It seems the Waking Eyes aren’t holding on to anything with this release, a well-crafted and varied collection of poppy rock. Holding on’s sound is all over the
map: we hear a little bit of Police-esque reggae-like
basslines in songs like the opening title track, a wailin’
’80s guitar breakdown in “Get Me to the Doctor,” and
some more tender moments courtesy of “Pick Up Your Number”
and the “Trouble on the Patio”
