A
fter spending quite a few years in the Middle East, Ramadan has be-
come one of my favorite annual events and my lifestyle is also naturally adjusted to accommodate this particular season of the year.
Of course, Ramadan has particular religious meaning for Muslim people. I
also recently learnt that Ramadan is another opportunity for Muslim families to re-strengthen their family ties by spending various rituals together
during this season.
Part of Ramadan tradition is Iftar which is the breaking of the fast. Last
19th July 2014 Chiyoda Almana organized an Iftar Party at Four Seasons
Hotel for its Management and employees. It was another good opportunity

 For Qatar Shell GTL, a total of 46 active awarded projects
portfolio as of August, with various Small, Medium and Large
sized projects. The major targets of the Shell Project are the
successful executions of the 1st Major Turn Around scheduled
on 15 Feb 2015 and the 2nd Major Turn Around in Feb 2016.
 Recently, we completed the QAFAC Methanol Converter EPC
lump sum project successfully ahead of schedule, and supported QAFAC pre-shut down projects.

 For ADGAS, received Consultancy Services for “LNG/LPG
tank PSV & VSV replacement Project”.
We have almost completed half of this fiscal year 2014 (from April)
quite successfully. I would like to thank you again for the successes at
Chiyoda Almana and the very strong performance conducted so far. I
hope that we will continue and further improve our performance for the
remainder of the year. On this occasion I would like to share some
topics and the latest status of Chiyoda Almana with all of you.
Safety Safety is always the most important thing for us, since we are proud of
being the No.1 Brownfield Engineering Contractor with our remarkable HSE achievements in brown-field. As of the 10th of July we have
knocked the bell of 15 Million site Man-hours without a LTI. This tremendous achievement in brown field reflects the excellent HSE commitment by senior management and team spirit of every individual
Chiyoda-Almana staff member involved. In addition, we achieved 10
Million Site Man-hours without a LTI for RasGas LT EPCM (OPD &
PMT) on 5th of June, and also highly recognize for its excellent contribution in RasGas OPD’s Biggest Milestone of 25 Million Man-hours
LTI Free in May.
Also, the Safe and Successful execution of QAFAC, RasGas & Qatargas Scheduled & Emergency Shutdown activities without recordable
incident is much appreciated.
Increase in employee number As of the 31st August, we have 751 employees. Please note that we
were 581 employees last year. It’s quite a rapid increase. That’s because
we have created new jobs from highly promising business segments.
We shall continue to improve our structure with our eyes firmly on the
future. We are committed to keep approaching the structural changes
necessitated by our projects and business volume.
Cost Reduction and Strategic Budget Allocation With all of your recognition and daily effort, our Non-Billable MH
control has been better than before. We shall now move to the next
target which is to reduce “In-direct Cost”.
This is very important at this moment, when our employees’ number is
increasing drastically. Chiyoda Almana Management is requesting all
employees to share their ideas, suggestions or thoughts of cost reduction plans. However, not only the cost cut, but “Strategic Budget Allocation Plan” is also requested. We encourage our employees to work on
developing these plans either individually or in teams. Please remember
that this will bring BIG benefit for Chiyoda Almana.
Job Status We have made outstanding achievements and continued good performances for various project executions in 2014. Here are some highlights which I am proud to report:
 RG appreciated us for successfully executing 3 shutdown projects ahead of schedule in a safely manner, and also for our
urgent support to RasGas during their emergency shutdown.
 The RG FAP is a very important high profile EPC Lump-sum
project for Qatar, which now enters the construction phase of
the project and is well on track.
 For QG, we were awarded the Flare Reduction FEED and
Study Project in February 2014. This project is related to the
Qatar environment regulation which requires that, from 2017,
all Qatar End user’s flaring shall be less than half the capacity
of 2008.
Freshmen & Ladies and CGH Young Engineers In July, 11 CGH freshmen and ladies came to Chiyoda Almana to take
part in the annual CGH new members training. In addition to this, CGH
Top management decided to assign many CGH young engineers to
work at Chiyoda Almana from this year, since Chiyoda Almana has
been well recognized as a leading Company of Chiyoda Global Operation. Please give them your full support and our Chiyoda Almana hospitality.
