Research
Group
(www.barna.org) has reported that this
year’s tight presidential race will be greatly
influenced by the faith of those voting! In
the Barna survey, when people were asked
why they would choose Kerry over Bush,
they responded, “he’s not George Bush.”
Nearly 44% of Kerry supporters gave this
answer.
Of those who support the re-election of
President Bush, 25% cited his job performance; 18% cited his character, 14%
cited his handling of foreign policy; and
12% cited the integration of his faith and
moral views into his decisions.
The Christian vote is essential this year!
In the election of 2000, Christian voters
gave the margin of victory to President
Bush. According to Barna’s statistics, there
were slightly less than 50 million
Christian voters in 2000 and slightly more
than 55 million non-Christian voters.
Forty-eight percent of the voters were selfdescribed Christians. Of those 50 million
Christian voters, 57% voted for Bush;
42% voted for Al Gore!

Uniting Christians in Service to our Communities

As his message unfolded, worldrenowned author Josh McDowell had the
crowd of over 250 pastors watching in
silence as he illustrated many of the problems the church faces in reaching young
people in the United States. The meeting
was not a pep-rally. It was a wake-up call
to pastors and leaders regarding the true
beliefs of young people in America.
His message, which is part of the
“Beyond Belief Tour” that began in
Tennessee, treks through the Midwest and
ends in the Treasure Valley, was delivered
to pastors and leaders at a luncheon held,
August 26, at the Doubletree Riverside
Hotel in Boise.
Attendance at the Boise Pastors/Leaders
meeting was the largest of its kind for any
city on the “Beyond Belief Tour.”
There was no cost for the 90-minute
event, which is the first of three meetings
McDowell is holding in the Treasure
Valley in the coming months. During the
Pastors/Leaders meeting, McDowell
underscored the need to deal with beliefs,
which he maintains influence values and
actions.
The next event is the “Why Belief
Matters” a three-session seminar for parents and adults, October 1, at the
Vineyard Christian Fellowship in Boise
(4950 N. Bradley) from 7-10 p.m. Over
1,500 adults are expected to attend the
free seminar.
McDowell’s message to church leaders
in the ballroom left many with at least one
point that hit home. “The problem
defined is half solved,” said Scott Nelson,
an Elder at Boise Valley Christian
Communion, referring to one of
McDowell’s opening statements. “We are
in a society – and this is where Josh is hitting the nail on the head – where there is
absence of absolutes and moral values
based on (Biblical) beliefs.”
The final event is the “Bold Truth
Tour” which will be held Sunday,
November 14 and is tentatively set to take
place from 7-10 p.m. in the Johnson

If there is any pastor that should be recognized for his
faith, good deeds and his love for God it should be
Pastor Terrance Josephson or “Pastor T” to most who
know him and love him.
He was born in Boise, Idaho and as a child he lived
as a military brat. He and his family lived in Shipton
Court Castle in Bird Drop Park, England for almost
three years and then they lived on the Air Force Base in
Mountain Home until Terrance was nine years of age.
Later, as a young man he was sound-man for Rocky
Mountain Ozone Band. His then wife-to-be, Cindy and
her twin sister Lindy were singing back-up for the band.
Twenty-five years later he and Cindy were married and
they just had their sixth anniversary in May. Their two
daughters, Hannah and Anna, live with them while
their older daughter and son, Sarah and Ross, live in
Parma and Boise.
Pastor T. started as a pastor at the Friends Quaker
Church of Boise. He then was a pastor of a church in
Entiat, Washington for two years. After returning to
Boise, God gave him his own church – Christ Recovery
Church. This is a church where he has a chance to work
with men and women coming out of jail and prison
with alcohol and drug abuse problems and a great need
for a recovery program.
A former drug and alcohol abuser himself, Terrance
was busted. He found Jesus Christ in the back of a
police car and that’s when he started his life as a born
again Christian.
Free of drugs and alcohol for fourteen years, he works
for the cause of helping men and women coming out of
jail and prison with alcohol and drug abuse problems.
Through his ministry he gives them temporary housing
and support until they can get back on their feet and
start a new and better life with Jesus Christ. Right now
there are three “Victory Houses” – two women’s and
one men’s house. He hopes to start a few more houses
so many other men and women can have a chance at a
new life.
Pastor T. is a very busy man. Along with his jail ministries, two Victory meetings and one Bible study per
week, he reads letters and sends out Victory packets to
people in prison and jail who want to be in the program. He also is doing two church services on Sunday –
one in Boise and the other in Glenns Ferry. He is also
busy with “one-on-ones” with the men and women in
the program, marriage classes and baptisms in the Boise
River.
Their home is always open to people for love, food,
comfort, or just if you need someone’s shoulder to cry
on. They have been known to sacrifice their home to the
homeless and less fortunate, giving them food and love.
They also hope to restart “The Samaritan Way”
which will supply furniture, food and household items
for the needy, people coming out of jail, the homeless,
and fire victims.
Many judges in Boise now recognize and use Pastor
T’s Victory in Christ program as an alternative to sentencing.
We love Pastor T. and Cindy and know that the Lord
has brought these two together to do God’s work in the
field of saving souls. For all the strife and warfare they
have to go through to get these things done, they always
consider these as “COUNTED JOYS.”

