BUILDER CHASSIS KITS
The Builder Chassis Kits are designed for the experienced rodder with considerable chassis
knowledge and fabricating skills. This chassis features a com-pletely jig welded frame and frontend assembly on an other-wise bare chassis. Included in the builder kits are upper and lower
tubular “A” arms with ball joints, and an “A” arm hardware kit. Motor mounts, transmissions
mounts and brackets for the rear suspension are not included with the builder chassis.

‘23 “T” Chassis with Independent Front Suspension
Main Street Rod Company’s ‘23 “T” Chassis utilizes a modern independent front suspension
designed for great handling and a smooth ride. Our 23 “T” Chassis is available in either a
Standard or Lo-rider model. Both feature a SuperRide independent front suspension with
tubular upper and lower “A” arms. The SuperRide IFS was designed in conjunction with Heidt’s
Hot Rod Shop, Inc. specifically for Main Street Rod Company’s 23 “T” Chassis.

Main Street Rod Company’s 23 “T” frame is Heavy Duty. No lightweight steel tub-ing used
here. Our 23 “T” frames are constructed of 2” X 3” .188 wall tubing for additional strength.
The use of a thicker wall tubing also allows you to drill and tap the frame walls for mounting
brackets and accessories. Our chassis are designed for our enlarged ‘23 T-tub bodies, which
are four inches longer and two inches wider than the original “T” Bucket.
The Standard model has a 6” kick-up in the rear and is designed for use with stock Mustang II
front spindles and a traditional radius rod rear suspension. The wheel-base for this model is
103 inches. A 20” pickup bed is recommended with our body on this frame.
The Lo-rider frame has a longer lower look achieved with an 8” kick-up in the rear and 2”
dropped spindles in the front. A triangulated rear suspension and a 30” pick-up bed are
recommended for this chassis. The use of a triangulated rear on the Lo-rider allows the frame
to sit three inches lower than the Standard and eliminates body contact with the radius rods.
The wheelbase on this model is 110 inches.

We now have frames with rails contoured to fit the outside shape of the body from the firewall
back so the rails look like an extension to the body. From the firewall forward the rails are pinched
to the front so the grill shell and hood line are directly over the outside edge of the frame. The rear
kick-up follows the back of the body up 12 inches and then goes straight back to a rounded rear
section. The frame rails are also tapered two inches in height from the rear of the body to the front
of the radiator. This creates a two inch rake with the bottom of the frame parallel to the ground. A
three inch round tube front crossmember comes standard with the basic frame.

Fully bolt-in crossmember uses Pinto-Mustang geometry and most parts. No bump steer or
other unpleasant surprises. Upper coil spring pads are adjustable for ride height changes,
providing 2 1/2” adjustment at the wheel. NOTE: ‘49 - ‘54 Chevy kit requires the use of tubular
lower control arms for clearance. Only available with manual steering.

Some cars have a frame which do not allow for a simple Mustang II installation, yet are too narrow for a GM sub-frame. Fat
Man builds front clips that provide a 2” to 4” drop, and include pre-made mounts for bumpers and sheetmetal. Sheetmetal
mounts with very minor or no trimming required. Must be shipped by truck freight.

All new SUPERIDE - not a Mustang conversion kit. Independent Front Suspensions have to be
designed as a complete system, the individual components of these kits are not interchangeable
with any other stock pieces. Every piece was designed specifically by Heidt’s for the SUPERIDE
systems. Installing the one piece cross-member is an easy one-step operation. The upper
control arms are designed to clear the fenders. The 56” hub to hub tread width gives you the
narrow look without any tire to fender clearance.

Total Cost Involved’s Performance Style 4-Link is a true bolt-in kit with no cutting into the floor required. Now included FREE
are un-equal length, adjustable 1.25” 4-Link “FAT” bars. Link bars eliminate wheel hop while the “coil over shocks” provide

MUSTANG II IFS KIT
MUSTANG II SUB-FRAME ASSEMBLY
NO WELDING! Now install a Heidt’s Mustang II™ or SUPERIDE II IFS Kit in your Nova with no
welding. Even the motor mounts are already welded in place. Simply unbolt your complete
front clip and bolt in the Heidt’s complete suspension sub-frame. Install the firewall supports,
bolt on the suspension components and you are all set. The stock radiator mount even bolts
right up. Since this is a no weld installation, we require you to use our Full Lower A-Arms, on
the Mustang II kits, as we welded the sleeves in place for you. All the other factory Mustang
II components can be used with this kit. Sub-frame kits include many standard features such
as tubular control arms, 11” disc brakes, manual rack & pinion steering, motor mount stands
welded in place and firewall tubes with shims. NOTE: Heidt’s offers a long list of options
available for both IFS packages. Including 13” Brakes, narrowed A-arms, dropped spindles,

A four inch drop that are machined to accept the early Ford spindle which come in two
standard width, 46 1/2 inches and 49 inches from kingpin to kingpin. However, special order
tube axles can be made in any lengths between 42 to 49 inches and have several choices of
spindle applications and drop distances. Tube ends are cast from 65-45-12 ductile iron and

Alum “I” Beam
The “New” Super Bell Axle Co. is proud to introduce to you our newest I-Beam axle called
the Alum “I” beam. Computer designed and strength tested, this axle combines Super Bell’s
traditional I-beam ‘narrow upsweep’ with the original 1932 truck (wider style) belly and
features a raised “Super Bell” shield on only one side of the beam. Measuring 46” king pin to
king pin our Alum “I” beam is designed for use under the 1928-34 Ford using the ‘37-’48 Ford
passenger car spindles. Forged from 7175-T74 aircraft aluminum and “Made in the USA”,
Super Bell’s Alum “I” beam is lighter (9.5 lbs), stronger (tested in the real world), and better

“The best ride in street rodding.” Aluminum body, available in polished or a bright anodized
finish. Shock mounting hardware features Teflon/Kevlar replaceable, self-lubricating, low
noise spherical bearings or one-piece bushings. 12 Valving options available to adjust ride
control. Spring mounting hardware includes an anodized aluminum spring cap, seat and
locking ring. Springs are available with a chrome powder coat finish or polished and chrome
plated finish. NOTE: Please call for pricing and information to determine the correct shocks
and spring rates for your application.
Eliminates the need for a panhard bar. Rear brackets have three mounting holes for adjustable
height. Kits include adjustable bars with urethane bushings and all necessary hardware.
