the largest fundraiser of the year for “our little school in the

GUIDELINES
When you enter the auction, please check in at the front table.
You will receive a complimentary drink coupon and a bid
number. The bid number is required for Silent Auction bidding.
You may also put your name in a basket for door prize drawings.
Silent Auction bidding will open at 7:00 p.m.
Bidders participate in the Silent Auction by writing their bid
numbers next to a pre-printed amount on the bid sheets provided
for each item. Please write legibly.
Bidders may return as often as they wish to make higher bids.
Bids may not be withdrawn.
Absolutely no bids will be accepted after the official closing time
for each bid category:
8:30 p.m.: Services & Merchandise; Sports & Fitness
8:40 p.m.: Food & Dining; Children
8:50 p.m.: Travel & Adventure; Entertainment
9:00 p.m.: Fine Arts, Crafts, & Jewelry; Treasures of Tauxemont
Nature Camp Raffle winners and the iPad Mini Raffle winner
will be drawn after all Silent Auction categories have closed and
during the Live Auction.
The Live Auction will be open to all who wish to participate.
Paddles will be given out the night of the auction. All items have
a starting bid and a bidding increment predetermined by the
Silent Auction committee. Once bidding on an item appears to
have stopped, the Auctioneer will give two warnings before
closing the bid. The Auctioneer’s determination of a winning bid
is final. All decisions are at the ultimate discretion of the Auction
committee.
You need not be present to win raffles or Silent Auction items.
However, payment for Auction items must be made in full by
cash or check within 48 hours, or items will be sold to the next
highest bidder. Items should be picked up the night of the auction
unless other arrangements are made.
Unless otherwise stated, all goods and services are sold as-is and
must be claimed or used within one year. Some expire sooner;
please check the restrictions listed in the catalog. Restaurant
meals do not include tax, gratuities, or alcoholic beverages unless
specified.
All sales are final. No exchanges or refunds on auction items are
permitted.
The Silent Auction Committee reserves the right to add, delete,
or change the order of sales or the restrictions applying to any
Auction items.

Youth Sailing Lessons

Children gain confidence around the water by learning
safe sailing skills during 15 hours of instruction. Wearing
lifejackets in 14’ Sunfish sailboats, they learn to sail and
have an all-around great time. The student-to-instructor
ratio is 6:1 allowing us not only to teach sailing skills but
also to ensure the safety of your children. Instructors sail
alongside their group or sail together on the Flying Scots
when the winds are strong. The course covers rigging a
Sunfish, knots used in rigging, the points of sail,
navigational rules, right-of-way rules, man-overboard
drills, capsizing & recovery (always the most fun!) and
plenty of docking practice. On very light air days, students
are taught how to safely paddle a canoe or kayak through
the beautiful Dyke Marsh surrounding our marina.
Children aged 8 to 15. The 2013 season will start in early
June and will be offered weekly through late August.
Monday - Friday sessions are offered from 10 AM to 1 PM
or from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. Students should bring a bag
lunch if sailing both sessions. Reserve early. Class sizes are
limited.

Framed Block Prints of Landmarks and Monuments

A sweet compilation that captures a moment in time where
simple forms rule and life for our children isn’t quite as
complicated as it will become. The children were given a
list of landmarks/monuments to choose from to draw on
standard sized paper. They were brilliant, attentive and
engaged in reducing some fairly complicated images down
to individual shapes they were comfortable with
(rectanges, squares, circles etc.). They then added detail to
their basic forms. Hues of orange, green, yellow and a flaxish color were chosen for the final masterpieces. The
drawings were etched onto foam and printing ink was
used to transfer their images onto the final piece ala block
style printing resulting in a really lovely collection of ‘all
things DC metro area.’
