cutoff). Segmented reflectors attach with tool-less fasteners
and are rotatable and interchangable.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM — High reactance, high power factor ballast for 100W/150W. Constant-wattage autotransformer for 175400W. Super CWA Pulse Start ballast required for 200W, 320W
and 350W (must order SCWA option).Ballast is copper-wound
and 100% factory-tested.
Porcelain, horizontal, position-oriented, socket with copper alloy, nickel-plated screw shell and center contact. Medium-base
socket used with 100W & 150W, mogul-base socket used with
175-400W. UL listed 1500W-600V.

General Information — Poles
(Poles are available only in U.S.)
All luminaire/pole assemblies require proper evaluation
to ensure that the structural integrity of the assembly is
not compromised when applied in specific wind
conditions. Therefore, the basis for pole selection in this
catalog is total weight and effective projected area,
EPA (ft2), shown on the individual pole catalog pages.
Determination of maximum EPA (ft2) and weight loading
must include all luminaires, bracketry, signs, decoration,
overhead wire or other equipment that will be mounted
to the subject pole. Luminaire EPA (ft2) and weight data
are found on their respective product pages.
The total effective projected area of the luminaires and
brackets shall not exceed the EPA (ft2) listed for the pole
selected at a given wind velocity. The map on page 357
gives the wind velocities to be used in determining
luminaire pole compatibility. Poles that are to be located
in areas of known abnormal conditions will require
special consideration. Lighting standards are designed
for ground mounted applications. Special consideration
should be given but not limited to areas with constant
winds, airports, coastal areas, areas of unusual wind
patterns, standards mounted on structures such as
buildings, bridges or parking decks and any area that
has experienced previous problems. Heavier poles and
or vibration dampers may be necessary in these
circumstances. Contact Lithonia Lighting for
recommendations on lighting standards in areas of
question.

NOTE: If during the pole warranty period of one year,
the product proves defective in material or
workmanship, the company shall correct, at its option,
by repairing or replacing at no charge to the purchaser,
if the purchaser promptly notifies the company. This
warranty specifically excludes fatigue failure or
similar phenomena resulting from induced vibration
harmonic oscillation or resonance associated with
the movement of air currents around the product.
Select the luminaire and decide how many will be mounted per pole. Determine the Effective Projected Area, EPA (ft2), which is given on the dimensional
information table.
Determine the appropriate mounting method for the luminaire. Options include arm, bracket or wall mounting.
Add together the EPA's (ft2) of the luminaire and arm/bracket. Multiply by
number of fixtures to be mounted on one pole.
Consult the Wind Map on page 357 to determine the basic wind velocity for
your area. Special consideration should be given but not limited to areas with
constant winds, airports, coastal areas, areas of unusual wind patterns, standards mounted on structures such as buildings, bridges or parking decks and
any area that has experienced previous problems. Heavier poles and or

Select the material (steel or aluminum) and shape (square or round) of the
pole. Refer to the “Technical Information” chart on the appropriate pole page.
A. Find the desired nominal mounting height in the second column.
B. Verify that the fixture weight does not exceed the maximum number listed.
C. Compare your total EPA (ft2) loading with the maximum EPA (ft2) value found
in the wind speed column for your area. Check that the equipment you are
using will not exceed this value.
D. If both the weight and EPA (ft2) values do not exceed for which the pole is
rated, you have selected the correct pole. If, however, either one of those
numbers exceeds the maximum rated values, compare the EPA (ft2) and
fixture weight loads to the next larger pole of the same mounting height.
CAUTION: This pole selection process is a guideline only. Lithonia Lighting assumes no responsibility for
selection and recommends consultation with qualified individuals for verification of luminaire/pole
assembly selection.

