The winning teams from Southern Region, Northern Region and Western Region contested for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions. An eminent Jury comprising of experts from OEMs adjudged the presentations made by eight QC teams, contested in the National Competition. Mr. Arvind Kapur, Chairman ACT and MD, Rico Auto Industries Ltd. graced the occasion and distributed the trophies to the winning teams. The winners of National QC Competition are: Winner ‘Shreshtha’ Quality Circle from Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd., Noida Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd. is one of the leading manufacturers of wiring harness used in automobiles. Quality problem selected by the QC Team was “To eliminate branch length short problem in floor wiring harness of Maruti Swift model.” The problem identified above caused due to slips in wire during taping operation. Introduction of jigs ensuring proper holding of wires and change in sequence of taping reduced the length variation problem to zero. The team has used various QC Tools like Flow diagram, Pareto Chart, Fish Bone Diagram etc. to find out the root cause of the problem and its counter measures. Leader Member Ms. Anju Chawla - Member Mr. Rajesh Gupta - Member Mr. Vikas Kumar Gupta - Facilitator 1 st Runner Up ‘Jai Ho’ Quality Circle from Subros Ltd., Pune Subros Ltd. is one of the largest AC manufacturers in India, supplying to all major OEMs in country. The theme selected by the QC Team was to reduce Brazing & Bending Defects in AC pipes. Team has used primarily Cause and Effect diagram and why-why analysis to identify the root cause of the problem. Various countermeasures taken in the process has finally resulted in overall reduction in rejection from 2300 ppm to 225 ppm. This has also resulted in productivity improvement by 13 %. September 2009 2 Auto News This year Jury has decided to give 2nd runner ship trophy to two teams as they were contesting too close to each other. 2 nd Runner Up ‘Vijeta’ Quality Circle from Mindarika Pvt. Ltd., Gurgaon Mindarika Pvt Ltd. is one of the known manufacturers of switches for four wheelers. Problem selected by the team was “To bring down. in-house rejection of M41041 from – 113967 ppm to 500 ppm & customer rejection to zero”. The team applied Pareto Analysis and Fish Bone Diagram to find out the root cause of the problem. The problem selected by the Team was “Delay in dispatch to main assembly from SM 50 Armature line.” To identify the root cause of the problem, various QC tools like: Fish Bone Diagram, 4W-1H and Scatter diagram were used.
