All events will take place on the Performance Field in the
Upper Lot of the MetraPark unless otherwise noted.
Walk to the front of the Arena and you’ll see the stairs leading
to the Upper Lot.
FORMATION RIDING INTRO
We invite all interested riders to join us to learn about
building drill teams, then experiencing the steps in developing a riding unit–soon to be a team–and riding the basic
maneuvers as a team. If the new riders do well enough
that first day, and are willing to practice two or three times
during WD, we could potentially showcase their accomplishments during the Drill Team Performances. Ten to
15 minutes of introduction plus riding practice could be
enough time to prove that a team can get off the ground
much easier than most realize. Perfection will and does
take much longer, and that is where the fun will continue.
This knowledge and the contacts you will make can be
taken home with you to begin a new local Drill Team, or let
you know what it takes to join an established team.
TOP GUN
The Top Gun competition provides for a great test of rider
skills. Last year we announced and began a new trend of
bringing new skills to replace some established skills to every Wing Ding; a true challenge for riders. And—new and
exciting this year—we have expanded the competition to be
a continuous course for the rider. No more stop, park, wait!
The competition is structured around the course skills, with
each score based on point deductions.
Competitors will participate in braking, slow ride, cone
weave, U-turns, swerving and other challenges to test your
skill at balance and navigation. All exercises are low speed
with a focus on handling capabilities. There have been contestants who have “aced” the course in the past, and we
may see it again this year.
Full proper riding gear is required to participate.Awards
will be presented in GL1500, GL1800, Open and the new
“Over 65” categories, and at three skill levels: Advanced,
WD17
WD38_Spotlight_draft.indd 17
Expert, and two new divisions: Over 65 and Pro Division.
Pro division is for experienced riders who want the most
challenging course and it will be mandatory for all major
event winners, present and past. If you’re up to competing
with the elite riders, the gauntlet is thrown! Awards will be
presented at the end of competition.
AMAZING TEAM CHALLENGE
This event is a riding challenge open to teams and individuals. It’s a timed, competitive event that involves a straightaway, right and left turns, a couple of 360° circles, a cone
weave, stopping in a box after a timed run, and a lot of FUN.
This event is open to all levels of ability. It can be easy for
the novice rider and humbling for the most advanced rider.
FULL PROPER RIDING GEAR IS REQUIRED. Riders of both
two-wheelers and trikes are invited to compete in these fun
exercises. If you have not seen this event or participated in
it, this is an outstanding opportunity to practice your riding
skills and have fun. Our sincere thanks are extended to all
the volunteers who make this happen!
DRILL TEAMS
On September 3, Wing Ding delegates will be treated to
performances by precision Drill Teams from both the U.S.
and Canada. The precision riding will amaze and entertain
you!
RIDER EDUCATION CLASSES
For other Rider Education Seminars and Meetings, please
see the “Seminar & Meeting Schedule” in the Rider Education booth or online at www.wing-ding.org.
During the course of the week, many volunteer instructors and University Trainers certified to present Rider Education Seminars will provide hours of instruction and training
for our Members. During the rider course training, we will
provide approximately 100 hours of instruction, 36 hours of
CPR/First Aid training, and 40 hours of educational seminars.
These programs would not be possible if not for the dedication and commitment of these Volunteer Members. Please
extend your thanks, along with ours, as you meet these fine
people throughout the week! Signed up for a Rider Safety
Course? A map and details will be sent via email in early
August. If not, please visit the Rider Education Booth in the
east end of the Montana Pavilion.

Wing Ding features plenty of fun and entertainment! In addition to
the nightly entertainment events, the outdoor stages will feature
live music periodically throughout the day as well as a midway
where you can test your skills at games such as Milk Bottle Toss,
Lasso the Cow, and more! But be sure to bring your appetite
because Wing Ding 38 will feature a variety of food trucks for your
dining pleasure. So sit a spell on the many picnic tables located
throughout the grassy courtyard areas between the buildings, get
a bite to eat, listen to music, or play some games!
In addition, Wing Ding 38 will also feature an indoor stage with various entertainment options
happening each day. This stage is located in the O.K. Corral, otherwise known as the GWRRA
Headquarters located in the Montana Pavilion building.

Those dark, hidden places can kill
your steel. Dirt builds up and
traps moisture. Next thing,
corrosion starts. S100® Total
Cycle Cleaner is the answer. Its
creeping power can get to places
you can’t reach or even see. Then
its penetrating action zaps even
the toughest stains. (It’s even got
a corrosion inhibitor so it washes
safely.) Ordinary washes and
cleaners can’t do all that! No
wonder it’s been the favorite
of bike makers themselves for
over a generation. Protect your
expensive investment with the
best cleaning it can get! Find it
at better bike shops.