Type
CONSTRUCTION
Anchor Base Poles
Weldable-grade, hot-rolled, commercial-quality carbon steel tubing with
a minimum yield of 55,000 psi (11-gauge), 50,000 psi (7-gauge). Uniform
wall thickness of .125" or .188". Shafts are one-piece with a longitudinal
electric resistance weld. Uniformly square in cross-section with flat sides,
small corner radii and excellent torsion. Available shaft widths are 4", 5"
and 6".
SQUARE STRAIGHT STEEL
Anchor base is fabricated from hot-rolled carbon steel plate that meets
or exceeds a minimum yield strength of 36,000 psi. The anchor base is
provided with slotted holes. Base cover is finished to match pole.

A handhole having nominal dimensions of 3" x 5" for all shafts. Included is
a cover with attachment screws.
Top cap provided with all drill-mount poles.
Fasteners are high-strength galvanized zinc-plated or stainless steel.
FINISH — Dark bronze (DDB) polyester powder standard. Other architectural colors available.
GROUNDING — A nut holder located immediately inside the handhole rim is
provided with a 1/2" – 13 UNC ground bolt and nut.
ANCHOR BOLTS — Top protion of anchor bolt is galvanized per ASTM A153. Made of steel rod having a minimum yield strength of 55,000 psi.

IMPORTANT INSTALLATION NOTES:
• Do not erect poles without having fixtures installed.
• Factory-supplied templates must be used when setting anchor
bolts. Lithonia will not accept claim for incorrect anchorage
placement due to failure to use factory template.
• If poles are stored outside, all protective wrapping must be
removed immediately to prevent finish damage.
• Lithonia is not responsible for the foundation design.
• Installation requires grout to be packed under base to ensure
full contact with foundation.

CONSTRUCTION — Rugged, die-cast, single-piece aluminum housing with
nominal wall thickness of 1/8”. Die-cast door frame has impact-resistant,
tempered, glass lens (3/16” thick). Door frame is fully gasketed with onepiece tubular silicone and has tool-less entry and resealing. US. Patent
No. D447,590. Canada Patent No. 94324.
FINISH — Standard finish is dark bronze (DDB) polyester powder finish, with
other architectural colors available.
OPTICAL SYSTEM — Anodized segmented reflectors for superior uniformity
and control. Reflectors attach with tool-less fasteners and are rotatable
and interchangeable. Five cutoff distributions available: Type II (roadway),

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM — Ballast is constant-wattage autotransformer ballast
standard. 200W, 320W and 350W require Super CWA Pulse Start ballast
(must order SCWA option). All ballasts are mounted on a removable
power tray with tool-less latch and have positive locking disconnect
plugs. Ballasts are copper-wound and 100% factory-tested. Porcelain,
mogul-base socket with copper alloy, nickel-plated screw shell and center contact. UL listed.
INSTALLATION — Integral arm for pole or wall mounting. Optional mountings
available.

LAMP TYPES: Standard or Pulse Start Metal Halide, High Pressure Sodium,
and Compact Fluorescent.
SHADE AND CROWN: Die Cast Aluminum.
BRACKETS: Brackets are extruded and cast aluminum assemblies or fabrications. All
decorative elements are die cast or extruded aluminum.
FINISH: Available in silver gray metallic, satin verde green, bronze, black, white or buff
polyester powder coat.
LENS: Flat or Contoured tempered glass lenses are available. Lens is sealed to the lens
frame casting.
GASKETS AND SEALS: Silicone gaskets seal the lens to the housing and the crown to the
shade. All gaskets and seals are extruded, molded or die cut silicone.

OPTICS: Four distributions - Type II, III, V, and Forward Throw Perimeter. Shade attachment
allows field orientation of optics in 90° increments.
LAMPHOLDER: Matched to the lamp. Glazed porcelain, medium or mogul base, 4KV pulse

BALLASTS: High power factor for -20°F starting is standard. Universal electronic for
120-277V, 50 or 60HZ operation is available for some wattages.
COLOR BANDS: Accent color decals are available in nine colors, and guaranteed for five
years against peeling, cracking, or fading.
FASTENERS: All exposed fasteners are black oxide coated stainless steel.
BASE COVER: Optional Decorative or Contemporary base covers have two-piece die cast
construction with stainless steel fasteners. Base covers are polyester powder coated to
match pole.
