Sunday, March 13, 2016, 2:00-3:00 pm Hollywood vs. Faith An honest and very funny look at the story that most Americans are actually living…our struggle to live faithfully in the media age…filled with stories from Frank’s own life, and ending with a call not to believe in the media wizards quite so much, but rather, come to know the joy of truly being a People of Light! Frank Runyeon admits he has always felt torn between the world of the media and the world of faith. He thinks much of America is. We go from our TV to church, and then back to our TV (or laptop or smartphone). We want to live in both worlds. But is that really possible? Sunday, March 13, 2016, 7:00-8:15 pm SIGNS: The Gospel of John All the drama and power of this beloved Gospel are brought to life in a spellbinding performance. From the wedding at Cana to the raising of Lazarus… Signs of astonishing power…and a call to deeper faith. SIGNS is a one-man play, staged with dramatic lighting and entertaining audience interaction. It’s text is the first eleven chapters of the Gospel of John, translated into contemporary American speech. Monday, March 14, 2016, 4:30-5:45 pm Salt & Light Performance "An actor's day in Hollywood starts just like yours: We get a sheet of paper with new words on it! But often, we don't understand what those words mean... so we have coaches to help us. Will you be my Hollywood coach today?" So begins a fun adventure for kids into the best script of all: "Script-ure!" Monday, March 14, 2016, 7:00-8:15 pm Luke: Stories on the Road He began to speak by telling stories…a rich man and a poor man…a woman with a coin…a father with two sons…a traveler on the road. Stories none of them would ever forget. Then why couldn’t they hear what he was really saying? In an evening that is both entertaining and eye-opening, Runyeon performs the famous parables in Luke's travel narrative, and then pauses to reflect on how we hear each story--and miss what it is really saying. ** All performances will be held in the Church. ** LENTEN PARISH MISSION The Church of St. Catharine is proud to welcome: Frank Runyeon, Actor and Evangelist Frank Runyeon has won national acclaim for his work as a translator and performer of Biblical texts over the past 20 years. There was growing tension in Jerusalem, between Jewish “Christians” who thought Jesus was the Messiah, and their friends who did not. Christians had been promised “joy!” They had been promised “a new life!” They had problems—problems not unlike our own. Finally Jesus’ relative James, came to speak to them, and the drama began. ** All performances will be held in the Church. **
