Ponte Vedra is humming with the excitement around the Tournament Players Championship and your club enjoys one of our busiest weeks of the year. I hope you all enjoy the tournament this year, even if that means you watch it from your television at home. This year we hope you will participate with Sawgrass Country Club by making the Beach Club your TPC Headquarters when you are not attending the tournament. The South Course of Sawgrass Country Club will be closed for renovations beginning May 11, 2015 until mid-October, kicking off the third and final phase of our 27 hole golf course renovation project. We will also begin our aerification of our courses on Monday, June 1st and reopen the courses to the membership on Monday, June 8th. The courses will be closed during this process. This is always disruptive but a very necessary part of our maintenance program, so we appreciate your patience and understanding. This time of year we have been experiencing challenges with parking, primarily at the Beach Club and Fitness Center. This year we have increased the amount of oversight of parking attendants in these areas and added passenger carts to assist members getting from their cars to the Beach Club or Fitness Center. What do our members need to be aware of when parking this year? Effectively updating and displaying your stickers is the best way to support our requirement to enforce the parking privileges, which are limited to members only. All residents have access to the Beach Club through the gate. Only members and registered guests may park in our lots. Know where to park. We share a property line with Beach Club Villas and club members are not permitted to park in their lot. Please refer to the map below that indicates acceptable parking areas for our members and their guests. Each day we monitor the parking lots and we have been addressing non-members who park in our lots. Unfortunately we have seen some members parking in Beach Club Villas and we ask you to refrain from doing so in the future. Each non-member violator is sent a letter from the club and is recorded. After they have been informed we will deal with further violations by towing cars from our lots. Please ensure that all guests are properly registered, including their parking credentials when visiting the club. There has been some really good progress since December on Phase II of our Master Facilities Plan which focuses on the Beach Club. On May 1st we are expecting to receive our Guaranteed Maximum Price from our contractor. The mold remediation and HVAC duct work are scheduled to begin between June 1st and June 15th. Our plan for the membership during the disruption of normal business has demanded a great deal of our attention. We understand that the Beach Club is a highly desirable club facility so proper planning for member dining options is a critical decision as we begin the renovation work at the Beach Club. First we plan to be operating as normal until the work begins. Also, we plan to fully utilize the Beach Club Pavilion during the summer months by offering more theme nights and the Golf Club will host Trivia and a la’ Carte dining during this time. Although we believe this to be an adequate adjustment during the renovation, we remain sensitive to our members’ expectations and request your patience and understanding throughout the project. The Sandbar is open seven days a week from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm. There is a new menu offering a larger selection of great food including some very popular Pizza offerings that have caught on well among members. Special nights like the Monday $3 Burger Night and the Tuesday Fish Fry have been well attended and we appreciate our members continued support. June is going to bring some really exciting events including “Dancing with the Stars” on Saturday, June 6th and “Restaurant Wars” on Wednesday June 24th. We presented the responses to the Annual Member Survey at a member meeting held on April 9th which was positive overall but confirmed to us that we have some areas to work on. Your management team and your committees are reviewing this information in great detail and expect to further interpret and respond to the member survey in the coming months. From the Membership Department we are seeing a great deal of interest in Sawgrass Membership. We have seen an increasing amount of traffic and people joining the club in the first quarter that is exceeding what we planned. This will go a long way this year to help us achieve our plan so please keep referring your friends, neighbors and associates to your club. In closing I would like to thank the members for their support over the past few months. Your participation is evident in the dining rooms and other areas. I hope you are enjoying your club often this year and help us continue to make Sawgrass Country Club the very best. During the renovation of the South Course, there will be no trespassing on the South Course property. For everyone’s safety, the South Course is closed to all traffic including walkers, joggers, carts, dog walkers, bicycles, etc. Cart paths will be under construction, bridges will be inaccessible, and areas of the course will be excavated. The normal entry points to the South Course will be closed and appropriate signage will be displayed around the construction area. It is critical that no one uses any part of the South nine to come to the Golf Club or for any other purpose. Your cooperation is necessary and greatly appreciated. This is also a requirement by the contractors insurance while the course is a construction zone and will be enforced. To make contact with the Sawgrass Country Club relating to issues regarding golf course construction please contact 904-273-3720. We apologize for any inconvenience our construction causes for Sawgrass Residents and we thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this process. – Barry McDonald Beach Club Hostess 394–0150 Topsider Lunch Wednesday – Sunday 11:00am–3:00pm Dinner Wednesday – Sunday 5:00–9:00pm Oasis Deck & Oasis Bar Lunch Wednesday – Sunday Dinner Wednesday–Sunday (Open Weather Permitting) Topsider Live Entertainment Thursday & Friday Evening Ocean’s Edge Open Wednesday* through Saturday for dinner 6:00–9:00pm *Trivia nights: 5:00pm Pavilion Sandbar Bistro Call ahead for Carry–Out–Pizza 543–1026 Open Seven–Days–A–Week 11:00am–8:00pm Weather Permitting Tarpon Room (Kid Kare & Kid’s Night Out) 543–1039 Kid Care Monday–Friday 8:00am–12:00pm Friday & Saturday K–N–O 5:00–9:00pm Golf Club and Beach Club hours will be changing in June due to the upcoming Beach Club Renvation.