Ten Commandments... Boise
City Council Delays Decision on Vote!
The goal: 8,693 signatures of registered Boise voters.
Time frame: 60 days. The deadline: August 13.
That was the task before the Keep the Commandments Coalition on June 14 when the Boise City Clerk
approved the Coalition’s petition to place a new Ten
Commandments display in Julia Davis Park.
Gathering 8,693 signatures does not seem like a
daunting task until you actually set about doing it, in
which case it can appear insurmountable. Under the
overall leadership of co-directors Brandi Swindell and
Rev. Bryan Fischer, with constant counsel from Rev.
Patrick Mahoney of the Christian Defense Coalition,
dozens of volunteers came together to invest hundreds
of hours in the project.
Volunteers, such as Anthony Harper, publisher of the
Treasure Valley Christian News, stationed themselves
outside public buildings like the library and the post
office. Others roamed commercial parking lots, downtown sidewalks, and the launch site at Barber Park. Still
others manned booths just outside Boise Hawks stadium and a Christian book store.
Many went door-to-door under the capable leadership and direction of Glen Liberty, who mapped out the
entire city in quadrants, and maintained a master map
in the Coalition offices to make sure canvassers weren’t
sent to homes that had already been visited. Teams went
out on Tuesday nights and Saturday mornings for six
weeks, then every night, including Sundays, for the final
two week push.
David Hollander, an experienced web designer (and
known around the office as “The Magic Man”), established a data base so names could be entered by volunteers as signatures were collected. He cross-matched our
data base with the data base of registered Boise voters so
we automatically had an up-to-the-minute total of the
number of certified signatures which were being accumulated.

Elysse Barrett did a masterful job of coordinating the
work of all the volunteers and overseeing the data entry
and secure storage of signed petitions. This became
increasingly important when the Coalition offices were
vandalized on July 4 (no suspects were identified, but
the incident was not repeated).
Lee and Elaine Jones led a superb effort to engage the
LDS community in signature gathering, and designed
and built a Ten Commandments float for the
Independence Day parade (winning the sweepstakes
award at the Melba parade along the way).
Mindi Wilhelm did a superb job of maintaining a
team of intercessors who provided an ongoing stream of
prayer support. Much of the praying was done on the
very site in Julia Davis Park from which the original
monument was removed, and which will be the eventual site of the new display.
By the time Friday, August 13 rolled around,
Coalition volunteers turned in 13 boxes containing
18,933 signatures to the city clerk. The clerk and her
staff spent the next two weeks validating those signatures. In all, 10,721 signatures were certified, more than
2,000 more signatures than were required to put the initiative on the ballot. (The bulk of the signatures that
were invalidated belonged to registered Boise voters
whose addresses had changed.)
The city, at press time, has refused to place the initiative on the ballot, claiming that an initiative cannot be
used for this particular purpose. The Coalition’s attorney, Christ Troupis, has prepared a persuasive rebuttal
to what appears to be a blatant attempt on the part of
the city to deprive its citizens of their right to vote. A
hearing will be held on October 1 in district judge
Wilper’s chambers, and the city has pledged to put the
initiative on the ballot if he rules in the Coalition’s favor.
Due to printing and notification deadlines, the initiative will not appear on the November ballot, but instead
will go before voters at a special election to be held on
February 1.
It’s worthy of note that the city council has the prerogative to enact the ordinance on its own, in which
case the need for, and the costs associated with, an election simply go away. Or the city council can drop its
legal maneuverings and order the initiative to go on the
November ballot, when the costs of holding an election
will be much lower than in February. The last chapter in
this story has yet to be written.

