Welcome to the new Part-time Prospectus. This year we are offering a
wide range of programmes which include many new courses as well as
some old favourites. I am sure that whether you are looking for some
training to further your career opportunities, or seeking to learn a new

ACCOUNTING
AAT Accounting Level 2 Certificate
Focusing on Purchase and Sales ledgers as well as the preparation
of books for final accounts. Students will also be trained on the use of
basic computing skills including SAGE. Price includes text books. AAT
registration is paid direct to AAT. Interview required.

Your stepping stone to University and a new career!
Access courses are specifically designed for mature students who
would like to progress to University but who have not been in recent
study or have the qualifications for progression. The course will give
you the skills and confidence you will need for Higher Education
study. Access courses are validated by Apt and the vast majority of
students progress successfully to degree level study.
Access to Higher Education Creative Arts
This course is designed to develop your creative potential and
prepare you for progression to a higher level of study at University
or Art College. The course will enable you to gain a broad
understanding of subjects within the art and design framework.
These will include drawing, painting, printmaking, photography,
textiles and will equip you with the opportunity to identify the area of
specialism most tailored to your aspirations and ability. For further

This advanced course covers a wide range of specialist medical
terminology, time management, teamwork, implementing efficient
systems and procedures and development of the practical
skills required to produce appropriate business and medical

Apprenticeships can help all types of businesses train

supported with a comprehensive training programme.
For chefs, software engineers, carpenters, hairdressers,
accountants, digital marketing experts, engineers, teaching
assistants or managers - an Apprenticeship programme can
be delivered at any level up to degree level.
An Apprenticeship programme is a funded training programme
over a minimum of a year for people of all ages giving your
workforce the practical skills and qualifications your organisation
needs now and in the future.
The programme is fully funded for Apprentices aged between 16
and 18. Apprentices aged 19+ require an employer contribution
of £500 or £750 for large organisations. We often have funding
support and financial incentives available to help your business.
There is an Age Grant of £1500* available to employers taking on
an Apprentice between the ages of 16-24 *subject to eligibility.

FACILITIES FOR THE WHOLE COMMUNITY
The redevelopment at Penwith has brought with it huge opportunity for the
development of new courses as well as enhanced facilities for existing courses.
All round, everyone benefits - the students, the staff and the community.
The centre of the campus is an amphitheatre providing space for
students to relax in as well as an outdoor performance area of theatre
and music events produced by College students and visiting arts
groups.
The large Gwenvor building bordering much of the amphitheatre
houses Automotive Engineering facilities including workshops for
fabrication, welding and paintwork. The centre of Gwenvor has a large
open space able to accommodate a two storey house for the new
construction trade courses available at Penwith.
The refurbished Old Grammar School retains much of its original
character whilst housing state of the art facilities for Art and Design,
Photography and Ceramics, in what is now the Nanjizal building.

A Lecture Theatre and Drama Studio, Hairdressing and Beauty
Salons, Training Kitchen and Music Practice Rooms, Recording
Studios and Conference Rooms are all located in the Zennor building.
The Senara Restaurant, open to the public, is also located here.
In the Porthcurno building classrooms and science laboratories border
a large indoor Multi Use Games Area with the state of the art synthetic
turf pitch located close by.
The new buildings take advantage of the wonderful position of the
College, both in terms of proximity to the town centre, transport links
and the fabulous views that the College enjoys over Mounts Bay.

Initial Materials Fee
Where possible the initial
materials fee has been shown.
These are payable even if you
receive free tuition. ALL students
will be required to provide their
own books and materials.
Student Printing
A small print allowance is
available to students. Top-up
vouchers for print are available to
purchase from Resource Centres
and the College Shop.
Refunds
A full refund will only be made if
a class does not start or closes
after one session. After a course
has started, pro-rata refunds
can only be made if you are ill
(medical certificate required) and
all refund requests must be made
in writing to the Principal.
Exams Information
For the majority of qualification
courses, any fees payable
to the Awarding Body for
registration, examination entry
and certification, will be collected
together with the course fee
payable before the start of the
course. Where this is not the
case, the additional payment
due will be stated in the course
description in the part-time
courses brochure. If you are
enrolled on a qualification course,
then provided all fees have been
paid you will automatically be
registered with the awarding body
and entered for any examinations
as appropriate.
If you need to re-take any
examinations in which you are
unsuccessful, you will need to
enter for these separately and
make a re-entry payment to
the examinations office. You
will receive written advance
notification of the arrangements
for formal examinations and
written confirmation of your
results. Certificates will be posted
recorded delivery to the address
as given on your enrolment form,
so please do ensure that any
change in your contact details is
notified to the part-time courses