As we move towards the second half of the year, let us be conscious of
our individual and department’s objectives for this year and work as a
team towards achieving them.
 We were also recently awarded the Vibration Service Program
Project .This is a new type of project in brown-field business.
The team member includes Xodus vibration specialist working
in QG office to assess the integrity of the piping system against
3 GLOBAL HR—CHIYODA’S GLOBALIZATION PROGRAMME For the past year, we have been talking about Chiyoda’s Globalization Programme as Chiyoda’s work portfolio
expands outside of its traditional base in Yokohama. As we are achieving strong growth here at Chiyoda Almana, other offices are also growing in size and venturing into new areas for Chiyoda such as Chiyoda International Corporation (CIC) based in Houston, Chiyoda Oceania Pte Limited (COPL) in Australia and Chiyoda CCC Engineering Limited (CCEL) in Abu Dhabi. This expansion brings new challenges to Chiyoda in how we work and
how we interact with other Chiyoda Group companies within the Chiyoda network.
The Chiyoda Globalization Programme focuses on three key areas,
1. Business Development, 2. Project Management and last 3. Global HR. It is no. 3 I will talk about here.
Global Human Resources:
Where are we now?
In the last year and a half, much work has been going on behind the scenes to develop a Global HR Framework for
Chiyoda. As a result, two operational centres are being formed. The first in Singapore which will be called Chiyoda
Human Resources International (CHI) which was launched on 1st July 2014 and the second centre will be formed in

The old organization of Singapore Human Resources (SHR) will be absorbed into CHI. However, the new HR Shared
Service will provide a comprehensive HR function to all Chiyoda’s international offices.
4 What are the key priorities?  To develop a standard consistent Chiyoda brand, no matter what office or project you are working in.
 To facilitate the movement of employees around the Chiyoda organisations
 To meet the business needs of Chiyoda and provide opportunities for employees to grow within the group
 To develop Chiyoda leaders of tomorrow based on ability and potential
 To achieve a Career Development Programme that is both office specific and international in scope
 To develop a Reward Framework which is cost effective for Chiyoda to compete and also recognises employee
contributions to Chiyoda’s success
 To implement a company with Human Resources Management System, to provide up to date information to Management and Employees to underpin the other objectives.
(They are many more activities but they will be announced as the Global HR Programme is developed)
What happens next? The new HR Company, CHI, went live on 1st July 2014 and the recruitment of HR professionals who are experts in the field of
International HR is on going, with all key figures due to be in place by September 2014.
The key priorities have been defined and the actions plans are now in place to start delivery. Some employees at Chiyoda Almana will be asked to assist in some of the programmes as it is important to use the knowledge of our existing employees as
well as having their agreement on the way forward in their specialist areas.
What we will also notice initially as a company is a greater exchange of ideas and people across Chiyoda companies, which has
already begun between Chiyoda Almana and CPh especially. Later as the programme develops you will see more initiatives
bringing the various Chiyoda Offices and Projects closer together to create a truly unified international company.
5 CONGRATULATIONS to all for another r emar kable accomplishment. Thr ough our dedication &
team work we wer e able to complete safely & successfully the RasGas Tr ain 1, 2 & 5 Scheduled &
Emergency Shutdown projects. Also, I’m very proud to share that on the 5th of June 2014, Chiyoda Almana
achieved 10 Million Site Man-hours without a Lost Time Incident (LTI) under RasGas Long Term EPCM
Projects (OPD & PMT), which is a major achievement in brown field jobs.
We are now stepping into the preparation stage for new projects including RasGas Train 6 Shutdown. Our
achievements give us the confidence to face new challenges. Even in our fifth year and we are executing the
same types of job, but each job is a new challenge to us. Let us focus by maintaining our strong commitment to safety, sharing the lessons learned from previous Shutdown activities & emphasize on continuous
improvement program. The momentum must be continued and there is no room for complacency, enforcing
our safety system with more vigilance. We should always lead from the front as the EPCM contractor. Let us be proactive to meet
our target. “Success always resulted through hard work; there is no shortcut to reach there’’.