Tickets for the “Bold Truth Tour” are $14 for individuals, $10 for groups of 10 or more and $14 at the door,
the night of the event.
“I’m going to try to get every parent in our church to
go to the parent’s seminar,” said Brian Merz,
Discipleship Pastor at Second Baptist Church in Boise.
“What (McDowell) says about this being the first time
in history that two cultures living in the same home, is
absolutely true.”
McDowell demonstrated differences between parents
and young adults that are not just generational, but cultural as well. He asserted that this is the first time in history that such a phenomenon has existed.
The “Beyond Belief Tour” is being brought to the
area by Treasure Valley Festivals, which coordinated the
2001 Luis Palau Festival that attracted 100,000 people
in two days to Ann Morrison Park in Boise.
McDowell’s resume is impressive to say the least. To
date, he has written or co-written 77 books on topics
ranging from Christian apologetics to common problems facing youth. Several are bestsellersand are recognized as leading books on the Christian faith. Among
his most popular contributions on apologetics are
“Evidence That Demands A Verdict” (published in
1972), which was recognized by World Magazine as one
of the 20th Century’s top 40 books and “More Than a
Carpenter” (His seminary thesis, published in 1977 and
translated into more than 50 languages).
McDowell stressed that the “Beyond Belief Tour” will
not impact the Treasure Valley on its own. Without a
process, events alone will fail. And the process depends
upon the unity of the churches in the community.
Others agreed. “The impact will be based on the willingness of the Body of Christ to come together,” Nelson
said. “We’ll get out of it what we put into it.”

The Lord gave the vision for Idaho Baptist College. What started in 1995
as a few meeting for classes has grown to 101 students in 2004. Idaho
Baptist College (IBC) has three individuals who will receive their diplomas
this spring. Two pastors have gone to Boise State University where their
courses from IBC transferred. One received a whole year of credits on his
degree.
The fall semester of IBC started on September 26th. Classes offered are
Greek II, Study of Romans and a class on Church History. The Copple
farm was purchased by Anchor Baptist Church and IBC. The church and
the college will meet in the residence until the first college unit is built on
this land. You can see the sign for the college on the comer of Columbia and
Meridian Roads. It truly is a “Praise to God” to have property in the very
heart of Boise Valley.

Some Anchor Baptist members are Directors and on the Foundation
Boards for the college. This group is committed to starting new work and
putting trained workers and pastors in the body of Christ all over the valley, Idaho and the region. This is a vision that the Lord is ready to make
happen now. People are ready to do the task and pray that others will catch
the vision too.
Prayer is needed for this God-sized job. The end results are in His hands.
The challenge is to seek the Lord’s leadership concerning your part in prayer
and giving. Many are faithfully giving monthly. Some churches are putting
this mission effort in their monthly budgets. The Director and Foundation
members know that help is on the way in answer to His call. The door is
open wide to any who would be led to come along side in whatever way the
Lord leads. Prayer, funds, more staff, scholarships and the future buildings
are needed to fully establish the Idaho Baptist Campus for the Lord.

Delight in
the Light –
Upcoming Book Release

When we are fully delighting in the Lord, He said
He would give us the desires of our heart. When His
Word is in our hearts, we can ask whatever we will,
and it will be given to us. See John 15:7.
Instead of delighting ourselves in our hearts’ desires,
let’s let Him make an inner adjustment on the inside
of us. Let’s get the Word of God into our hearts and
root out all other words.

