Roydon Trainor
Employers and the Ontario College of Trades
Royden Trainor joined the
Ontario College of Trades last
year as the Director of Policy
and Programs.
Trained as a lawyer, much of
his work has been in the field
of training, education, social
enterprise, organizational and
community development and has spent even parts of his
20 year career at senior levels in both the private and the
public sectors.
The Ontario College of Trades is an industry-driven,
professional regulatory body that protects the public by
regulating and promoting the skilled trades. One of the
main responsibilities of the College is to ensure that
individuals performing the skills of compulsory trades
have the training and certification required to legally
practise this trade in Ontario. The College is responsible
for, among other things, issuing certificates of
qualification and statements of membership; establishing
apprenticeship programs and other training programs;
and the process for determining appropriate apprentice
to journeyperson ratios.
Except for the Members’ Session at 7:30
am on Monday and the Gala Banquet, all
events and sessions are tailored with both
adults and children in mind.

Dr. Karyn Gordon is one of
North America’s leading
authorities on understanding,
motivating and connecting with
Generation Y (13 – 32 years
old) in both a corporate and
family setting.
She is a regular expert for Good
Morning America, Cityline, Breakfast Television and
writes columns for New York Parenting Magazine and
Chatelaine. For 17 years she has consulted and listened
to over 10,000 hours from young people. A sought after
speaker, she has spoken to over 1/4 million people. Her
gift is communicating playfully and pragmatically. Her
passion is to teach relationship principles that can apply
to both work and family cultures.
