Welcome to the Kings Point Theatre. We are proud to announce this season’s new series of incredible shows. Many performers will be making their Kings Point debut, along with performers who have entertained us in the past. This seasons programming includes comedy, revues, singing, dance and musical groups. This will be a fantastic season with entertainers such as Art Explosion, The Unreachable Stars, Michael Cavanaugh and Dudu Fisher gracing our stage. We invite all of you to experience this wonderful and exciting 2016-2017 season with us at the Kings Point Theatre! November THE SENSATIONS MOTOWN SHOW Friday, November 4th 8:00pm $11.00 Residents • $16.00 Non-Residents The Sensations is a four man group that will have you believing that The Temptations, The 4 Tops and other Motown legends are in the house. The performance features fantastic vocals and terrific dance routines. They also cover groups like The Drifters, The Coasters, The Miracles and The Platters just to name a few. They did a version of Smokey Robinson’s “Ooo Baby Baby” that was so dead on, that many in the crowd thought that the original recording was being played! AMERICA’S SWEETHEARTS TRIBUTE TO THE ANDREW SISTERS Friday, November 11th 8:00pm $12.00 Residents • $17.00 Non-Residents A swing style female vocal trio performing to the sound of The Andrew Sisters singing tunes from the 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. They perform at military events, air shows and award ceremonies, on cruise ships, parades and at holiday events. Join them on a sentimental journey through the great music of the 30’s and 40’s. They blend beautiful ballads with your favorite toe-tapping tunes, and of course, in classic USO fashion, takes some time to honor our brave men and women in the military. He has had the pleasure to work as a “Duo” with recent Blues Hall of Fame inductee Angel Rissoff doing blue-eyed soul hits by groups like the Righteous Brothers and performs regularly with a group called “The Yester Daze.” In 2012, his latest CD “In Harmony” was met with great success. “This is a labor of love and such a great source of pride.” In Harmony is special because Michael played and sang every part on this CD, which was something he always wanted to do. He continues to strive for perfection in his craft and will always measure his level of success by the number of smiles in his audiences. He will have the audience swaying in their seats and bobbing their heads. A versatile and accomplished entertainer, she is described as a “singer extraordinaire with a comic flair.” Her show is unique, extraordinary and will not be forgotten. With a broad and varied repertoire that includes classics, standards, swing, Broadway, pop, jazz and today’s hits; Robin delivers it all with passion and intensity. Her comedy routines alone provide an amazing evening of entertainment without even singing a note. This lady is a talented artist, songstress and comedian. She takes charge of the audience the moment she walks on stage with her huge amazing voice and stunning presence. With her versatile vocals, she brings passion and beauty to every performance. In a performance review, it was quoted “Safia walked in with class and elegance before even beginning her performance.” Every person in the room was just lost within her performance. Beautiful tones and ranges to her voice were tested by our selection of Classic Opera, Contemporary Italian favorites and other genres.” December NIGHT OF THE LEGENDS DAVID MORIN & RICHARD FRANK Wednesday, December 14th 8:00pm $11.00 Residents • $16.00 Non-Residents David Morin has been getting audiences all shook up for the past five years. This ambitious performer who impersonates Elvis Presley first became enamored with Elvis at age five. With more than 40,000 songs in his catalogue, Morin appears to have something for everyone. To provide his audience with an even bigger variety of entertainment, Morin also does impressions of Dean Martin, Bobby Darin, and Johnny Cash just to name a few. Richard Frank is an accomplished professional, singing his way across the US for many years. He captivated audiences with “A Man and His Music,” a tribute to Frank Sinatra. He continues with his musical tribute to other greats, such as Dean Martin, Tony Bennett and Perry Como, to name a few. TROPICANA EXTRAVAGANZA Sunday, December 18th 2:30pm $11.00 Residents • $16.00 Non-Residents Tropicana Extravaganza is a tribute to two legendary stars of the Golden Era of music “Giovanni and Nina.” Their show concept originated in the Tropicana night club in Cuba with a cabaret style show that featured show girls, dance routines and Latin and Jazz vocalists. This re-creation features stellar performers including Latin Grammy considered Nominee Jessi Campo. We mix the excitement of Latin dance rhythms and the intensity of the Big Band swing music along with some ballads from the Great American Songbook to create the dynamics in this show. This new show features The Latin American Orchestra, which is a 10 piece Latin band outfitted in tropical tuxedos, a female vocalist, our exotic showgirl dancers and amazing tributes honoring the many different stars that performed at the Copacabana. This is a variety show with a mix of Latin dance music and American swing and dance music. Bill Haley’s Original Comets invaded Branson and brought rock and roll along for the ride. YAKOV SMIRNOFF Wednesday, February 15th 8:00pm $20.00 Residents • $25.00 Non-Residents Yakov Naumovich Pokhis, better known as Yakov Smirnoff is a Soviet-born American comedian, actor and writer. After immigrating to the United States in 1977, Smirnoff began performing as a stand-up comic. He eventually gained fame and reached his biggest successes in the mid-to-late 1980’s when he appeared in several films and television shows, including his own 1986-87 sitcom, “What a Country!” His comic persona was of a native immigrant from the Soviet Union who was perpetually confused and delighted about life in the United States. His humor combined a mockery of life under Communism and of consumerism in the United States. A charismatic performer, musician and actor, made famous for his piano/lead vocals in the Broadway Musical Movin’Out. Billy Joel spotted Michael and joined him on stage and it only took two songs before Billy was convinced that he had found his new Piano Man. Michael Cavanaugh was handpicked by Billy Joel to star in the title role and evokes a style reveling the Piano Man. Michael appeared in the show for 3 years and over 1200 performances, receiving accolade after accolade, which culminated in 2003 with both Grammy and Tony award nominations. Michael is one of the hottest artist’s in the corporate/events market. This show is truly an outstanding evening spectacle. Her albums have served to establish her as one of the most compelling singer/songwriters in contemporary music. As an actress, she has appeared on stage, films and TV. Most recently starring on Broadway in La Cage Aux Folles. She first captured theatergoer’s hearts in the 20th anniversary production of My Fair Lady as Eliz Doolittle followed by the revival of Oklahoma! as Laurey and the legendary George Abbott’s On your Toes. She also created the role of Marguerite St Just in The Scarlet Pimpernel and her unanimously praised portrayal of Margaret Johnson in the Tony Award winning musical The Light in the Piazza. Her cabaret appearance in New York’s finest rooms and concerts from the White House to Carnegie Hall continue to win Ms. Andreas critical acclaim both nationally and internationally. She takes songs that are already incendiary and makes them shine that much brighter. Her beauty and radiance remain undimmed.