In Psalm 37:4, we find these words in the KJV:
Delight thyself also in the Lord; and He shall give thee
the desires of thine heart.
MISSION STATEMENT
The word “also” (not found in other versions) means
“in addition to.” In addition to what? In addition to
the preceding verses.
Also, God is love. 1 John 4:16. So, as we delight ourselves in the Lord, we will be delighting ourselves in
His love. We will love Him totally, and our neighbor
as ourselves. Luke 10:27.
What does it mean to delight in the Lord? In John
1:1, we find that God is the Word. So, as we delight
ourselves in the Lord, it can mean that we’re delighting ourselves in His Word. The entrance of His
Word brings light (Psalm 119:105); so to delight
ourselves in His Word is to delight in His light.
We will be afflicted and persecuted for the Word’s
sake. See Mark 4:17. We’re promised that this will
happen. We’ll be challenged, sometimes unmercifully, as we choose to delight in the light.
To share the gospel of Jesus Christ and to serve (to inform,
motivate and equip) Christian churches in the Treasure
Valley – Idaho area via our newspaper, in print and online.
Informing – sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and Christian
events and resources people can participate in.
Motivating – addressing spiritual growth issues and encouraging people to attend a bible believing church of their
choice.
Equipping – Equipping churches by sharing examples of
successful outreach church ministries to our community and
how their church can replicate this type of ministry.

His Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light to our
paths. Psalm 119:130. Sometimes when it seems so
dark, we simply need more of God’s Word on the
inside of us, through reading it, meditating on it,
studying it, and speaking it.
God is a consuming fire. Hebrews 12:29. So, if we
are truly delighting in Him, we will allow His fire to
consume us. God is a Spirit. John 4:24. To delight in
Him is to be filled with His Spirit.
But, we can’t give up; because we know that all things
will work together for our good (and the good of all
others who also love God). Romans 8:28. And, we
will reap a harvest in due season, if we don’t quit.

Why We Need a Life Skills Ministry –
Sin brings pain, but God can use the pain in our lives
to: Reveal Himself and His true character.

During the recovery process, people need encouragement, hope, information, and support to help them

Capitol District
Church Heads Toward
Rebirth

The cornerstone at Ninth and Franklin says the
building was built in 1910. The National Register of
Historic Places says it was built by Charles Storey, who
later built the Capitol. The giving for Christ’s glory
from the then 26-year-old congregation built it.
The building seems small tucked up against Boise
High, but its design and acoustics has enabled a thousand people to enjoy speaking and music. It’s grand
stained-glass windows were crafted by an artist known
across America. Like a solar-lighted Power-Point presentation they glow with timeless facets of Christ. It is still
popular for weddings, memorials and receptions.
But time has taken its toll. Improvements in bathrooms and lighting have been postponed and its 11bank pipe organ needs a repairman’s master touch. The
congregation of Central Christian Church has dwindled. Chris Davis, who has served the young families
and long-timers for seven years, confesses his need to
better provide for his family by the end of
this year.
In May, Central Christian was ready to
sell the building but Christ’s church is
accountable to Him for the congregation’s
souls, the building and the location. Local churches are
helping a thriving church develop there again.
Crossroads Christian is matching Eagle Christian’s
financial commitment, a handful of households from
Treasure Valley churches have volunteered to join the
church and Gary and Joyce Anderson are giving their 32
years of ministry experience in Hong Kong, Idaho and
the San Francisco bay area to help pastor. The intent is
to bring Christ from God’s heart to the hearts of people
who live, work and study in the Capitol district – to
deepen their intimacy with God – for Christ to be their
heart-throb.
Central Christian is even forming into a new church
with a new name, Capitol City Christian Church, to be
a church Christ wills and the New Testament records.
They are God’s adopted children. The acronym
ADOPT emphasizes five points of their intent: adore
God, disciple folks, obey Christ, pray God’s presence
and take care of each other. God willing, this will
include Christ-centered recovery groups, regular Bible
training and fellowship for Boise High students, godly
breakfasts, lunches or dinners and fellowship for young
singles. A regular worship when people can catch buses
home is also planned for the blind and others who don’t
drive.
Central invites friends to pray that Christ be fully
honored in this endeavor and to call 631-4438 in a
grand building make-over to help during the week of
October 17 by providing discounted or donated items
such as: a video projection unit, rear projection screen,
shelving, plaster, paint, winch, insulation, blinds, signage, cabinets, baptistery heater and lining.
Central would also like to borrow a utility trailer,
man-lifter, shop vac, scaffolding, step ladders, extension
ladders, shop-smith, trowels, and painting tools.
Volunteers are also needed to provide: general contracting, drafting, transportation, purchasing, plumbing, woodworking, painting, stained glass repair, bookkeeping, locksmithing, secretarial, cabinetry, electrical,
mechanical, and safety work.