The Holy Month of Ramadan has just finished but the Summer Season is still in full swing. We are happy about the positive results and
cooperation by all members to our Ramadan Safety Awareness & Driving Safety. This time we are also continuously monitoring the ongoing full enforcement of our Heat Stress Prevention Program.
Situational awareness: Recent statistics r elated to our site obser vations r eveal that most of the accidents and injuries are happening due to the simple negligence of people involved. Below are some helpful
reminders to avoid these incidents:
1. Procedures are an integral part of our Safety and Operational management systems and shall be adhered to
at all times.
2. Utilize the fundamentals of the Hierarchy of Controls.
3. Always select the right tool for the job being performed.
4. Take the time to do your ‘JSA’ and ‘LMRA – Take 5’ properly.
5. Check for hidden/inherent hazards in your work area.
6. Avoid placing one’s self or others in the “Line of Fire”.
7. Carry your PPE with you at all times and wear the correct one for the task,
8. Don’t become complacent with your everyday tasks and activities, take the time to ensure you identified all hazards and are adequately
protected.
9. Your hands are the most valuable tools you own, so take care of them, every time! – Every day!
Remember – You always have the opportunity to make things better. If in doubt, STOP WORK
and seek clarification from your immediate Supervisor!
6 HSE DEPARTMENT Risk Factors for Heart Disease Family history - The risk is higher if any of your immediate relatives have had a heart
attack history.
Diabetes - People with diabetes have a higher risk of suffering CHD or stroke. It is a
metabolic disorder that results in insulin resistance. And insulin resistance is linked to a
lot of other factors like obesity, high cholesterol and hypertension which individually
contribute to increasing the risk of heart disease
Hypertension means increased blood pressure on the walls of the arteries. If not controlled properly, this increased pressure can cause thickening of the blood vessels. Thickened blood vessels along with high cholesterol levels can lead to hypertensive heart disease like coronary artery disease, heart failure and thickening of heart muscle.
High cholesterol - When the level of bad cholesterol (LDL) is high, cholesterol gets deposited on the walls of the arteries. This blocks
the arteries and restricts the blood flow resulting in heart disease. High triglyceride level: While considering the lifetime risk of heart
disease most heart disease guidelines do not take into account high levels of triglycerides. A ratio of triglycerides to good cholesterol
(HDL) should be considered to determine the overall risk of heart disease for an individual.
Smoking - If you smoke you’re twice as likely to suffer from heart disease than people who don’t smoke. It affects the levels of cholesterol and causes narrowing down of the blood vessels, therefore contributing to plaque deposition. It damages walls of the arteries, raises blood pressure and reduces Good cholesterol (HDL) levels. It also causes blood clots by aggregating platelets at the site of damage.
Stress - Chronic stress is a main cause of depression, a psychosocial factor known to contribute to heart disease. Stress results in hormonal imbalance that causes fluctuations in blood pressure. Stress is also responsible for forcing individuals to unhealthy practices like
smoking and alcoholism.
I
t is only with healthy eating habits and active lifestyle that you can manage the biggest risk factors of
heart disease mentioned above. So, exercise regularly, eat stay fit, quit smoking and drinking and
lead a stress-free life.
Heart disease, being a lifestyle related disorder, can be prevented well in time by making small corrections in daily life.

7 First Half Year report It has been a very busy Q1 and Q2 in 2014 as we have seen many challenging projects being either tendered and/or executed in the different
project teams we have in all our client accounts.
To summarize the highlights…….
RasGas Long Term EPCm Project Portfolio
In RasGas account, we have received since the
beginning of the year, 16 new Requests For Services (153-139) projects. Apart from the usual
Study- FEED-EPCm type of projects, the highlights during this period were the safe and successful execution of 3 emergency Shut Down
Projects. For LNG Train #5 shutdown, we supported RasGas in changing a Mixed Refrigerant
Compressor rotor in the very short time of 14
days.

