History of the Chappell Hill Festivals The Annual Chappell Hill Historical Society Festivals have been a tradition in Chappell Hill, TX for over 50 years. The Chappell Hill Historical Society formed in 1964 to preserve the 1911 Circulating Library, located on Cedar Street. It was in terrible condition, and the society planned the first Bluebonnet Antique Show as a fundraiser for renovations. It now takes place the 2nd weekend in April. The Annual Scarecrow Festival has been a Chappell Hill tradition for nearly 40 years, and used to run the whole month of October. Now it takes place the second weekend. Currently the Bluebonnet and Scarecrow festivals function as the main fundraisers for the historical society and are used to preserve the our historic buildings and Museum. They provide for public programming and exhibits. Thank you! By parking in the CHHS lot and shopping from our vendors, you ensure our programming can continue. Our festivals are a private-sector initiative. Each year the festival becomes more expensive in terms of operations costs. The Society carries the entirety of these costs with the help of our wonderful sponsors. We are proud to say that in addition to supporting our mission, a number of other individuals and community organizations are able to prosper through the festival as well.