Breaks Ground
Trinity Presbyterian Church is breaking ground on its new facility at its
future location – near Surprise Valley (Southeast Boise area), October 17th,
at 3:00 p.m. The new facility and its new location reflect Trinity's mission to
call people to know Christ, to grow in Christ, and to share the love and hope
of Christ. The new worship center will seat between 400-600 and is designed
to utilize the latest multi-media equipment to enhance both a traditional
worship experience and a more current culture creative experience.
Trinity Presbyterian Church has had an active ministry presence in southeast Boise for over 100 years. In its history, Trinity has changed locations and

Crane Creek Baptist Church has been
blessed by the arrival of Paul and Regina Okeny
and their four children. Refugees from Sudan,
they arrived in the United States last year after
living in Uganda for several years. A childhood
friend, Jimmy Katumba, helped the Okenys get
to Boise and introduced them to Pastor David
Hardesty and Crane Creek Baptist Church.
In Africa Paul was an evangelist and pastor,
starting several churches in his area. Traveling
by bicycle, he often covered hundreds of miles
a month. Now he is employed at Wal-Mart and
Regina works at a hotel, but he plans to con-

tinue his pastoral education and hopes to start
an Arabic-language church in Boise. Paul and
Pastor David meet regularly in a mentoring
relationship, and Paul preaches at Crane Creek
one Sunday each month.
As for the future, Paul says, “As God wills.
Living in the United States is much better,” he
laughs, “but I would like to take the word of
God to my country.”

you are neither cold nor hot.

Are you lukewarm? Are you
one of those people who will be
one way at church – worshiping and
praising God, talking about God with your
Christian friends, being a “good little Christian,”

way during the week? God doesn’t want us to live
a life of mediocrity. He does not want us to be
lukewarm in our walk with Him (or lack thereof).
In other words – God wants us to be either hot or
cold, He wants us to put every single area of our
life in His hands. God doesn’t want us to live our
life half for the world and half for Him. He wants
us to be more than that, more than mediocre.
Is every area of your life aimed at glorifying
God? Whether it would be school, work, family,
friends, dating relationships or whatever. God
wants every area of your life to be either completely devoted to Him or not at all. God doesn’t
want you to be mediocre or “lukewarm.” In
Revelation 3:16 God says that He is about to spit
you out of His mouth because you are lukewarm.
Don’t be the type of person that makes God want
to vomit! (Revelation 3:16 – The Message) Choose

eternity in hell when you die. It’s your choice. Of
course, you’re not perfect, nobody is perfect! But
everybody can live their lives to glorify God and
only God.

Solomon Islands Mission Trip

The Solomon Islands have been in the hands of Satan for hundreds or maybe thousands of
years. I was more than proud in being a part of loosening that grip that the enemy had by
bringing the message of Jesus Christ, a message of hope, love and freedom to the lost people
of the islands.
Stepping off of the plane into that battlefield, or mission field, of the Solomons, all 16 members in my team had no expectation of what was to come. But what God did down there was
amazing. Countless numbers of people found a new hope in Jesus Christ. Many other people
also re-committed their lives to Christ. Many people, all children, were able to see God in a new
way by being baptized in the Holy Spirit. That was probably the most memorable time
throughout the whole trip. It was incredible seeing God put a spark in the children’s lives in a
way they weren’t even expecting.
Despite all of the rain, humidity, and giant spiders, God was able to work through us in an
incredible way. Through Him many felt a freedom in their lives that they had never felt before.
God was with us every single step of the way throughout the whole trip. We know that
because of the healings that took place in our team and the awesome, never failing protection
that He gave to us. I have to tell you the truth the devil was not happy with us, and we know
this because of the spiritual attacks that he put against us. Through that we know that God
and our small team from Meridian Assembly of God were doing some very effective things in
people’s lives. This trip was nonetheless life changing and is something that I will never forget.
Now what about you? You may be thinking “I am just too young to go on a trip like that
and share the love of God.” I’ve only just turned 15. I’ve had those kinds of thoughts also. But
it says in l Timothy 4:12, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set
an example for other believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.” This includes
doing the work of the Lord as I did. Now I challenge you to take up your cross and let God lead
you in the way He wants to. God will bless you immensely!
Why am I here?
How do I overcome this loneliness?
What makes my life so hard?
Where is that
one special relationship?

