Food Truck Throw Down Rules and Regulations

Official Rules:
1.
Entries are limited to first ten trucks to register (10). Six (6) promotional TV spots on ABC4Utah Good Things Utah are available
to the first six (6) entries. The spots are first come first serve and get the option of dates in that order. Register early for the
best promo spot. The winner of the contest will be featured on ABC4Utah the day following the contest to feature their
signature dish presented at the contest.
2. Entry form must be received by 3:00 pm, Friday, August 26, 2016. Contest entry includes grounds parking for food truck but
does not include lot parking for additional vehicles outside of the team’s food truck.
3. Check-in and booth set-up begins at 4:00 pm. Cook's meeting is at 4:30 pm.
4. Teams are responsible for bringing their own cooking equipment, fire extinguisher, truck, ingredients, utensils and serving
dishes. All ingredients for cooking will be supplied by the team. All dishes must be cooked during the cook-off. Contestants
may compete from a booth or food truck. If choosing to compete from a booth, proof of ownership of a food truck must be
presented upon registration (pictures, license, etc). Please note preference on application.
5. All dishes will be served at or before 7:00 PM. Contestants will prepare the truck's signature dish to present to judges.
Signature dish may be a main dish, side dish, desert, cake or beverage.
6. Entrants may not be employees of contest sponsors or the Utah State Fair, their affiliates, subsidiaries, families, advertising or
promotional agencies. The 2016 first place winner is not eligible to enter for 2017.
7. Competitors are not allowed to sell to Fair patrons. However, advertising and promotional materials may be distributed.
8. Only one winner per household or address will be chosen.
9. Judging will be blind. Plates and utensils will be provided for judging purposes.
10. Judging will be based on overall appearance of the truck (20%), visual appeal of dish (20%), originality (30%), taste and aroma
(30%). Judges decisions are final.

People’s Choice Contest

Participation in People’s Choice Contest is voluntary and encouraged.
Participating teams must be available to sample from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. At 7:00 p.m. votes will be counted to determine a
winner.
Fair patrons will purchase a sampling card at $3.00 each which entitles them to a ballot, after sampling each truck's dish they
will vote for their favorite. The truck with the most votes will receive the People's Choice award.
All proceeds from the contest will go to a charity of the winning trucks choice. The winner will be presented with a list of
suitable charities from which to choose.
Teams will be provided with 1 oz. sample cups and utensils with which to serve samples on/with. Teams must provide
ingredients for sampling. Participating teams should come prepared to serve 200 samples.
Teams must follow all rules and regulations of the Salt Lake Valley Health Department. Cooking sites may be subject to
inspections by the Salt Lake Valley Health Department.

and regulations are incorporated with and become part of this agreement. I hereby release the Utah State Fair and the
State of Utah from all liability of every kind and character on account of loss, damages, or injury to property which I may
have on the Fairpark. If this form is not completely filled out and signed, it will be returned to the entrant(s) and he/she
may be eliminated from the cook-off.
