Dear Friends:
There is an epidemic out there called Autism, effecting one in every 88 Children
(one in every 54 boys) and we're here to do what we can to stop it.
To date, T Off 4 Autism has raised over $600,000 with your help in our effort to reach these goals:
• Find a cure.
• Support local families who have family members with Autism.
• Build and support a future Group Home for people with Autism.
To these ends we have donated the money raised at our events to several organizations:
Autism Speaks is the largest Autism Awareness Organization we support.
Their efforts are centered on:
• Research to find a cure.
• Awareness of the extent that this condition is permeating our society.
• Advocating for government intervention to help families cope with the financial burden of Autism.
NSASA is the Long Island chapter of a nationwide organization known as The Autism Society of
America and supports over 1400 families on Long Island.
• NSASA is dedicated to helping children and families affected by Autism lead better fuller lives in
the local community.
• NSASA sponsors a wide assortment of events, all designed to get these families out and enjoying
life without the stress of doing these activities alone.
• NSASA sponsors education and advocacy conferences to educate professionals and families in
the Autism community.
The Cody Center is located in a local all-encompassing, multidisciplinary Center in Stony Brook
University that treats Autism from diagnosis to elder care, from education and research to clinical
services and outreach. The Cody Center shares the T Off 4 Autism goal of developing a home for
adult people who have grown up with Autism and need a safe haven to live.
The Mental Health Association of Nassau County is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving mental health through advocacy, education, program development, and the delivery of direct
services. MHANC currently operates two residential group homes in Nassau County for both
children and adults with Autism.

Alex Keller
This year’s honoree Alex Keller is a local success story. He took his father’s construction company and built it into one of the premier construction companies
in our area. He has worked closely with the ACS Head-Start Program in all five
boroughs, built schools, homes, restored churches, and landmarks, as well as
being the go to guy for renovations for local celebrities. In addition Alex now
owns an Italian Restaurant and Chophouse in Manhattan called Forty 2 West
that has earned rave reviews.
Alex’s integrity, knowledge, work ethic, and trustworthiness have paved the
road for his business and personal success. His philanthropic spirit has led Alex
to offer his energy and enthusiasm to help us with our mission. Alex has recognized the epidemic that Autism has become and acknowledges that more
must be done to find a cause for this disorder. Alex is dedicated to our cause
and there is no better way to honor him then to join us and support the work
that we do.

What is Autism?
Autism is a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first
three years of life and is the result of a neurological disorder that affects the normal
functioning of the brain.
Autism now affects one out of every 88 children (1 in 54 boys) diagnosed in the United
States. Autism is that fastest growing serious developmental disability in the United
States. Every 15 minutes a child is diagnosed with Autism. The treatment of Autism
now costs the nation 137 billion per year. The diagnosis of Autism has increased by the
rate of 100% in the last 5 years. Autism currently receives less than 5% of the research
funding of many less prevalent childhood diseases.
Our Goals
T Off 4 Autism has several goals:
1. To find a cause and a cure for Autism with the help of Autism Speaks
and The Cody Center.
2. To provide funding for activities for children with Autism such as, skating parties,
horseback riding, surfing, etc. with the help of the NSASA.
3. To expand the residential, recreational, and community integration programs for
children and adults with autism through the Mental Health Association of
Nassau County
4. To provide funding that will assist in the building of future housing so that
children with Autism will have a brighter tomorrow.
Now more than ever...
Our Autism family needs you now more than ever before. We realize that in today’s
economy, it is very difficult to contribute to every charity. We hope you will find it in
your hearts to support us again. We must continue the fight against autism. More children will be diagnosed with Autism this year than with AIDS, diabetes and cancer
combined.
