“THE HOT SEAT”
Hello members of Chapter “T”.
Let’s all give it up for our Asst. Chapter Directors Bob & Carolyn
Short for stepping in and doing an awesome job while me & Janet
were on vacation in Florida. WAY TO GO GUYS!!!!!
Our trip to Daytona Bike Week was great. There is sooooo much to
do and see it’s unbelievable. The weather was just great. We had no
rain for our 3 week trip to the sunshine state. The temps. Were between 70 and 90 degrees out whole trip. After attending bike week
we toured the east coast of Florida from Daytona to the gulf coast of
Clearwater Beach and made many stops in between. We put 1,686
miles on the bike in those 3 weeks. Needless to say we did not want
to leave.
For those of you that don’t know, we have changed our meeting
place. Our gatherings will now be held at Mostoller’s Restaurant
1207 Stoystown Road Friedens, Pa. 15541. The day and time will remain the same as in the past. After speaking with Lloyd the owner I
think that they will be willing to help us out anyway they can.
Don’t forget to check the Chapter Events Schedule for our upcoming events in April.
Hope to see a good turnout for our new gathering place on April
8th for the gathering at 6pm.
“Keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down.”

Chapter T Couple of the year
Bob and Carolyn Short
Hi everyone,
Well, we made it through our first gathering and hopefully no one quit the
chapter. We would like to thank everyone for helping us out. Since we accepted the position of Assistant Chapter Director in February, Randy decided to get
our feet wet right away. We will be really glad to see Randy and Janet return to
run the gatherings.
This has been a busy month for us, between my doctor appointments and us
trying to get ready for camping season it has been run, run every day. With two
trailers to get ready it takes some coordination knowing what belongs in what
place. We are looking forward to camping with everyone who is attending
River’s Edge, All Chapters East and West. It’s not too late to make your reservation, if you need information just give us a call.
Saw this on facebook and thought it was cool. I wish we could purchase one.
Just think no more Pa pot holes, slick wet roads, or gravel roads to worry about.

News Flash. . . Ice Cream Station in Berlin opens on April 22!!!!!!!
GETTING INTO SHAPE. . . How Motorcycle Riding Improves Physical Health!
The bottom line is that riding a motorcycle is a form of low-impact exercise that improves muscle tone, can assist with weight loss, and has a multitude of health benefits. Motorcycle riders usually report returning from a ride feeling energized and happy. Riding a motorcycle has a wonderful way of releasing endorphins that serve to
boost mood and improve outlook. The time spent on a bike also provides valuable
sun exposure, known to increase Vitamin D levels which are known to be powerful
mood enhancers.
Increased insulin sensitivity: Because riding a motorcycle is a low-impact form of
exercise, people who ride have improved insulin sensitivity for up to eight hours after
a ride. Having improved insulin sensitivity means your body will produce less insulin
to counteract carbohydrates or to lower blood sugars. (especially while eating ICE
CREAM!!)
Calorie burning: Riding a bike burns calories. Period. Getting everything ready for
a ride takes time and burns calories, but there’s more. Think about it … it requires effort while riding to maintain balance, shift, brake, control the clutch, battle headwinds, etc. Riding into a headwind burns a significant amount of calories as your
body tenses muscles to fight the wind and stay on the bike. This constant resistance
exercise not only burns calories, but serves to strengthen core and neck muscles,
which ultimately increases your metabolism. Additionally, the physical effort exerted
while turning, especially at higher speeds, can be significant.
Don’t forget last month’s T-CLOC training. AND, it is only April. . . there is still
gravel, potholes, weather conditions that could present potential danger for the motorcyclist. Even though people are more aware because more bikes are out, make eye
contact at stop signs and lights so you know they know you are there!

schedules it will be a last minute thing..

Now is the time of year when the grass is turning green, daffodils are blooming, and there are
beginning to be more warm days than cold days. Everyone is getting the bug to hop on their
wings and start riding. Some of you have already had their wings on the road. I hope everyone
is careful because there are some roads with salt and gravel still on them and it doesn’t take
much to throw the bike into a slide.
Andi and I have visited a couple chapters recently and they talked about all the rides they are
planning. Make sure you go onto the district website a www.codynparker.com and check out
the ride schedules for all of the chapters. There just may be one that would peak your interest.
If you don't have your ride schedule on your website, make sure you get it out there. This is a
great way for other chapters to see what's happening throughout the district. Riding with another chapter is great way to meet other members and make more friends.
We attended the Couple of the Year retreat in Duncansville in March. We are proud to say that
20 chapters out of 21 has a Couple of the Year. Not every couple was able to attend the retreat
but those that did attend said it was very helpful and informative.
The PA District Rally in State College is getting closer. We hope you made your hotel reservations and sent in your registrations. We will have approximately 8-10 vendors both indoor and
outdoor vendors. There will also be a jewelry and embroidery vendor plus a seminar on how
to make jewelry. Along with games and rides, it promises to be a fun time for everyone. Now
we need Mother Nature to cooperate. I know I am getting hungry for some Penn State Creamery ice cream.
Hope everyone is working on selling the district raffle tickets. We have already received some
sold tickets returned to us. Thank you to all who have sold tickets. This is a good way to make
some extra money for your chapter.
Andi and I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Chapter PA-V for being selected PA District Chapter of the Year. PA-V has been selected Chapter of the Year previously
and they said that going through the process has made them a strong chapter. This may be
something your chapter may consider doing. I'm sure if you look at the Chapter of the Year
guidebook you will see that the some of the requirements are things that your chapter is already doing. We had six chapters compete for the Chapter of the Year award. They were
Chapters B, D, H, I, M, V. That is a good number of chapters but it would be even better to
have every chapter in the state participate. This year the point standing was really close. We
had less than 100 points separated the six chapters.
We are anxious to see everyone at the District meeting on April 9th at the Blue Knob Conference Center.

An 80-year-old man goes to the doctor's for a physical.
The doctor runs some tests and says to the man, ''Well,
everything seems to be in top condition physically, but
what about mentally? How is your connection with God?''
And the man says, ''Oh me and God? We're tight. We have
a real bond, he's good to me. Every night when I have to
get up to go to the bathroom, he turns on the light for me,
and then, when I leave, he turns it back off.'' Well, upon
hearing this the doctor was astonished. He called the
man's wife and said, ''I'd like to speak to you about your
husband's connection with God. He claims that every
night when he needs to use the restroom, God turns on
the light for him and turns it off for him again when he
leaves. Is this true?'' And she says, ''That idiot, he's been
peeing in the fridge!''
