Meet Our Chairman
Jerry Catlett, NBA Chairman
Jerry Catlett, senior vice president and chief financial officer of Bruning State Bank in Bruning, Neb., was selected as chairman of the NBA on May 5, 2016.
Catlett received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Economics from Kearney State College. Soon after, he began his banking career as vice president and chief operating officer at Arcadia State Bank, now First Nebraska Bank, in Arcadia, Neb.
He then served as vice president and cashier at United Nebraska Bank in Broken Bow, Neb.
In January 1993, Catlett accepted a position with Bruning State Bank in Bruning, Neb., as financial and compliance officer. He was promoted to vice president of financial services and investments the following year, and has served as senior vice president, chief financial
officer, and bank director since January 1998. From 1999 to 2004, he also served as investment officer and vice chairman at the Commercial State Bank in Clay Center, Neb., while maintaining his position at Bruning State Bank.
Catlett is a graduate of the NBA Leadership Class of 2000 as well as the School of Banking Fundamentals and the Bank Compliance School from the Kansas and Nebraska Bankers Associations’ Schools of Banking. In addition, he is a graduate of the University of
Wisconsin-Madison Graduate School of Banking.
At the local level, Catlett currently is a member of the Bruning Village Board (past chairman), co-chairman of the Thayer County-University of Nebraska Pilot Program – Entrepreneurial Community Activation Process (ECAP), and an active member of Sacred Heart Church
in Hebron, Neb. Catlett is a former member of the Bruning Public Schools Board of Education (past president), Bruning-Davenport Unified School District Board (past president), Nebraska State Records Board, Judicial Nominating Commission for District 1, Foundation for
Thayer County Health Services, Thayer County Economic Development Group (past treasurer), Bruning Community Foundation, Custer County Extension Board (past vice president), Pioneering 2000 Community Development Committee (past chairman), Custer County
Feeders and Breeders (past secretary/treasurer), and Broken Bow Parks and Recreation Board (past president).
In addition, Catlett has played an active role in the NBA, serving as a member of several NBA boards and committees, including the NBA Board of Directors, Government Relations Committee (past chairman), BankPAC Committee (past chairman), various Education
Committees, the Nebraska Bankers Insurance & Services Co. (NBISCO) Board of Directors, and the KBA/NBA Schools of Banking Board of Directors.
Catlett’s wife, Jill, is a middle school social studies teacher at Bruning-Davenport Unified Schools. They have one daughter, Cecelia, who is a compliance specialist at Bruning State Bank in Broken Bow, Neb.