Moreover due to several incidents at LNG
Trains #1 and #2, we had to modify the pipeline
systems before these trains could be commissioned again. In all these 3 emergency projects,
our project teams consisting of staff members
from the project management, construction, procurement, contract administration, engineering,
QA/QC, HSE, project controls and HR&A departments worked shoulder to shoulder and in a
24/7 round-the-clock schedule, with our construction subcontractors and our client teams, to
deliver these projects with an excellent and
world class performance with no Lost Time Inci-
dents or Quality flaws.
The new RasGas Operation Project Manager Mr. Khalid commented: “Excellent Team Work, a job well done”.
Moreover the team is fully involved in bidding for the next LT EPCm contract, while the current contract is extended to the
1st of March 2015 with an option for further extension up to the 1st of March 2016 for the completion of a small number of
projects.
——————————————-RasGas Flow Assurance Project—————————————
This stand-alone Lump Sum EPC project has evolved from the Engineering and Procurement phase towards the construction
phase. The Engineering is nearing completion and the release of Approved For Construction drawings is ongoing.
Most of the project materials have been bought and are being shipped to site as the Temporary Site Facilities have been erected and staff are being mobilized to site.
After the Ramadan period almost the complete EPC team including the construction contractors and the client teams will be
based on site to deliver the project flawless, in time and within the budget and hopefully without a lost time incident as “goal
zero” is our target.
8 QATARGAS PORTFOLIO
In Qatargas, we bid the EPC LS Waste Water Recovery Project. Although we had high hopes to win this project, we lost it unfortunately
to the competition.
The strategic Option Engineering Services for Feasibility, Select, Define and Limited Execute Phases for QG2 & QG3&4 Flare Reduction Project, however, was awarded to us as well as the Vibration Assessment and Mitigation Program which is a new type of project in
brown field business. In this project our team member including Xodus vibration specialist work in client office to assess the integrity of
the piping system in all QG assets against vibration. We can go inside the client more deeply and develop a good relationship as a business partner through contribution to daily O&M work
OTHER ACCOUNTS (RLOC/Q-CHEM/QAFAC)
Highlight in this account is the Methanol Converter Revamp Project which has been executed in a plant shutdown. Our team together
with construction contractor (DESCON) and specialist subcontractor for the reactor internals modification (APB) did a great job.
The project was completed 2 days ahead of schedule with no quality flaws and zero Lost Time Incidents. This was a major achievement,
highly appreciated by our client, QAFAC .
WORK AND PLAY
Thursday, 8th May’14 evening, the project team members gathered to celebrate their team building party for the first time at Doha
Bowling Center.
The event started with the toast & a brief objective of the team building party. Mr. John Mooren, PMUM, shared the upcoming and
ongoing project details, followed by Mr. Shafir’s explanation with regard to safety tips and bowling rules.
The team members were divided into 12 groups, each group consisting of 5 Members each. It was a very tight game and everybody gave
their maximum effort to win the game. Finally Takeuchi san’s team won the game (team members included Takeuchi, Mariane, Mukkund, Santosh & Shihabudheen). Mr. Mukkund Mohan was selected as the best individual bowler of the game. Winners were awarded
with Lulu gift vouchers.
The event was full of fun and everybody shared their moments of joy with their counterparts, taking photographs, sharing their past experiences with their line managers, and enjoying the game experience. The one hour bowling game was followed with a dinner party.
This was a great experience for all the project team members as they got a chance to know each other which will certainly help in building a strong interrelationship and developing a strong bond among the employees.

May 2013 to conduct Engineering and Project Management
services at Pearl Gas-To-Liquids Plant, the word’s largest and
most innovative GTL facility, jointly developed by Qatar Petroleum and Shell. The contract covers Front End Engineering and
Design (FEED) and Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) activities for brown-field projects
designed to deliver asset integrity, growth and development
projects.
Material Management Team The Shell Task Force has really grown since its inception and
has a portfolio of approximately 46 projects in different stages
of development in hand. Not only the engineering and procurement activities on these projects increased this year, also the site
construction activities are coming up to speed.
Engineering Leads Everyone in the 200 member Task Force is focused on flawless
project delivery especially with the forthcoming Major Turn
Around in Q1 2015, as all tie-in and other projects like the Boiler Project and Permanent Bundle Cleaning Yard Project have to
be completed by the year’s end.
