concerns when towing, so keep in
mind that many chassis manufacturers
recommend a supplemental braking
system for towed vehicles. Other
recommended security, convenience,
and handling features include the
following:
• RV underskirt
• KarGard™—to protect your towed vehicle from road debris
• Tow bar cover
• TruCenter steering control
Towing Vehicles
Most vehicles on the road today can be
towed “four wheels down.” Those with
manual transmissions are the easiest
to tow because they require little or no
modification before towing. Many
four-wheel-drive vehicles such as most
Jeep Grand Cherokees, and certain
automatics fit into this category. The
Chevy Cavalier, Chevy Malibu and
— James and Patricia Turpin
Pontiac Sunfire must have 4T40E
transmissions. Many Saturns with
standard transmissions and most 4wheel drive vehicles are towable as
well. It’s important to know your
vehicle’s requirements before towing,
so if you’re unsure, check your manual
or local car dealer.
