A CapeROC initiative
The Margaret River Region Calendar of Events is produced by the Capes
Regional Organisation of Councils (CapeROC). CapeROC is a partnership
between the City of Busselton and the Shire of Augusta Margaret River,
which enables collaboration and resource-sharing for the benefit of the
wider region. The Margaret River Busselton Tourism Association provides
support for the calendar

Margaret River Region
Located 250km from Perth, the Margaret River Region is nestled in the
beautiful south west corner of Western Australia. Recognised as the land
area stretching from Cape Naturaliste in the north to Cape Leeuwin in
the south, the region encompasses the major townsites of Busselton,
Dunsborough, Yallingup, Margaret River and Augusta plus a number
of growing smaller population centres. The Margaret River Region is
a renowned surfing destination, a wine drinker’s mecca and a regional
events hub.

Events and activities
The region stays alive throughout the year with oodles of cultural, art,
sporting, music, community, industry, seasonal and commemorative events
to choose from. Premier sporting events include the Drug Aware Margaret
River Pro surfing event, the SunSmart Ironman WA Busselton endurance
triathlon event, the Rapid Ascent Augusta Adventure Race and the Cape
to Cape Mountain Bike event. Major arts and culture events include
Southbound music festival, Leeuwin Estate Concert, Festival of Busselton,
CinéfestOZ Film Festival and the internationally acclaimed Margaret River
Gourmet Escape food and wine festival.
In between all the big ticket items there are countless community and
family-friendly activities to keep you busy including fetes, markets, stage
shows, vineyard events, fundraisers and so much more!
Seasonal delights
Each season reveals different aspects to appreciate. In summer the
stunning beaches seduce swimmers and kite surfers. From the end of May
to early December, they’re graced with a passing parade of whales.
Autumn sees a flurry of arts and wine-inspired events. In spring, the
wildflowers put on their own dazzling show.
Weather
The mild Mediterranean climate makes the region a year round choice
for holiday makers. In summer, temperatures rarely rise above 32 degrees
centigrade. Although much wetter, winter and springtime enjoy mild
temperatures that average around 16 to 18 degrees during the day and 9
to 11 degrees at night. Most rainfall occurs between the months of April
and October with an annual average rainfall of 982mm.
