Ines Wurth presents
I Miss Communism(USA)
Written by Ines Wurth and Mark Soper
From Croatia to America and
back, this intense dramatic comedy solo show is about 3 women,
3 generations who lived through 3 wars, 3 concentration
camps, 3 governments, 3 countries and 3 currencies. The
story is about freedom of the spirit, not the political systems. It’s about a woman coming of age. It’s about war,
religion and God. It’s about Oliver Twist. Through music,
tears and great comic timing this story can’t leave you
untouched.
…what a woman. What a story. Shakespeare could not have told
it better. ***** - Edfringe

Why Men Cheat
An outrageous sidesplitting show that
gives away the secrets, techniques and
game-plans of cheaters nation-wide.
Why Men Cheat is based on over 100
interviews with cheaters and those they
have cheated on. Playwright, Peadar de
Burca traveled up and down the country
interviewing an entire spectrum of people and found a
nation of cheaters. Alternately tender and raucous, 12
stories explore almost every facet of cheating.

This Is Not The Life I Ordered
Written by Dessy Walls
Told through powerful songs and
a punchy dialogue, This Is Not the
Life I Ordered is a story of how man
can re-invent himself, having failed
to re-invent his brother. We witness
the divergent lives of Jack, recently
turfed out by yet another woman,
and Simon, who is about to settle down for the first time.
Jack is scruffy, disorganised and still dreaming of the
great showbiz success. Simon, an accountant, has everything in perfect order. The last thing Simon needs is a
scruffy brother invading his minimalist apartment in his last
week as a bachelor. The last thing Jack needs is a brother
based in ‘reality’ poking holes in the dreams he has lived
on for years... You will laugh and cry throughout!

Rose
Written by Martin Sherman
Directed by Ben Hennessy
Directed by Jean-Pierre and Luc
Rose is a survivor. Her remarkable life
began in a tiny Russian village, took her
to Warsaw’s ghettos and a ship called
‘The Exodus’ and finally to the boardwalks of Atlantic City, the Arizona canyons and salsa-flavoured nights in Miami
Beach. The play is both a sharply drawn portrait of a
feisty Jewish woman and a moving reminder of some of
the events that shaped the last century. Fiona York returns
to the stage for this remarkable and moving one-woman
show that has played to audiences internationally.

With this, their second Cannes
Palme d’Or winner, the
Dardenne brothers again explore life on the margins.
Bruno is a 20-year-old happily living a hand-to-mouth
existence funded by goods stolen by the schoolkids in his
gang and by benefits paid out to his 18-year-old girlfriend.
Though almost as reckless as Bruno, she’s unprepared for
his cavalier attitude towards parenthood: unbeknownst
to her, he arranges, in return for easy money, for the baby
to be illegally adopted... The Dardennes’ provide a
wonderfully evocative account of life on the streets: their
astute, detailed observations served by performances of
enormous subtlety and conviction.

The Year of the Hiker
Written by John B. Keane
Directed by Garry Hynes
Designed by Francis O’Connor
What happens when a man, without
a word or gesture, walks out on his
wife and young family? And what
happens when that same man, twenty years later, walks back? Written in
1964, The Year of the Hiker marked a
significant departure for Keane. Set
in the sixties and shot through with yearning and regret
for lost love, Hiker contains some of Keane’s most lyrical
and tender writing. On production the play immediately
gained a major place in the Keane canon and has been
produced almost continuously in Ireland over the last forty
years. This production, the last in the Druid Keane Trilogy,
follows Druid’s award-winning productions of Sive (2002)
and Sharon’s Grave (2003). Not to be missed.

Traveller Girl
Directed by Perry Ogden, Ireland,
2005, 87 mins, PG
Pavee Lackeen presents an

10-year-old traveller girl, who lives with her mother and siblings in a trailer on the side of the road in a desolate part
of Dublin. The film follows Winnie as she struggles with her
identity as a young traveller in contemporary Ireland, and

Familia Rodante, begins when
Grandma drops a bomb-shell:
she’s been invited to be the matron of honour at her
niece’s wedding in the remote village where she was
brought up, and expects her entire family to accompany
her. And so thirteen members of four generations of the
same family cram into the back of an old camper van

Grizzly Man

Herzog’s extraordinary documentary is an unforgettable examination of Timothy Treadwell,
a recovering alcoholic who ditched his struggle as an
actor to live in Alaska among grizzly bears, until he and his
girlfriend were mauled and killed by one of the animals
in 2003. For more than a decade, Treadwell immersed
himself in the bears’ world: observing their interactions,
seemingly befriending them and recording his adventures
on videotape. Grizzly Man is a brilliant assemblage of this
confessional footage with Herzog’s own investigation into
Treadwell’s psyche.

Russian Gypsy meets French Chanson
Caroline Moreau (France) with Nigel
Clark (Scotland), Ariel Hernandez
(Argentina), Oleg Ponomarev (Russia)
Timeless and unapologetically contemporary, Caroline Moreau’s music belongs
to another time and yet manages to
root itself in the present with a rare vitality. Her voice is that perfectly pitched
combination of French sultriness and
quintessentially European insouciance.
Her partnership with Oleg Ponomarev is fired by a shared
appetite for wicked invention and reinvention. Caroline
pays a return visit to Ennis following her much talked about
performance in the Old Ground Hotel last year.