We’ve all felt these things. In such moments, you know there’s something missing,
something wrong in your world. You know there’s a relationship you don’t have
that you’re supposed to have. At times you may have felt you have found it,
perhaps in a love relationship, but that feeling never seems to last.
Every relationship leaves you with this hole in your heart. Something isn’t right,
but we just can’t find it or fix it. But it doesn’t ever have to be that way for you
again. There is an answer to your search.
There is One who loves you as His child, and wants you to enjoy a relationship
with Him. He is the answer to your search for that ultimate relationship. He will
fill the hole in your heart, help you overcome your loneliness and your faults, give
you peace here and now, and eternal life with Him in Heaven. He is the one
Creator of the universe and all it contains, including you. You won’t be complete
inside until you have a personal relationship with the God who created you.
How Do We Know This?
God is also the Author of the most important Book of all time, The Bible,
His “Owner’s Manual” for a Human Life. In His Book, He says: John 3:16, KJV - For
God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever
believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
How do I ask Him? Pray
Prayer is simply talking to God, not magic words. Your prayer should be your
own, from your own heart. If you’re not in the habit of praying, though, you may
need an example. Such a prayer may go something like this:
Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness.
I was made for You, but I’ve been living for me. I want to begin a relationship
with You now. I believe that You died in my place, to pay the penalty for my sin,
and rose again for my salvation. I want to turn from my sins. I now invite You to
come into my heart and life as my Lord and Savior.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
You can belong to God from today on if you will tell Him with all your heart.

I have been learning and growing a lot recently, in my
walk with God, but one thing I’m still trying to learn is
words from God… I have a hard time hearing him sometimes, and I really want to ask this one question… my exboyfriend and I broke up early June and he always said
that we were going to be friends after we broke up. Well,
we’ve barely spoken and when we do he’s mean to me.
My friend asked him about it and he replied “aren’t I
supposed to act like that? She’s my ex.” Well, lately I’ve
really wanted to pursue a friendship with him. He’s a
great guy and a follower of Christ… I’ve emailed him a
few times and he said that he’s just too busy… my question is, should I keep trying to be his friend? Or just forget about him… it’s even harder now that school has
started… we see each other all the time… I really do miss
him, he was my best friend… what should I do?
Dear Alicia,
Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything,
but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of
God, which transcends all understanding, will guard
your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Thank you for being so open and honest with your
feelings. I understand all too well how it feels when
someone promises to be friends with you once the closer bonds of a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship is over,
only to find that the way they act towards you is now
anything but friendly. Take heart, the only things you
are responsible for right now are 1) pursuing the Lord
100 %, and 2) treating those around you (including your
ex) with the love, respect and integrity expected of a
child of God.
I know it is hard, and I also know that the Lord is
your strength. In those moments when rejection is the
only thing you feel, remember that you are more than
accepted by the one who created the universe! Praise the
Lord! Girl, in my experience, the Lord’s timing is perfect,
that means that right now, you may simply be in a holding/molding pattern. Wait on the Lord… it is not within
your control to change your ex’s heart; only God can.
Give your future hopes, and current anxieties over to
the only one able to truly handle them… He will direct
you as you passionately seek His face only!

On August 13th and 14th, eighteen Christian bands and over 4,300 concert goers lit
up Centennial Park in the Snake River Canyon for the 2nd annual Rock the Canyon
Festival. Rock the Canyon was birthed from a passion to see the good news of Jesus
Christ shared throughout Idaho through a music outreach.
José Zayas from Luiz Palau’s Next Generation Alliance came to Twin Falls to help the
Rock the Canyon Organization effectively spread the gospel. Over 250 volunteers from
over 20 churches came together in a effort that can only be described as “the body of
Christ.”
Some of the bands that were present where the OC Supertones, Pillar, Tree63, Grits,
Paul Colman, Kutless, Cool Hand Luke,
Jonah 33, Grand Prize, and the Kori
Ashton Band. It was awesome to see so
many fellow believers come together and

