Dr. Pegus will speak on the importance of new companies to gain user experience, show statistical improvements in outcomes, and successfully collaborate in order to increase investor interest. Cheryl Pegus, MD, MPH, is the Director, Division of General Internal Medicine and Clinical Innovation, Associate Chair, Clinical Innovation at NYU Langone Medical Center and Clinical Professor of Medicine and Population health at NYU School of Medicine. She is the President of Caluent, LLC, a private equity advisory company, a Director of privately held Glytec, LLC and a Director of Cogentix Medical (NSDQ: CGNT). 10:30 AM PROVIDER MOMENTUM: MAKE SURE THE DOCTOR IS IN Getting the first physician, nurse, PT or allied health professionals as early adopters and experts is key. A great pilot is one of the best ways to achieve early revenue and get expert feedback from real users for whom you are solving a real problem. They can also act as distribution channels for your solution. Dr. Wen Dombrowski, MD, MBA is a geriatrics physician executive that develops technology and business solutions to help vulnerable populations with complex medical and social needs — including older adults, people with disabilities, and the urban poor. Dr. Dombrowski is NSLIJ Care Solutions’ liaison to stakeholders and initiatives related to informatics, telehealth, clinical call center, and digital strategy. @HealthcareWen 11:45 AM @AmyCueva 2:45 PM @ReginaHolliday 4:00 PM @PFrishauf DESIGN MOMENTUM: EMPATHY AS OUR GUIDE Empathy inspired design can guide us in our mission to envision better health experiences and make the changes necessary to bring those experiences to life. This presentation will explore how empathy inspires our individual path, enables us to create meaningful solutions for the people we serve, and helps us to improve clinical and business outcomes and affect change at the societal level. Proof points which express the value of design and empathy, examples of companies adopting human centered design, and methods for integrating empathy into an organization will be shared. Amy Cueva the founder, chief experience officer, and healthcare principal at Mad*Pow, a design agency focused on improving the experiences people have with organizations, technology, and each other. PATIENT MOMENTUM: WHERE THE WAVE BEGINS Changing healthcare with innovation is not easy. Many of us find ourselves compelled to create new solutions to fix what is broken starting from the role of a patient or someone who has lost someone close to them. Regina Holliday began her journey when she lost her husband Fred Holliday to cancer. During his illness she and Fred experienced a great number of issues with our health system. In her grief she began painting Fred’s story. To date she has painted over 300 patient stories and those of innovators seeking to drive change. She has addressed congress and been invited to the White House numerous times to discuss what can be done to improve the healthcare experience and has become one of the leading advocate of patient-centered change in the world.. Mentor to MedStartr and three time crowdfunding success, Regina is an inspiration to us all and will talk about the power of patients to affect positive change in healthcare. INVESTOR MOMENTUM: MOMENTUM MEASURED No one knows better the path of the innovator and investor than Peter Frishauf. Serial healthcare entrepreneur, investor, and activist for change, Peter will share his thoughts on the day and what makes for the ultimate goal of healthcare innovators, achieving sustainable change. Peter is best known as the founder of MedScape and currently serves as the Director of Context Matters, a next generation data platform that takes a sophisticated, data driven, and business-minded approach to take time and risk out of the drug development process. He also serves on Various Boards including the Health Advisory Board at Everyday Health.