I’m proud to highlight that in April 2014, we launched our
Monthly Newsletter for Shell Project. The Newsletter features
our group’s achievements, our challenges, current/future events.
It will also inform the readers of our project status and different
department updates.
Management Safety Walkthrough 10 A Success Story – QAFAC Methanol EPC Project By: Anup Purushottam Rajurkar The Methanol Converter Revamp Project was executed in a plant shutdown. Our team, together with construction contractor DESCON and specialist
subcontractor for the reactor internals modification APB, did a great job.
The project was completed two days ahead of schedule with no quality flaws and zero Lost Time Incidents. A major achievement which was highly appreciated by QAFAC the client.
The success has come through genuine team spirit. Every team member has participated, giving his best efforts to achieve PROJECT SUCCESS OBJECTIVES which were established at the beginning of the project.

Project success drives were identified and various collective efforts have been taken to achieve the same. Below mentioned are a few attributes out of
many.
 Long Lead Items were ordered in the record time of two weeks.
 Large bore Piping and Fitting were ordered as per schedule. This was a calculated risk as we were awaiting Licensor’s approved drawings.
 Large bore and heavy wall thickness piping work of various steel grades have been constructed during the scheduled shutdown window.
 Advance NDT techniques like PAUT & TOFD with multilayer verifications has been used in this project. This is perhaps first time in QATAR such NDT techniques were used in large scale.
 The existing five bed Isothermal Reactor internals ( 24 M high & 6 M Dia) have been replaced with Adiabatic Radial type plate heat exchanges & collectors. Special radial scaffoldings were designed and manufactured for this job.
 Various project management concepts like Value Engineering, Technical Integrity Checks, Risk Identification & Mitigation Plan, Schedule
Integrity, Planning and Control, SWOT Analysis, Why-Why & What Can Go Wrong – Brain Storming sessions, Interface & SYMOPS
Management, Team Building etc. have been exercised during the project cycle.

HEARTBLEED There was a recent case of information security called “Heartbleed Bug” last April 2014. This is a serious vulnerability in the popular OpenSSL cryptographic software library. This weakness allows stealing protected information when users are using internet applications such as web, e-mail, instant messaging and some virtual private
networks (VPNs). This means the thief can specifically exploit the open vulnerability to steal your email password, eavesdrop your internet communication or to impersonate services and users. Among famous service providers there are Yahoo and Facebook, but now they have fixed the vulnerability. After the service provider fixed
their system, there is one more thing to do; it is you the user that needs to change your password urgently.
PASSWORD (OR BETTER, PASSPHRASE) How to make a good passphrase………. There are at least 3 aspects for a good passphrase: length, complexity, and easy to remember (good passphrase is of no use
if you forget it, eh???
 Password length: make a password with minimum 8 characters length.
 Password complexity: include at least 3 types of the following groups, lowercase alphabet [a-z], uppercase al-
phabet [A-Z], numbers [0-9], special characters [!@#$%^&*()_+~`\’;:”|/.,<>?{}]
 Easy to remember: why not try to make a sentence? Like “Today is 40 centigrade HOT!”
By using a good combination of length and complexity, you can avoid a brute force attack from a cybercriminal;
this is an attempt to try all possible password combination.

The
course was IRCA (International Register of Certificated Auditors) certified and was conducted on 16-19 March 2014, followed by a
written exam on 20 March 2014. The instructor was Waqas Awan of SGS. Thanks to our HR and Admin team for providing excellent
support for the arrangement of the course.
As a result, Chiyoda Almana now has ISMS lead auditors. There are 3 of them (in alphabetical order): Mochamad Riza Achrullah
(from IS&T Department), Pam Hartanto (from IS&T Department) and Oscar Puao Presnilla Jr. (from HR Department).
Starting from April 2014, internal ISMS audits have been conducted by a team consisting of one lead auditor and the others as audit
team members (including Azhar from IS&T and Jaymar from QA/QC who also attended the course). With this new ISMS Audit Team,
we expect to have more effective and objective audits in our organization.
