Mitsubishi Evolution X Intercooler Pipe Kit Installation Instructions Disclamer: This product is intented for off road use only. Driving on public roads and highways with this product installed on vehicle may not be legal in all states. User discretion is adviced. **Please disconnect the vehicle's battery located in the truck prior to installation of this product** 1 Remove the OE airbox air duct 3 Remove 4 x 10mm bolts on the front bumper upper grill 2 Remove the 3 clips, then remove the upper air diffuser 4 Remove the 1 x 10mm bolt and the various push in clips on driver and passenger fender sides Page 1 of 11 5 Remove the 6 10mm bolts that holds the under tray to the bumper 7 9 6 Remove the driver and pass. side front air diffuser front side clips Remove all 3 pieces of the front bottom side air diffusers 8 Remove the 2 10mm bolts on the front side of the bumper Disconnect the OE fog lights connector (Optional) Put painter's tape on the driver and pass. Fender edge 10 to prevent scratches on fender when removing the front bumper Page 2 of 11 Remove the front 11 bumper 13 Disconnect the OE MAF sensor Loosen the 10mm bolt that holds the 15 turbo side of the upper IC pipe Loosen the 10mm Bolt that connects 12 the intake air tube to the air box Remove the 10mm Bolt that holds the airbox to 14 the frame, then remove the OE air box assembly Remove the 2 12mm bolts that holds the OE turbo 16 to IC pipe to the front upper support Page 3 of 11 Loosen the 2 10mm worm clamps that holds 17 the turbo to IC pipe to the Intercooler 18 Install the 1.75" to 2.5" reducer 19 coupler onto the OE turbo discharge J pipe Install the 2.5" coupler onto the 20 OE intercooler inlet Install the Synapse Engineering UICP 21 (KIT000005.1) onto the installed couplers Remove the OE airbox bottomside bracket by 22 removing the 12mm bolts that are circled Remove the upper intercooler pipe Page 4 of 11 Remove the bottom side 12 mm bolt holding 23 the OE airbox bracket to the frame Remove the OE 24 airbox bottomside bracket Remove the 12mm bolt that's 25 supporting the OE Intercooler to TB charge pipe Loosen the 10mm clamp and pull out 26 the OE coupler connected to the throttle body Loosen the 2 x 10mm clamps on 27 OE lower IC charge pipe Disconnect the breather tube from 28 the OE BPV recirculate tube Page 5 of 11 Disconnect the 29 vacuum line from the OE BPV Remove the OE IC 30 to TB pipe & BPV Recirculation pipe Disconnect the remainder of breather tubes from the OE 31 intake, then remove the remainder of the OE intake and BPV Install the 2.75" to 2.5" reducer 32 coupler onto the throttle body Install the 2.5" coupler onto the OE intercooler discharge side, 33 then install the lower intercooler pipe (KIT0000006.1) onto the couplers Push pipe KIT000006.1) into 34 the throttle body coupler Page 6 of 11 Reuse the OE 12mm bolt to 35 secure the braket onto the frame Installed LICP 36A viewed from top side Install the 2.75" to 3" reducer coupler 37 onto the OE turbo inlet Check for clearance between the LICP and body frame. When installed correctly, 36 there should be just enough clearance to prevent from rubbing Installed LICP 36B viewed from bottom side Remove the OE MAF sensor from 38 the OE intake assembly Page 7 of 11 Install the OE MAFsensor onto 39 the Synapse Engineering Intake (KIT000007.1) Install the completed Intake assembly onto 40 turbo inlet, then reconnect all the breather hoses Re-use the 12mm bolt that was removed from the 41 OE airbox assembly to fasten down the intake bracket Install the 1.25" coupler onto the recirculation 42 adapter flange on the Synchronic BOV Place the adapter O-ring on the inlet side of the BOV. Make sure the O43 ring sits flat in the BOV before installing onto the pipe Place the BOV onto the LICP and adjust the position so that the 1.25" 44 coupler can be installed onto the recirculation pipe outlet of the intake Page 8 of 11 Tighten the allen head bolts (set 45 screws) on both sides of the BOV 47 Reconnect the MAF sensor Tighten all the clamps down to 49 ensure install secure Locate the MAF sensor connector 46 that was disconnected in step #13 Install the K&N 48 filter onto the intake pipe Cut 3 appropriate length sections of 50 the Synapse Boost Connect PU hose Page 9 of 11 Push the pre-cut 51 PU hoses into the Y connector Locate the vacuum signal line 52 that was disconnected from the OE BPV Extend the OE vacuum line by pushing the collector side PU 53 hose into it. Then slide the clamps over the inserted part of the vacuum hose Connect the Ysplit PU hoses into 54 port A and B of the Synchrnoic BOV Front "naked" view of vehicle when all 55 components are installed 56 Reinstall the front bumper Page 10 of 11 Reinstall all 3 pieces of the front 57 bottom side air diffusers 58 Reinstall the OE 59 airbox air duct Recheck all hoses, couplers, vacuum lines, clamps, bolts and clips to 60 ensure a secure install. Reconnect the vehicle's battery after checking all steps of the installation. Reinstall the top air diffuser Page 11 of 11
