Welcome to My Amazing Summer which
is Fareham’s go to guide to having the
best summer ever. Throughout this guide
you will find lots of exciting activities to
keep you and your family entertained
during the holidays – come rain or shine!
With a huge variety of events taking place
all over the borough, there is definitely
something for everyone.
We hope you find this guide useful
and have a fantastic summer!
THE BIG
FRIENDLY
READ
The Summer Reading Challenge
encourages children aged 4 to 11
to read six books during the long
summer holiday.
There is a different theme each year
and this year it’s inspired by the 100th
anniversary of the birth of Roald Dahl.
Children can read whatever they
like – fact books, joke books, picture
books, audio books – just as long as
they are borrowed from the library.
Every time children finish a book
they get special collectors cards put
in their collectors wallet and there’s
a certificate and medal for everyone
who finishes.
The Summer Reading Challenge is
open to all school children and is
designed for all reading abilities.
This year we have a reading activity
to run alongside the Summer Reading
Challenge for pre-schoolers.
For more information and to take
part, please visit your local library.