14 Rasgas Shut Down Party—2014
Chiyoda Almana RG EPCm Team organized a shutdown party to celebrate successful completion of all shut down projects under RG
EPCm on the eve of Thursday, 15 May 2014 in the open yard of Al Khor Compound Villa.
Even though some activities related to the execution phase of the shutdown projects were unexpectedly extended, which made some of our
employees continue their night shifts, the available team members made the evening a remarkable one with team spirit, enthusiasm and
fun. The noteworthy presence of Messrs. John Mooren, Simeon Pagdanganan, Sureshkumar, Aladin Bautista, Takeuchi, Mansoor and
many Managers and guests from our sub-contractors, CCTJV and DESCON made a glitter to the event. A scintillating musical treat by our
Riyas and Naeem with participation of light and sound support by M/S. Doha Dynamic Sounds (DDS) was very much enjoyed by the audience, thanks to the sparkling guitar and vocal treat by our CCIC team mate Kabayan. A team of seven members under the leadership of our
Mahesh performed a traditional dance of Kerala (India) which was a visual treat for the audience comprising of multiple nationalities. Programs and felicitations gave way to a rich and varied buffet dinner when opened, with the stage still in run with music and dance.
Plaques, recognizing the outstanding support and performance during the execution of shutdown projects were awarded to senior representatives from CCTJV and DESCON, by Mr. John Mooren and Mr. Simeon Pagdanganan. Mr. Hariharan (Electrical supervisor) and Mr.
Askar Ali of Chiyoda Almana were selected and rewarded with ‘safe employee and safe driver awards’ respectively. Special gifts were
distributed off to as many as twenty three (23) plus attendees against a raffle draw conducted among the attendees from Chiyoda Almana.
Shut down souvenir (T-Shirt labeled with Chiyoda Almana logo) was distributed earlier to around 150 employees of Chiyoda Almana who
were actively or passively involved in the shutdown projects.
Earlier, during his welcome speech, Mr. Sureshkumar (RG Site Construction Manager) recollected the stressful moments from the longest
and most tedious shut down season in the history of Chiyoda Almana. It was a mix of planned and unplanned shutdown activities, within
and outside the scope of Chiyoda Almana, during the period from 28 March to 27 May 2014, with shutdown projects evolving one after the
other. Chiyoda Almana was challenged with scarcity of resources, tight and narrow schedules and lack of planning time. But with the dedication and ownership of our employees, coupled with the strong guidance from Management and proactive support from subcontractors,
Chiyoda Almana could come out with flying colors in the series of shut downs in this season. He dedicated the success to the crew of
Chiyoda Almana and subcontractors, who worked round the clock for the shutdown.
Mr. John Mooren, RGEPCm Project Director and Project Unit Manager, in his introductory words, praised Chiyoda Almana and subcontractor personnel for their extraordinary tenacity, persistence, safety, schedule and quality consciousness during the extraordinarily long
shut down activities. In Tr-1 & 2 DLN projects and two emergency shutdown projects (RFS148 & RFS 149), CCTJV had done an exemplarily job with a crew of 572 in its peak. The largest DLN project in the history of RasGas was successfully, safely and timely completed
by CCTJV, under the supervision of Chiyoda Almana. He gave all praises to CCTJV for their sudden response on the mobilization on the
emergency jobs (modification of 12” regeneration line after flange leakage and small fires). He mentioned the appreciation of Chiyoda
Almana and RasGas to DESCON for their prompt response on the emergency shutdown of the MR Compressor rotor replacement job. “In
all three LNG trains, the timely and safely completion of CEMS (Continuous Emission Monitoring System) projects, with a peak crew
strength of 462 members, with several interfaces with other contractors in the S/D’s and SIMOPS was due to good team work and well
understanding of the scope by the team. The scaffolding works on the stacks (both inside and outside) was really crucial for the success of
the projects. DESCON’s approach to accommodate changes during project delivery is noted with appreciation.”, according to Mr. John
Mooren.
Altogether, it was an evening of Infotainment and a real experience to the attendees.
15 Invitational Ramadan League Chiyoda Almana Volleyball Team participated in the Invitational Ramadan League held last 6th – 10th of July 2014 at the Aspire’s Ladies
Sports Hall, organized by the Qatar Women’s Sports Committee of the
Ramadan Sports Festival. The event was sponsored by Sports Corner in
celebration of “Ramadan”.
