find
a list of local emergency facilities along with driving directions & contact phone numbers. In the case of
a life threatening emergency, please call 911 and then notify the Host that you have done so. Help is 2050 minutes away. There is an AED located in the Chapel.
Considerations for Disabled Guests
Whisper Canyon is a rustic facility set in a natural environment with uneven/unpaved terrain and may
not have suitable accommodations for some guests with disabilities. If you are bringing someone with a
disability, please contact the Host prior to arrival.
Quiet Hours and Neighbors
Due to the ease by which sound travels in the country side, we ask all groups to observe quiet hours
from 10pm to 7am. No amplified music outside or events which could disturb our neighbors please.

General Information
Recreation
Whisper Canyon has a spacious recreation area that may be used for various types of games. Your
younger guests may like to take advantage of the playground. There are also numerous hiking trails
ranging from ½ mile to 3 miles. Equipment for volleyball, basketball, softball, horseshoes, ping-pong,
frisbees, and field games is provided in our recreation shed. Lake San Antonio offers a huge opportunity
as well. (See local attractions section.)
Zip Swing
Enjoy a 200ft swing down a cable. This exciting playground feature is available by arrangement with
your host. Adult supervision is required. People who are at least 6 years old and under 275 pounds can
enjoy this feature. See the contract addendum for additional details on operation, safety, and risks.
Recycling and Trash
Groups are encouraged to use our plates and silverware to reduce the amount of un-recyclable trash
we generate. Paper and foam products also tend to blow away and liter the camp. Aluminum cans and
plastic water bottles can be recycled. Please use the containers provided. Trash must be covered and
food put away each night to prevent animals from becoming a nuisance. Call the Host if you need to
empty your trash.
RV Hook ups
Please see the Host for procedures. Do not dump grey water or solids. We do not have a dump station at this
time. An $100 clean up fee will be assessed to any group illegally dumping waste water on the grounds.
RV Sizes
Due to the sharp curves on Bryson Hesperia and Smith Road, RV’s over 35’ are not recommended or
viable options.