With the impending
demise of Idaho’s Parental
Consent Law – and the government’s continuing failure
to enforce our Informed Consent Law – Idaho’s daughters have never been in such a vulnerable position.
We are most likely looking at 9-12 months during
which teenage girls will be at the mercy of Planned
Parenthood and their team of abortionists. Idaho
Chooses Life produced our own Informed Consent
pamphlet this summer. It has received tremendous
reviews from doctors, counselors and pastors. We
believe it can save lives – but only if we can get into the
hands of women and girls before they make the deadly
decision of ending their baby’s life.
We have distributed about 800 of these pamphlets so
far – mostly to churches and pregnancy centers around
the state. That is a great foundation – but we must do
more.
The pro-Life community doesn’t need to wait for
new judges or a better legislature to make sure that this
pamphlet gets to girls who need to know help is available. We can run radio and television ads to let them
know that there is hope and love available through the
pregnancy centers around Idaho.
We now have this pamphlet, free of charge, to girls
who want to know the truth about abortion, who need
to know who they can call for help. It is also available

PURE LOVE CONFERENCE
Victory Christian Church, teaming up with other local
churches and sponsors have set out to bring a much awaited
message of PURITY to young ladies (11yrs and up) of the
Treasure Valley through the “Pure Love Conference”.
Through the “Pure Love Conference” we hope to educate our
young ladies to make informed right decisions as they struggle with their temptation to give in to their boyfriend, their own
physical urges, or social pressure. The conference will
include exciting inspirational speakers such as: Dee Sarton Channel 7 News Anchor, Lonna Vopat - Mrs. Idaho Globe
2003 and many others. In addition, the young ladies will be
entertained by a fashion show, drama group and live music.
An appetizing catered lunch will be provided along with gift

Judge Roy Moore’s Ten Commandments monument
was recently on display in Dayton, Tennessee. John
Rocco was there with other supporters. Larry Darby,
from the Atheist Law Center, passed by and Rocco
bumped his knee against the atheist’s leg. Darby shouted, “That’s typical Christianity!”
Mr. Rocco claimed the knee bump was accidental.
Then he added, “I’m glad I didn’t carry my gun. I’d
probably be in jail right now. I believe in the Ten
Commandments and I don’t appreciate what people like
him are doing to my country.”
I laughed at the irony: John Rocco believes so strongly in the Ten Commandments that he felt like shooting
Larry Darby, even though one of those commandments
says, “Do not murder.” Jesus said we also break it by
expressing angry contempt for people (Matthew 5:2122). I confess I’ve done it.
There are good reasons for Christians to feel righteous anger. But, generally speaking, “man’s anger does
not accomplish God’s righteousness” (James 1:20). The

John 2:13-25.). But, it’s awfully tough for me to emulate him in that. Once in a blue moon my “righteous
indignation” may actually be righteous and be exercised
in love, with positive results. More often, it smacks of
pride and looks ugly.
So, here’s my plan for this election season: 1) I’ll pray
to resist the pull toward angry zeal; 2) I’ll try to speak
the truth in love; and, 3) I won’t be packing a gun.

In the current Ten Commandments debate we must
remember that one of the biggest myths the West
bought from the Enlightenment was that secularism
was a neutral idea, whose claims had no impact whatsoever.
The problem with this view is that secularism isn’t
neutral. Even though secularism doesn’t hold any sacred
ceremonies or prayers, the idea that God should remain
separated from government is hardly a neutral one.
The culture’s understanding of the nature of marriage, sexuality, education, criminal justice, war, economics, art, and the meaning of life itself are heavily
dependent upon whether you’re influenced by a sacred
or secular viewpoint. In fact, “neutral viewpoint” is an
oxymoron. It just doesn’t exist.
An officially secular government is an irrational and
baseless government. Solomon was correct in
Ecclesiastes when he said that everything is meaningless
without God. However, the bankruptcy of a secular
government is exposed when you examine the whole
purpose of government: To recognize and protect meaning in our world.
If you don’t want a government that is as baseless as
secularism you’ve got to do something to make it so it
isn’t secular. Doing things like posting the Ten
Commandments in public places would do just that.