Ten (10) teams were divided into two brackets. Bracket A consistsed of
Elite, Lusail, Bebots, Survivors and QPM; and Bracket B included
Aktor, Ball Buster, Qatar Nights, Al Shullh and Chiyoda Almana.
CHIYODA ALMANA Volleyball Team won the Fir st Game (7th of
July) against the QATAR NIGHTS team in only 2 sets, then overpowered longtime rival AKTOR in the semi-final on July 9, 2014. The
game was excitingly fought. CHIYODA ALMANA team trounced the
opponent in the first set scoring 25 points against AKTOR’s 12 points.
The second set saw AKTOR rallying late in the contest but CHIYODA
ALMANA held on to win the second and final set with the scor e 25
– 20.
The championship game was played between CHIYODA ALMANA
and QPM on July 10, 2014. Led by the team captain/spiker Estrella
“Baby” Lopez with its members; Chai Arceo, Joy Marie Aclan, Ella
Jean, Ruby Maata, Katherine Claire Bulatao, Kring Ong, Sheryl
Cacapit, Patricia Ruiz, Irma Rosales and Mitzi Flores under the watchful eye and vigilant guidance and trainings of their coaches Mark
Bagnes and Rainier Damiar the CHIYODA ALMANA team defeated
QPM team, scor ing 25 - 16 (1st Set) and 25 - 20 on the (2nd set), winning them the much coveted CHAMPIONSHIP in Women’s Volleyball
Division for Ramadan Sports Festival.
Chiyoda Volleybelles were elated to win the 1st place (Champion) for
this year. The team managers, our very own HR Specialist, Mr. John
Mcternan, and Seiichiro Togashi—Project Manager, have supported the
team all the way and have been very proud of the ladies’ achievement.
Congratulations to the whole Chiyoda Almana Volleyball Team for
doing very well and for giving out their bests in the tournament..

16 —————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— 5th Inter‐Company Basketball Cup ——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————‐ Chiyoda Almana Basketball team recently joined the 5th InterCompany Basketball Cup that was held from June 27 to August
29, 2014 at Al Wakrah Independent School for Boys in Al
Wakrah, Qatar.
The tournament was composed of Eight (8) Company Teams
such as Chiyoda Almana, Al-Emadi, Ooredoo, Hyder, Ashgal,
Man Enterprise, Security-Safety Trading and Doha Bank and
games were played every Friday from 7AM till 1PM.
Chiyoda Almana managed to finish eliminations with a 4-3 (W
-L) standing and qualified for the first time to Semifinals. Semifinals match up were between Chiyoda Almana vs Al Emadi
and Ooredoo vs Hyder. We played against the No.1 team AlEmadi record and unfortunately we lost to a good team, while
Ooredoo defeated Hyder as well.
Once again, Chiyoda Almana Basketball Team will be joining
the 6th Season of Inter-Company Basketball Cup this coming
October. So we hope you’ll be able to watch and support our
basketball team and rest assured that we’ll do better than 4th
place.

On the last day of the tournament last August 29, we battled
Hyder for 3rd place. We were leading during the 1st half, but
Hyder came up strong and finished the 4th quarter and won the
game. While Al Emadi, the number one team defeated Ooredoo
to win the Championship.
17 4th Friendly Bowling Tournament Our 4th Friendly Bowling Tournament was held on the 30th of August 2014 at the Qatar Bowling Center. The aim of this tournament is to
have friendly games among Bowling enthusiasts in Chiyoda Almana with the intention of promoting, team-work and work-life balance.
There were 85 employees who participated in the tournament and they were divided into 17 groups

20 On its third year, the Annual Blood Donation Campaign has continuously garnered strong support from
our Chiyoda Almana Employees and from other Al
Gasssar Tower residents.. The activity was conducted
on the 19th June 2014 in cooperation with the Blood
Donor Center of Hamad Medical Corporation.
Around 100 volunteers participated in the event with
more than 20 donors successfully donated their blood,
after the thorough and stringent screening process.
