(2 Dinners and breakfast) DAY THREE – White Sands National Monument Some of the most diverse landscape of New Mexico lies before us. The Rio Grande cuts a wide green path of tall trees and fertile fields through the Mesilla Valley and leads us to White Sands National Monument. This awesome expanse of snow-white gypsum sand dunes covers 275 square miles. We travel the 16-mile Dunes Drive before coming to the picturesque town of Las Cruces. (Breakfast) DAY FOUR – Explore Las Cruces Set against the majestic spires of the Organ Mountains, Las Cruces is a crossroads of Hispanic, Indian and American cultures. At the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum, we climb aboard evening, the Casino del Sol’s remarkable architecture transports us to a Mediterranean Resort with an included dinner. (Breakfast and dinner) Visit Tombstone and Boot Hill Cemetery specially designed trams and learn the history of New Mexico’s farming and ranching through both indoor and outdoor exhibits, live animals and demonstrations. Our included lunch is in Old Mesilla where you can explore the beautiful plaza and see over 400 years of its past come to life through traditional architecture. (Breakfast and lunch) DAY FIVE – Tombstone and Boot Hill Cemetery In the boardwalk-laden, wild-west mining town of Tombstone, we hear how the town has survived booms, busts and some of the territory’s most notorious gunslingers and was the site of the real gunfight at the OK Corral. Take a stroll through Boot Hill Cemetery. Later, we arrive in Tucson, our home for the next four nights. Tonight, dinner is served at Pinnacle Peak Steakhouse and Saloon, known for their mesquite-grilled cowboy steaks. (Breakfast and dinner) DAY SIX – Saguaro National Park and Sabino Canyon Tram A local guide shows us Tucson, whose downtown Presidio District includes a colorful mix of Moorish, Spanish and Southwestern architecture as well as the historic Hotel Congress, where John Dillinger’s fate was sealed. Then take a leisurely drive through Saguaro National Park to see these amazing giants of the cactus world. In Sabina Canyon a narrated tram ride takes us to see where mammoths once roamed and Hohokam Indians found swimming holes. (Breakfast) DAY SEVEN – Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum and Old Tucson Studios The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is a mix of zoo, natural history museum and botanical garden with a range of local flora and wildlife. Nearby is Old Tucson Studios, an old west town made famous as a location for more than 300 movies and TV shows. In the FOR RESERVATIONS OR INFORMATION CONTACT: DAY EIGHT – Pima Air & Space Museum and Tubac This morning we tour the Pima Air & Space Museum, featuring over 300 historical aircrafts from a Wright Flyer to a 787 Dreamliner. At the lovely village of Tubac, first established by the Spanish in 1752, we stroll the meandering streets filled with numerous galleries, studios and gift shops. Later, we visit Mission San Xavier del Bac, the 17th-centruy Spanish mission known as “The White Dove of the Desert,” with its imposing dome, lofty towers and graceful spires. In the evening, “cheer” the hero and “boo” the villain at Tucson’s authentic musical comedy melodrama, the Gaslight Theatre. (Breakfast) DAY NINE – St. Joseph Apache Mission We make a stop at the St. Joseph Apache Mission. This inspiring Romanesque church stands as a tribute to the faith, patriotism and is dedicated to the memory of veterans from WWI and WWII. (Breakfast and dinner) DAYS TEN THROUGH TWELVE – Oklahoma City and Home A panoramic tour of Oklahoma City shows us the Stockyards and Capitol Building followed by a final overnight and farewell dinner in Missouri.
